Greg-15 Added a reply to Air striker carb..
5/4/2016 9:23pm I swapped out a early TM series Mikuni flat side for a 38 Keihin PWK ion a 1982 Suzuki RM250Z. The PWK Mixes the air and fuel better at lower RPM. Starting the bike is much easier. Mikuni TMX are good carbs but I Keihins PWK's work better in these areas. I have a 2001 CR250R as my regular bike...

4/3/2016 5:06pm The Husqvarnas are out there at very reasonable prices. Prices are not high like the euphoria about Maicos right now.
Can you just bolt up a nice front set of KYB or Showa forks with a nice drum brake set up?. Your bike will probably make it through tech inspection if you don't make waves. Your competitors probably will not mind about this bike having a drum set up.
I own some vintage machines that fall in a "Dead Zone". I still like them but do not ride them much at events. Do you like the 1982 KX250? This would be a good bike for you since it has a drum brake. You can show up at the races and run the GP3 250 class and the age classes...
Greg-15 Added a reply to The Best bike you've owned/ridden
2/10/2014 7:12pm 1982 RM250Z. Hands down the best Motocross bike for it's time. New standard of performance for the time. Handles great, totally rips, reliable, all ways starts on the first kick. Joy to own and ride. Suspension awesome. Good to today's standard.
Greg-15 Added a reply to The Worst Bike YOU Have Ever Ridden?
2/10/2014 7:00pm Come on you guys....the slower early 1980's YZ125 were not that bad! Slower of the 125's at the time but you could have a blast play riding them all day. 1998 KTM 250? Come on..... that would make a great off road play bike today. Now this is a horrible bike. 1974 CR250M. Overrated at the time. Horrible handling. Not...

Greg-15 Added a reply to Suzuki Full Floater questions
8/25/2013 9:59pm I heard many different stories that Suzuki did not have the patent for the idea and had to pay. Other stories was suspension was advancing and the standard shock link set up on other bikes could close the gap with the performance by the mid 1980's If you are considering one to restore or ride you will not be disappointed...
Greg-15 Added a reply to 82/83 RM 250 Flywheel Swap?
7/21/2013 9:16am Check your Reeds first to make sure they are not bent. Rode mine for awhile this way and made the bike very hard to ride. To save money you can flip the reeds around on the block. I put Boyseen pro reeds on my 82 and made a world of difference in managing the power. Bike traction was great too...
Greg-15 Started a new thread AVDRA Vintage MX race at Honolulu Hills Raceway, Taft CA. 3-3-13
3/8/2013 5:27pm There was a Vintage MX Race at Honolulu Hills Raceway at Taft Ca. There were some very unique well prepared vintage bikes racing on the track. Check out the 1967 Maico Oval barrel, 1965 Rickman Vellocette, Nice CZ, Kawasaki, Rickman, and other Maicos in the mix. There was even Former National Champion Gary Jones racing on a 1974 YZ250A. There...

3/8/2013 5:27pm The track has a real down hill. There is also a lot of land around and the track is wide opened. The operators have plenty of heavy equipment to prep the track.

2/26/2013 8:02am The track seemed like it was in a gravel pit from long ago because there were old stable like structures around.
This is the first time in 30 years I have been through Riverside. Finally saw that lousy shopping mall that replaced Riverside International Raceway where my Dad would take me to watch the Sports Car Racing in the late...

6/9/2012 5:59am Mine is E-Street Track, Marysville California. When the track is prepped the place is awesome!
I have been attending AVDRA events for a few years now. The AVDRA events Have been great in my opinion. There is a class for every era vintage machine and the tracks have been wide opened. Have got a lot of riding in since I bring machines to the events from all eras. There is always a modern support and...
Greg-15 Added a reply to Boyesen Pro Reeds in 1982 RM250Z
5/10/2012 5:27pm The lower end became more manageable with the transition to the mid to top end. The traction was improved in all this so the bike is much easier to ride. The bike has greatly improved forward motion. The bike always pulls a clean 2nd gear start now. Make sure the jetting is correct was important with these reeds. I ended...
