Mid 70’s, Buddy of mine had 4 Puch mopeds, cause his old man thought his whole family would go cruising around on them in the evening. As with most well intentioned things, it did not happen. We started taking the mopeds out to a field near our homes and it soon devolved into mopedcross, a beautiful sport that had a top speed of maybe 20 MPH. We had so much fun beating the hell out of those Puchs, and ramming each other onto the ground, never separated by more than 10 feet. I literally had as much fun that summer...

I agree. Wringing out a slow bike is every bit as satisfying as riding something faster and just hanging on! Also, a race is a race. As long as you’re on somewhat equal bikes, who cares how fast they are.

If you have access to one and someplace to try this out take something like an XR250 out in a field and lay out a course with some ribbon. No (or minimal) jumps, just a fun easy to ride track. Obviously the bike has worlds less suspension and power and this is gonna seem really lame but ride for about 1/2 hour. I'll bet anything you have a bigger smile on your face than you've had on any modern bike in years, and if you have friends there it'll quickly turn into who can spin the fastest lap. This is...

This is VERY incorrect. You can't just divide one number by the other without factoring in the denominators. You are not calculating for the amount of people driving cars daily vs people riding dirt bikes yearly. In the US ALONE, there are 255 million registered drivers on the road yearly. Take your number of 42k fatal accidents per year, your chance of fatality is around 0.00016. Now how many people ride dirtbikes each year? How many people ride on a track (This is what we are talking about here, not people who buy bikes and ride in a field or...

In aviation, accident stats are divided by flight hours. Usually a number showing accident rates per 100,000 flight hours. There would be a huge difference in rates per 100,000 hours of everyone in an auto compared to 100,000 hrs of everyone racing motocross.

That's not an apples to apples comparison though as most people drive their car multiple times per day every single day of the year. So you are in a car MUCH more than you are riding your dirt bike. I don't know how you do the math on that statistic I just want to point out it's a little ridiculous to say driving your car is more dangerous than riding moto. I've had 10+ broken bones from dirt bikes and 0 from driving in a car but I've been in a car probably 1000x more time than I've ridden a...

The mx tracks are out of control. I went to club mx few years back when they would have an open practice on their public track. I unloaded my bike made 3 laps, looked around at the other tracks they had. Put my bike back in my truck and went home. Like wtf are these gaps? I have got older and just have too much to lose out there. I'd say tone down the team extreme at our tracks.

I remember that Jett was pretty outspoken about how much he loved the junk food when they moved to the US and said that he was a fat kid at heart. Once again it just warms my heart seeing all the three in the press conference laughing and enjoying it more than what we have seen before. Eli seems to losen up more and more for each week.

This times 100. When our own organization (AMA) will not help with this issue, we don’t join the “greenies” but we welcome their support to fight this. Sometimes you find allies in the strangest places, take their help since we aren’t getting it from our industry.

I guess you chose to ignore the whole part about them closing access to the roads across legal easements that have existed long before they ever bought the property closing off access to thousands of acres of still public land, land that is larger than what they bought. If you think the 3.3 million acres is all they going to close from these sales then you might want to do some research on corner crossing and land locked public lands. Why buy millions upon millions of acres when you can essentially own it all for the fraction of the price...

All this talk of "greenies" and closing of trails misses the point, I grew up in California so I know of land that can be closed to OHV due to "greenies" causes but the difference is I can petition my government to reopen the land for use and regain access. I now live in Idaho for the past 20 years and we have seen what happens when land is sold off to rich billionaires. Look up the wilks brothers, they bought thousands of acres of land that was originally owned by cascade timber which was open for hunting and OHV...
