I reckon that was an interesting race. As we who know the sport have seen, when in the lead Jett is usually happy to hold a 2 to 3 second lead. However, in this race he was up to 7 seconds. I reckon it shows he's much more wary of Hunter's speed than of any of his other competition, meaning he feels he needs more of a buffer.

Go compare lap times for Moto 1. (I have even provided a link.) While in traffic and moving forward his lap times weren’t sub 2 min like a few of the Lawrence’s but they were very comparable. He was on a mission today and his ride was very impressive. Some of you guys let your hate blind reality.

I won't take away talent that Deegan has, he is truly fast. But the first few laps of the second moto, the brothers truly put on a clinic pushing each other, that was proof to the world they are the best. He still has a good bit of ground to cover to be at their level

He was going flat out while they were cruising to maintain a huge gap. Deegs was fun to watch, but he is objectively several seconds a lap slower, all other things being equal. The Lawrence bros are the fastest guys on earth right now (although I believe Lucas C. will be closer than anyone else next year). 3rd place to those guys is something to be proud of, but the narrative that anyone is consistently closer to them (barring silly crashes) is simply false.

James and Weege kept saying how “DEEGS IS RIDING THE PACE OF THE LEADERS” as he was making his way thru the pack. Now I get he was slicing the pack apart going from 31st to 4th. However, after lap 2, Deegan was 27 seconds down. At the finish, Deegan was 56 seconds down. Great comeback, 100%, however, “riding the leaders pace”? Absolutely not, the Lawrence boys were 2-3 seconds a lap better then him the whole race. 2nd moto, if Jett didn’t wad it up, he would have been 25-30 seconds ahead of Deegan on a clean start. I applaud the Martins for trying new layouts...even if they do not work and need to be reversed the following year. Heck, the facility has been in existence for 53 years. I started racing the track back in 1975 when Kawasaki factory rider Tommy Benolkin was the fast guy (on a 125 Elsinore)! The best kept secret is to stay at a motel along the Mississippi.

Too bad his antics, mouth and personality make it very difficult to like the kid. I’m VERY surprised he’s not a frequent crasher given how he rides. Kid has mad skills. I’d like to like him but it’s just not in the cards. He could be a class act and America’s darling but half the fans of the sport can’t stomach his BS. He ought to go watch how Dungey handled himself.

ELI could do much better than expected being that he trains at altitude. Wildfire smoke rolled in today from Canada. It’s very thick & stinks real bad. Much worse than the last 4 yrs. If you attend the race buy a few large cans of oxygen from Walmart. And eye drops for your burning eyes.
