Some people were wondering about Tom not taking the KTM offer in the US or if he had any other offers.

Translated question from Moto Verte:

It's true that this 2025-2026 offseason is pretty crazy in terms of the transfer market...

"In the US, when the different teams started negotiating, everything happened very quickly. Sexton agreed terms with Kawasaki and was set to join Prado. The HRC team already had the Lawrence brothers under contract. At Yamaha, Webb and Cooper were confirmed, Deegan's arrival in 450 Motocross was announced, and Tomac's departure was finalized.

I received some very good offers from Ducati and Triumph. But since I'm new to the category, I figured that starting out with a new team and a new 450 without much SX experience wasn't the best thing for me.

I was also approached by Suzuki to be Roczen's teammate.

At KTM, their offer was only for one year, with no financial guarantee of being paid if the factory encountered further financial problems. And since I wanted to move on anyway, I wasn't interested.

The offer from HRC came along and I didn't hesitate. It's a great opportunity and I accepted the deal with great satisfaction. Of course, I thought about it for a while, weighed the pros and cons, and came to the conclusion that it was the best possible choice. The bike, the team, the financial aspect, the human side, my personal conviction—I couldn't have asked for anything better."

Pretty good reason to turn down Ducati & Triumph, but I wonder why he said no to Suzuki?

Could have been a one year deal...  plus... HRC is HRC.

I thought the HRC guys (MXGP) had to wear Fox helmets with the rest of the Fox gear.  Tom is wearing a Bell lid. Something must have changed.

2 SX championships gets my respect. I think he would have done well on a 450 here but hard to turn down going back to a secure multi-year deal closer to home.

I mean heck... ok.  Yes, titles do speak for themselves, but occasionally we need to add context if we're looking to future results.  In three sx seasons,  he's got three wins. Outdoors, he also did well,  but with a 2x would champ,  I think most did expect him to contend a little more.

Three sx wins in two years means he won with consistency, less so being the fastest guy....  that's a-ok, but he wasn't dominant either.  Moving to the 450 class I think he would have been in a tough spot when you look at who he's racing against.  He also had a zach bell level crash, that could have been life changing,  but was saved by the net.  In his defence there, they were seriously big whoops. Jett took a little while figuring them out too.

Edit....  he won two nationals in three seasons.

The point is to win championships, not necessarilly individual races. I think we can all agree where ever he went, Vialle accomplished that goal.

Bell and Fox are owned by the same parent company. The Fox helmet is not yet on the homologation list.

Am I the only one stunned by this?

Because of the pay or him wanting to move on?

Interview mentions why he wanted to move on.

Do you think Tomac, AP, JuJu, or the Husky guys have it in their contracts that they won’t get paid if the factory suffers further financial problems?

I can't see why it would be any different for Tomac and AP since those guys signed new deals. Beaumer is still under the contract he signed before they started having issues, so it could be different.

Tomac and AP are on one year deals and that could be one if the reasons why. Same with the Husky guys.

Edit: Should be fine now that Bajaj took over.

The press release and Ian Harrison both say it's for 2026. Eli also said it's a one-year deal.

Click play. He's asked the question at the 16 second mark.

I saw something that said 2 year deal for Eli as well. Kinda weird, but I’ve read or seen videos saying one year and 2 year deal for him.

Interesting I thought a lot of the talk before he switched teams was he was looking for a 2 year deal. ML said in the 2027 thread it was a 2 year.

Some people were wondering about Tom not taking the KTM offer in the US or if he had any other offers.

Translated question from Moto Verte:

Vialle also said that when he was training on the 450 SXF in Florida this summer (outdoor track), he was not far from Sexton's laptimes, and was already sometimes faster than Plessinger and Hampshire...

No financial guarantee of being paid. They must have options like a set aside they could do, or some type of Lloyd's of London insurance policy like they do with performance bonuses. It surprises me that they aren't doing anything to guarantee pay, and they anyone would sign with them without that guarantee. Especially after the rumors from last year.

Any contractor is subject to bankruptcy laws/rules unless they have a secured lien. I'm guessing there's not a single motocross racer that has a secured lien on company assets for their contract.

12/15/2025 1:00pm

Something people are overlooking is they now have a 2 time 250sx champ racing the gp on the prototype for 27. Even if hes not racing that bike this year like they did last year they now have a sx guy that can offer opinions on it while it in being raced preproduction.

Thats a lot of added value to hrc from him.
