I remember when Damon Smith was racing SX. Someone did an interview with him. Like was already mentioned, was a college football player and took up dirt bike riding in his early 20's. IIRC, he worked full time as an engineer (aerospace?), and practiced SX at Milestone after work in the evenings. Pretty badass to try and live your dreams...

Rumor is Davalos laid up one season purposely so he would not point out. Not sure if that is true, but I've read it on this site before.

I figure Dungey will finish better than Tomac on average for the remaining races. One DNF would not be enough.

When comparing him to Davalos, I feel that it is different since he didn't race SX for three years, and got his first win this year. Davalos has been a top 250SX rider for many consecutive years.

Tomac will need a minimum of two DNF's from Dungey.

Unfortunately they don't reward points based on your position at the mid-point of the race. He needs to improve his fitness. It would also help him stay off the ground.
