They need to drop timed qualifying and go back to points based qualifying and putting tuff blocks in the lines to force riders to make more lines during practice sessions. More lines equals better racing.

I have always thought racing should have air cooled four stroke classes so people could race relatively lower cost TTRs, CRFs/F, DRs, and KLXs competitively. I worked with my state's DCNR on land use issues, and to make a long story short, attempting to organize riders, manufacturers, media, and organizations involved with dirt bikes is like herding cats. As far as kids not participating in dirt bikes, I think something is in our food?

Dude I love to see this so much. As a die hard two stroke guy I can point you in a few directions to help you love this bike as your daily racer. A few tips to have utmost confidence in an old bike you want to race: Systematically loosen, remove and brake clean with a wire brush- then retighten all the main chassis points to OEM torque spec (including the shock and linkage). Spray out with brake clean and air the triple clamp, fork lug, brake hanger, shock, and subframe mounting holes. There's years of debris that will mess...

I sure do love my 04! Unexpectedly turned into my favorite bike of all time. Sold my modern bikes after riding this one a few times.
