Who is Your Guy?

Didn't one of them pick themselves off the ground last weeked? 

Are we talking this moment in time? Or how far back? Obviously Jeremy. What did they call it back then the US Open? My buddy told me RC was the next dominant force and sure as 💩, being an RC fan was very easy. If you didn't care about winning championships, KW was my favorite personality on the circuit. And who wasn't in awe of JS? I so wanted Barcia to be great, didn't pan out. Big Dungey fan. Wasn't really a Tomak fan till the last few years. I've been a Kenny fan since he came over, man it's been a rough road! That first race on the Honda, I thought this is the year! Doh! Always cheered for MM and AP. Who in their right mind doesn't like AP? But my go to guy these days is Jett, for a lot of years. You can look at my posts from years ago, it's not just the talent but the mental maturity on the track. And lastly, Joe Shamoda, ever since he got his first podium and said "I don't want it like this", how can you not respect that? Sometimes I wonder if my choice is their curse? Lot of injuries to my riders over the years. And props to Mook!

So for the most part Deegan is my guy---for a few reasons, but the main one is because when he wins or does anything it emotionally/physically upsets the old folks in here..(WHO have contributed to this site for 20 YEARS)..

Sacha has been picking himself off the ground all season. Blazing fast but finds the ground a lot. Excited for his arrival in the US series.

When I really started to pay attention to the sport, Lechien and Wardy. When they phased out it was Keidrowski followed by Henry and then Carmichael. After that it's kinda been meh... not because I don't care but they are all kids to me at this point. I just enjoy good racing and want zero off the track drama.

If it's anyone right now, it would be GP guys. Herlings and Gasjer are my guys.

Now days..... idk man.... I guess imma a fan of Sasha and davies....  

I don't have guys I exclusively like, I have a scale of basically every rider stretching from like to dislike and it's constantly updating

Interesting to me, it seems like villopotos name is hardly ever mentioned much in regards to years past.  

I was RC, then James, then villo, then ET for a long time, now im on the hunter bandwagon. 250s I cheered for j mart a lot, liked ando more then, im in on Davies now. And Juju, like him too.

Always watched Dean Wilson, cause he rode a lot here when he lived in calgary back in the day.

When it all started for me, the Honda boys, Bailey and O'Show were my favorites.  I liked RJ but those two were my guys. I loved Lechein too. The way he rode kind of reminds me of Jett.

Here's a timeline...

Early to mid 80s: Bailey and O'mara

Late 80s and Early 90s: JMB, Cooper

Mid 90s to 2000: Damon Huffman, Henry, Dowd

Early 2000s: RC, KDub

Mid 2000s: KDub, James, Hepler

Late 2000s: Dungey, Canard

After that Dungey and Canard remained. But ET was added to my list.

Villians

Believe it or not, Wardy was my first Villian, but only because of the O'Show rivalry.  I'm a huge fan of his now and have been since the late 80s.

Jeff Mataisivich:  I just didn't respect his persona.  I like working class heros, not flashy.

Emig: I was at the SD supercross when he ran up and kicked Larocco in the head. Also, his extra wide bike was sometimes a bit dirty.

Alessi: Seemed to come in with zero respect.

And everyone's favorite, Jason Lawrence. I don't think I need to explain that one.

Now Deegan is the obvious villain, the same reason as Alessi, but way worse.

Mine over the years : Decoster, Magoo, Barnett, Stanton, Dowd, Bubba. Currently Shimoda. 

I like the Hunter brothers and Kenny

In the 250’s, Seth Hammaker. I think he could’ve controlled this year had he not gotten injured. 

For my underdogs, pulling for Nick Romano and Garrett Marchbanks

I think RV is underrated, but he's wayyyy undermentioned. I think a lot of people don't rate him fairly, but beyond that people don't talk about him nearly enough. People talk about James, Dunge, McGrath, Reed, maybe even Windham more and I consider him better than all of them

I don’t think he’s rude at all most people say he’s realy chill. He’s just socially awkward, you gotta remember, most of these kids dropped out of public school around middle school and went straight to homeschooling. By default most will be a little awkward or shy.

250 contenders: Kitchen
450 contenders: Lawrence (either)
Moto twilight: Hill (Plessinger's got the moniker but Hill's the real cowboy IMO)

Cole Davies

That is a good one! Seriously, we have a lot of these similar stories each year. Makes me really love the sport. Tampa definitely is one of those races you'll watch again once in a while

Best to ever watch riding a bike to this day is villo for me. Dude was just made for this. 

JL18.  But I’m also looking forward to Sacha (and Lucas) coming over.  I hope Sacha decimates our 250 class.  Sacha’s over the top win at all costs type of riding is the perfect complement to our current crop of uninspired 250 riders (slight exception to Davies).  I’d rather watch mash reruns than the current 250 class.

Sexton. Grew up very close to where he did. Played high school sports against Lamoille, his tiny hometown. I don't follow gncc much but Cody Barnes is from same area as well. 

Davies has stated multiple times he doesn’t care for the spotlight and I think that’s the person we get at the podium speeches. If you watch his interviews with Star’s PR gal (Peanut’s wife) he’s actually hilarious and very down to earth. He and Minear are two peas in a pod under the blue tent and bring a lot of life to the team.

Same here. He rode on the front wheel pretty far before he went over. I was so bummed and I'm bummed again about his current Injury. I hope he makes a full recovery before A1

Davies is another humble kid that I admire. He will go far....
