Just been reading old stuff and wondering why the FF system was discontinued.
was it to heavy, cost prohibitive, wht?

It seems that everything I read leans to it being the very best of the time, just wondering if any
of you guys rode it, your experiences with it, and any info u have about it...

Thanks

1982 RM125. Horrible flexy forks, incredible full floating rear suspension. Add some plastic scott botts and it felt like you were phoning it in.

Everything you need to know can be found here and here.

I rode them and while it was the best at the time I doubt that it would be considered as good as todays systems. Although with an extra 20 years of development, who knows how good the system could have been.

Thank you both for your input. Reded, that was an interesting read. Can you imagine how much
the litigation costs associated with all that was?Blink Ugh!

I heard many different stories that Suzuki did not have the patent for the idea and had to pay. Other stories was suspension was advancing and the standard shock link set up on other bikes could close the gap with the performance by the mid 1980's

If you are considering one to restore or ride you will not be disappointed. They perform great and suspension is still awesome in stock form. Easy to find parts for and used full floater bikes on the market are very reasonable.

Had a 81' RM125 back in the day and still remember how great a bike it was. Still remember how good the bike ran. I changed the bushings in the forks once to stiffen them up.

Now ride a 82' RM250 in Vintage MX. Great suspension again and the bike rips.

They are great bikes.

I raced them in 84-85 and the suspension was great. It did have a lot of moving parts to maintain, but it's demise was due to several reasons (according to a friend that worked at Suzuki)
1- Patent as stated above
2- Too much weight up high
3- Expensive to manufacture
