Agree with this, he definitely is.  But I’d suggest he’s moving more play bikes than race bikes, and there’s nothing wrong with that.  Racers care more about the material item than the promotion of it.

For example, I’m buying a bike because I like KYB better than Showa or WP.  Maybe you like WP… as a racer, are you switching suspension and bikes because you like Deegan?

I know you’ve been so enraged with deegans success that it got to your head so let’s change the script

If Jorge prado had 2.1 MILLION followers (twice as many as Tomac, more than twice as many as Ricky Carmichael, more than twice as many as Jett Lawrence). The biggest lines at every single race. The most kids wearing his merch at every single race…. You don’t think he would have any influence on ktm sales? Seems dumb to use Jorge, but I truly think we have to break this down elementary style for the deegan haters.

Also, Yamaha makes a lot of different dirtbikes. They don’t just make their max they can and sell out every year no matter what lmfao. Dude you guys man… kills me.

You think they just produce the same number of yz dirtbikes every year and that doesn’t fluctuate? Lmao dude this take is wild. I don’t think you understand this at all.

Yamaha forecasts demand and adjusts production. This demand comes from many factors, not only deegan of course. If they sell out very quickly in 2023, they will adjust production and get more bikes out for the next year should they forecast the same outcome or better.

So yes, a championship, a rider, advertisement, good reviews, all these things affect how a product sells. Deegan has THE most eyes on him. He’s a literal brand dream right now in moto. Like it or not, that’s fact. You may never buy another Yamaha again because you hate him, but there’s plennnnnty kids out there that want to ride a Yamaha like Deegan. Listen man, I don’t like LeBron James, but I’d acknowledge that he has sold a lot of Nike shoes because they want to be like him.

I think riders help sell bikes a little more than most on here give credit for. My uncle this year finally bought my 8 year old cousin his first bike. He wanted to get him a kx65 since my uncle grew up riding Kawis but it HAD to be a Yamaha because my little cousin likes Deagan.

When I was in high school and saved up for my first real mx bike it had to be a Kawasaki because of Villopoto and really all of pro circuit Kawasaki.

He'll sell a few (DonM and superfan) but his fan base will steal more bikes from legit owners than actual sales.

I see Deegan fans all over social media who think his bike is inferior to Honda and that’s why Jett and Hunter dominated the MX series.

So I am not sure his popularity translates to bike sales if his fans believe he is being held back by his bike.

He probably brings in more for gear sales then bike sales.

The main reason to have a factory race team is to sell bikes and create a positive image around the brand.

Haiden Deagan’s personality seems to be polarising, half his fans, particularly the GenZ youngsters love his outgoing aura and social media presence whilst the other 50% hate his brashness, dirty riding and particularly his reluctance to step forward and race for Team USA at the MxoN.
Does Deagan create a positive image for Yamaha and actually sell bikes?. Has anyone here on Vital actually bought a bike because of his results?

I think he only sells American flags.

I’d say most of Deegans fan base couldn’t spell Yamaha never mind buy one. Yamaha not going to the MXON did nothing for sales either.

I just don't see it.... sure, I see cringe lord t shirts at the races, about the same amount as the Lawrences tbh.... but men don't wear another man's name on them... so that's a bunch of pimpled up teens with no sense to them...

I don't see because look at attendance rd2 of stupidcross... empty afff, the week after a cringe lord win, at a track in cali....

I don't see it on the media's socials either... a cringe lord post barely gets more engagement than one about webb or hunter...

Then theres... cringe lords social stats are big for a moto rider... but miles away from being actually mainstream... I can literally name a thousand names with larger yt/insta/x followers that you've never heard of before...

Most hated yes by a wide margin... most popular oh hell naw...

Are you a pimple faced teenager ? If not, you should try and ditch the stupid cross/ cringe lord BS name calling…

again, who said they produce the same amount of bikes each year? reading comprehension is a serious challenge for you. companies like Yamaha forecast sales and produce accordingly. the fact is off road bike sales are miniscule compared to other bikes produced. the dangerboy doesn't move the needle.....dork

Why do they pay (a lot of) money to get riders on Yamaha if it doesn't move the needle on sales?

I don't ride dirt bikes anymore but Ken Roczen inspired me to buy a Suzuki king quad for the farm.

racing improves the brand, breeds development and innovation, and they want to win for corporate pride. however, there has never been a clear correlation between winning on Sunday and sales on Monday. doesn't happen with auto manufacturers, nor does it with motorcycle manufacturers.

thems the facts.....

also, who is they?.....Star Racing is a privately owned motorsports operation. So are the GP teams. Yamaha isn't paying them

Do you think Kove/ZX Moto/JHL would see an increase in sales if one of their bikes won a Supercross this year?

Herlings (maybe best rider on earth) is a fan. Also goes on about how he is the most popular rider with the most fans. Figure maybe you’d listen to him over someone on vital.

It’s interesting that he’s always up on who’s fast…everywhere…and who has the fan-following…everywhere.

He’s brutality honest, too.

Nice.

You think they just pay these guys to race for the bike development and corporate pride lol?

Dude it’s for exposure. Brand exposure, advertisement, etc. Jett and hunter make Honda look good, guys see it as a winning bike or what they think is the best bike, they go buy Honda. Kids want to be like Jett, they ask daddy for Honda.  Honda makes replica Jett Lawrence graphics on kids bikes (wonder why). Remember all the Ricky Carmichael replica Suzukis? Why would anyone want that if riders don’t sell bikes?

If racing didn’t make them money, they wouldn’t be doing it. It’s a business dude. But racing does equate to sales due to brand exposure. Doing well in the series helps that.

Can you acknowledge that maybe prado and chase hating on the kawi has maybe affected sales to some degree? There’s at least some guys who have been watching these seasons and thought, hmm maybe my next bike won’t be kawi if they’re struggling with it.  So same goes for a winning bike or someone doing well.
