What did Mathes say?

I don't listen to the show, but he's been reporting that he's leaving Kawasaki.

He would take himself out doing it...

Monster Energy Kawasaki GP Team

Villopoto did the same thing.....

I hope Chase leaves Kawasaki. The problems with that team run deep, and Jake Weimer outlined some of them on PulpMX a while back.

Weimer was never meant to be the A rider.  His teammate did plenty of winning on the same bike he whined about.  So did that guy that retired last week.
Kenny won his SX title on a bike that hasn’t been updated this decade and finished last in the shootouts last time it was.

This is motocross.  Bikes don’t create the champions.

You didn’t listen to Jw’s interview too closely I don’t think. Shame it was good and it was humble and pretty balanced.

Yamaha is my guess. It's what he rode as an amateur and its the team with an open factory 450 spot. (Based on the team running 3 450s this season )

While it’s easy to read between the lines on that to say it’s a team or bike change…

But could it also be a training center change, coach change, etc?

Thought Matthes mentioned PRMX with a Yam factory bike.

Then saw a Matthes tweet Tedder.

Think he is done with Kawi and really is wrecking his career.

Since he left Honda without saying by to Lars his career has gone to shit.

Yes he won an outdoor title for KTM but just keeps burning everyone.

Yea that was a bullshit way to leave honda and then at ktm there was no farewell message or thank you or anything at all he just unfollowed ktm on social media and that was it. Theres no reason to do shit like that, so what if you dont like the bike you still act respectful to the people who dedicated their lives to trying to help you win. He honestly acts like a baby.

Leaving ktm in general was dumb as hell in general. Yea he didnt have the absolute peak top speed he had on the honda, but he also crashed every race on the honda. On the ktm he was a tiny bit slower top speed but way more consistent overall. The best he had ever looked as a total package was on ktm. So what does he do? Bails and goes to kawi where nobody has looked good since RV and theyre notorious for being stiff and stuck in their ways. Its crazy.

Chase should be fighting for wins right now with jett and hunter (and now prado) but instead he just wasted a whole year. You only get so many years of your prime. If he stays at kawi hopefully he likes the new bike, but I just dont see how this is gonna work…

Slight exaggeration about just about crashing every race, he did win a SX title on Honda so must of finished quite a few races, and I think got 2nd in MX that same year

Yamaha...

Was just talking with my buddy about these races tonight. He was living out in Illinois working at a shop and vividly remembers Chase flying by him on a supermini in the open class lol.

Mxgp would give his knee proper time to heal. But I just don't see it.  🤷‍♀️ Probably just switching back to tightly whitey underwear or something.  Lol

If Mathes set out to get people talking, he sure succeeded in that. Has there been any reference to sources or where he may be going? This all honestly just seems like an attempt at getting people engaged and talking during the off season. This 24 hour news cycle/social media/say anything to get clicks schtick is getting tiresome in the mx realm.

The mug and saucer is a dead giveaway, he's done with coffee (makes him anxious and dumb), going back to herbal and root drinks, like when he was younger.

For what it’s worth, Steve mentioned at the live show that Team Tedder could be an option for him as well. He didn’t “stamp” anything but it’s unlike Steve to throw something out without any basis.

He would never say something without having all of the facts...like Josh Hill being a stoner for instance. Would never say that without proof

The fact that we’re even discussing Sexton, one of the fastest raw speed dudes in the series, on a B team is ridiculous for several reasons

Roczen won 2 titles on what some would consider "B-Level" teams. Webb just signed with a B-level team, although in the twilight of his career. Maybe...

Chase is 28, dude. He is at the beginning of the end.

Fair point, even more reason to stay. Do you think Cooper Webb was making Sextons salary his last few years at Star?

Chase is 27 and we all just seen a run of some of the oldest title winners in SX history between Webb, Tomac, and Kenny. I think he’s just fine as far as talent and fitness go. How fast people forget he was Jett before Jett.
