Absolutely wild to me that you won't admit that the probability of injury increases with increased velocity and force being applied to the body when the entire mechanism by which your products decrease the chance of injury is by decreasing forces being applied to the body.

By using "neutering" as your descriptor of choice, you're poisoning the well: - using negative language to discredit something with which you disagree, thereby prejudicing the audience. There have been some suggestions that I consider rather sensible: Classes for kids 16 and under limited to 125 2 stroke (to avoid putting a 120 pound 15 year old on a race modified 250f), and eliminating 450 beginner or C classes. Your statement is factually incorrect. It works in an equation because it is what happens in practice. That’s how equations are derived and proved, through scientific study of the real world. It is a fundamental concept from the laws of physics. I’m not saying speed is the only factor in the outcome of a crash. FFS, this is frustrating. To take your argument to its logical conclusion we should wear protection while walking down the street. People can and do fall and injure themselves while walking and will keep doing so because of gravity (hell, I once broke my arm slipping on ice just outside of my house). Some people run really fast and fall and suffer no injuries, while others suffer catastrophic injuries when walking very slowly. I think the difference is that a 500 2 stroke in the 90s scared you out of doing shit you shouldn't be doing. A modern 4 stroke gives a lot of people unrealistic confidence to do things they shouldn't be doing, quite the opposite of a 500. They are also so damn good and so easy to ride that speeds are faster than ever and more people are going faster than ever. It's not just about this one incident. 4 strokes, due to ease of ridability and the nature of the motor have led to more catastrophic crashes. Period. That's not even up for debate. Hell, Brent had to delete his posts because he proved that point when he was trying to prove the opposite point. "We need 450s because they allow old Vets like me to do jumps we have no business doing." Is the exact fucking reason we don't need 450s.

Slow the tracks down and you slow the bikes down. You’ll get better racing with more passing, too (it’s a lot easier to change direction at 30mph rather than 50…) People will still crash, but slower speeds are more likely to result in less severe injuries. And for me, I’ll take less jumps. You don’t need jumps on every straight. They just stifle racing and if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all.

I'm in the camp of the current bikes are so easy to ride they easily fool riders into thinking they are more skilled than they really are. That leads to getting WAY over your head in speed, skill, and reaction times and leads to big crashes. Throw in tracks that cater to the crowd of riders always wanting the "big booter" so they can display their testicular fortitude and you've got problems. Sometimes we ARE our own worst enemy.
