He got 5th because he got 5th. That's what he deserves. With that said, there were at least a few guys who almost always beat him that had bad races. And at least a few more who are out injured that beat him regularly. Add to that the West coast is slightly weak this year. There's probably 20 guys from the two coasts that are simply better. That's why he doesn't have a factory ride. I hope he does put something solid together for next year. He's a talented rider and I'll be pulling for him.

Your first sentence is the way I see it. He got 5th. No way around it. He finished when others didn’t, and that’s why it is racing.

I wonder if some of the factory teams shy away from riders who are always out play riding and stuff. Roger Decoster was losing his mind back when 199 was coming up and for good reason. While I'm sure most of the teams are all about working with speed, the sport has morphed into a more business like mentality and they invest in these riders like never before and they don't want their investment wadding themselves up while riding a 110 in the woods

Thrasher won two races his rookie season and Star benched him at the end of the season to avoid pointing out 4 years down the line... I don't think they are letting him go yet. Sure, they were speedway races but his form inside the stadium tracks looks much improved this year even his results don't show it. Thrasher is from TN and raced east coast tracks last year, he is learning to adjust to the west coast hard pack as well (maybe Star putting him on West coast is them looking to develop him further in a long-term approach...

This is why I asked my question. It seemed to me that he's had speed when he's been able to run. Needs to develop in a structured program. Candidly a bit biased as I used to live in the PNW and always look out for those riders. Black, Harriman, Brown, and now Boesplug (sp?) . I'm sure there are others...

I'm actually surprised out of amateurs Carson didn't get a full shot. He's been on decent equipment, but the teams don't have all the resources a factory does. You have to realize it's more than just a badass tech... well multiple (suspension/engine/electronics/chassis)....providing knowledge for your race bike. It's a practice mechanic, testing time in all departments, a guy constantly in the dyno room giving you exactly what you want, someone designing specific parts to try, etc. only dedicated to a few guys on your team. Not doing this to support you alongside running a business and developing and building for...

This must have been the guys next to me last year at Seattle. Watching the nitwit in front of me and a client we took to the race along with his two grade schoolers. It was epic.

I’m just getting started on this forum and I’ve got to say there sure are a lot of whiny bitches on here!! If the dude can get a pro license, AND make his way through qualifying into the night show he would be faster then 99.9% of you guys on this forum. Palmer did it, and he made it to the main. He did like one lap then pulled off so not to get in anyone’s way. But he still made a supercross main. Give the guy a break and maybe even some support.

You dumb ass haters drive me crazy. Just enjoy the show boys. Someone is trying to get into the night show. He will be in the c practice not endangering anyone. I’d be surprised if everyone commenting on this negatively has never dreamed of giving it a shot. But there’s a lot more pussies on here, a motocross website, then I ever expected.

Why is everybody so worked up? If he qualifies he qualifies. If he dies he dies.

Bottom line is he'll either fail or not. One of the locals up here in the PNW is a local pro but ended up getting into the main. Yes he's trying to pay his dues, but, he just went paid the money and qualified. Not sure why that would disqualify this guy from it. Go for it.
