Good for Tim. Win or lose, fair play for having the balls to race outside of his comfort zone. He could've easily stayed home for the remainder of his career after the last MEC effort. I'm sure there's plenty of pitchforks being sharpened in readiness to see him fail though.

I agree with Cooksey and would go a step further. Now was the time for the riders to stand together and refuse to ride this event until the FIM sh*tshow is cleaned up regarding drug infractions. No event points are on the line and continuing to give in to the FIM without taking some kind of stand only shows the riders inability to be unified. The FIM will not change their contempt for North American riders until they are forced to.

Excellent article Cooksey. I’ve brought up many of these same points over the past couple years n comment sections and with friends, you make a few more great points I hadn’t realized ($125 for a basic ticket?!). No question Youthstream is greedy (IMO) and needs a wake up call. I do have a desire to see the best guys go, but they aren't going for specific reasons: scheduling and cost. Nothing I can do about it, but when guys beat on the riders for not going, I try to explain why they aren't going and offer some fixes. Shaming them is not going to work for anyone. DC Racer X

8/12/2019 7:15pm Gps need to step up their game with the facilities they race at if they are to be viewed as world class by many in the USA. There were 5 countries represented in the top 11 450 finishers this past weekend at Unadilla. There is a reason they would rather come here then race mxgp.

They will win again but each and every year this race is becoming less important to riders here. It is a mxgp event and uses that format. We need at least two mxgp races in the USA a year for this race to become important again.

On the Pulp Unadilla post-race interview podcast, Osborne said they were going to Europe 3 weeks early to train. I wonder if that was a requirement they had to say yes to. If that's truly the case then wow, kudos to Anderson, Osborne and Cooper for their commitment.

8/11/2019 6:44am Even playing field for the mxgp guys yes its in their backyard 26 of the last 30 years because they blow their wad on traveling going to races as i described. We dont worry about 20 man gates at the US nationals. We dont worry about races at construction sites and races where more people climb trees outside the facility...

This is the kind of thing that is likely behind much of Kawasaki's thinking, the one time he raced the Geneva SX as a pro, though it's as likely to happen at the MEC as the MXON, but the MEC is a much shorter, much cheaper trip, with live prime-time TV coverage in the U.S. where Kawasaki USA is trying to sell their motorcycles...
