Nope, just most older vets have time constraints, obligations, and can’t spend all day at the track. Which is why most of them don’t bother racing and are practice riders basically. It was just a tip to help boost vet attendance at races. Take it for what you will.

You can’t really go wrong with any modern bike 2 or 4 stroke. I have a 250 2 stroke and a 350 and both have pros and cons. My litpro data shows I’m faster on my 2 stroke, but I can ride harder longer on the 350. I think a lot of it comes down to what you like riding. The 350 likes to be ridden like a 2 stroke. Sidi crossfire 3 or older crosssfire 2 . Best boots ever. I went through various other types of boots for many years, loved a lot of Alpinestars, but the soles wore out ridiculously quickly, pretty much junking them out. The SIDI SRS system made that issue a distant memory. I pay no attention to any other boots these days...

Is he racing? If not, then who cares? My son is a lot like that. I wanted to have a supermini pro when he was younger, but now I see that he's just content to ride around and have fun. There's nothing wrong with that. He'll be injured a lot less.
