Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
Broc Tickle has one west coast 250 championship and in my opinion that means more than Kitchen winning this SMX series. As far as importance and legacy goes these SMX “titles” are below the well established championships we already have. Just my opinion.
Monster Cup style
Ultimately it is the Grand National Championship of yesteryear…
And the special colored number plates they earn are mimicking that point.
Andrew Short must feel cheated 🤣
Right up there with nickelback and daughtry as hard rock/ metal bands😂
The Shop
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
The checks cash and that's what matters. Lots of money made the past 3 weeks for the riders.
So, in baseball if a team that got into the playoffs via a wildcard birth wins the World Series they are not champions?
We keep calling it a three race series, yet the guy that earned the most points in those three races is not the champion. So, the rest of the season did count enough to make the difference.
I like the theory of playoffs. However, the execution has been terrible.
In my mind, in a playoff system you lose a certain number of guys each round.
22 qualify from SX and MX into the first round.
17 qualify into the second round
12 qualify into the final round
Series champ(s) auto qualify into the final round
Winner of the final round is the champion
Stick and ball comparisons don't work. You need playoffs in those sports because every team can't compete against each other every week. Wildcard teams like the 9-7 Giants winning a Super Bowl and that kinda thing sorta bugs me because you can make the argument the best team didn't win, just the one who got hot at the right time but it's the nature of the beast and everyone knows that it's kind of a necessary evil. Motocross doesn't need to have that as part of the sport because these guys all race each other head to head 28 times a year. At the end of 28 heads up races you can definitively say who the best man was but instead you hit the reset button on them for a 3 race sample size with a wonky new points structure, not because it competitively makes sense but because a television broadcaster wanted it. It's a disservice to the sport.
Even a NASCAR comparison doesn't really apply. They started The Chase because they had a long season that often turned into a runaway and fans would be bored. The 2 premier class championships in our sport this year were both separated by 1 point going into the final round. I think that's a pretty clear sign that the championship structure is functioning properly as is, we naturally got winner take all finals in SX and MX without any silly gimmicks.
It just feels like Monster Cup being spread out across three weekends. I feel like every time A1 rolls around, I forget who won the titles the year before.
I'll give it about the same weight as a regional sx title.
6 motos, but actually the same amount of racing 6*20=120, 8*15=120).
Add a little weight for the seeding, subtract a little for the lack of prestige.
Close enough to call it even.
Only thing I don’t like is coming in with points. I’d be more stoked if it was just 3 races coming in clean slate. The double triple points thing is fine.
Instead Jorge won with the following finishes just because he came in with points
Jorge 3-4-2-2-5-1 2.83 avg
Deegan 1-1-3-3-1-2 1.83 avg.
It is what it is though. I like the series otherwise. Was very entertaining. If you’re a tired hunter, don’t race it. Great opportunity to make a lot of money for those that care and carry momentum into the off season.
Logical
Well, its a real title and in 20 years it will be remembered as much and the kids growing up who become pro will know no different.
However, I wish they would do better with the tracks. This year F'n sucked.
Prado earned it. But yea there could be some adjustment.
I think Round 1 should be double and the final should be quad. On the years Jett doesn't race I think it would give a wider net of potential winners lol.
SMX feels like the DEI of motorcycle racing.
Bring back the monster million
It should just be one triple crown race on a track like Ridgedale.
Im not taking away from prado, but Deegan did better in the 3 smx races and in motocross. He didn’t get the title because he wasn’t in the 450 yet. Thats an issue with smx.
But yeah I mean rules are rules and prado won it. Just no points going into smx imo. If you want to give an end of year award and bonus to whoever did best in mx + sx + smx, then sure. But I don’t think points should carry into smx. I thought it was a great series though and had a lot of fun watching it.
Better than a divisional Supercross because it’s all the best 250 riders.
But not as good as motocross
Pit Row
The track looked neat but if that was at a drag strip everyone would be shitting on the one lined track that had too many bends and curves to form multiple lines. Ridgedale looked awesome but did not race that well.
A track with a 76 second lap time and the top 15 were all within 1 second of each other.
Solution = add whoops
Right up there with the FIM/AMA World supercross title in the 00's, couldnt tell you who won.
If they are gonna keep holding smx, this would be a great way to go forward....
Heath Voss of course, iconic
Exactly this. Very well said.
