I’d be willing to bet that if he were leading the playoff standings, he wouldn’t have said that. He may have quietly thought it, but I doubt he would have expressed it publicly.
I have huge respect for Hunter. And can understand some of the riders frustration with the playoffs. It’s a long season. And having boring one line tracks in soccer stadiums is not what we expected or told. Hopefully next week delivers. But I must say it’s kind of disappointing that some of the guys complaining are not a little more great full to have the opportunity to make some good money at the end of the year. Especially for the second level teams and there riders. And the privateers. There’s some very good money that can be earned that wasn’t previously there. Again, the playoffs , it needs some work and they need to really focus on hybrid tracks and make this special for fans and the riders. But constant complaining and not being somewhat thankful for the extra income is not really good for our sport moving forward. Just a opinion

I really like the playoffs but it could use some tweaking. 1st of all the tracks are nothing but tamed down sex tracks. Come on guys you have a whole year to get creative. 2nd of all score by Motos and not just the overall scores.
Add one race to the outdoor and SX series and put the money into those series would be great. The thing I like about this current format though , is that a lot of back markers can make some decent cash to end the season.
They should just remake the old monster cup tracks. minus the joker lane thing.

I was going to create a post after MX something along the lines of viewer fatigue regarding the upcoming SMX races.
The first time in my motocross supercross viewing history where I feel fatigued and over it after watching both sx mx going down to the wire.
I cannot imagine what its like for the riders especially Hunter, it seems like this year particually riders are attending with no enthusiasm, it has to stop.
Would he be complaining about it if he was leading the points ?
I feel the same about the AMA series but not MXGP, even though the championships in the AMA series have been much closer, I just think the broadcast always feel the same and very formulaic. In my opinion the MXGP broadcast is just so much better.
I think the other part is the culture and fanbase of the two, it seems like every round Deegan is saying or doing some stupid shit and I'm just sick of the drama, he's an influencer first and a racer second. Then if I see anything on social media the comments are full of people on social media who know nothing about racing praising Deegan for whatever random shit that doesn't matter. Prime example of why gatekeeping is needed but that's another topic.
By contrast MXGP is just purely about the racing and when there is drama between riders it's barely acknowledged. It just feels like a much more premium series. Like F1 vs Nascar

I don't know man, seems odd to complain about racing dirt bikes for a million dollars.
I think his point was that they did the 3 races to screw over WSX. I imagine WSX is a lot more fun, traveling to different countries, interacting with new fans, and a lot less pressure.
F1 drivers complain about tracks, their cars, the series, the regulations, etc., and they make 1-60+ million dollars a year.
Just because they make good money riding a dirt bike it doesn't mean they don't have concerns or things they don't like.

Yes I agree. The reason is the purpose not the provision (money). Without true purpose it can be miserable even if they are racing for a million as stated or whatever the number is.
I see a Rider/Team Union finally happening.
Feld is probably already preemptively looking for scabs in case it happens.
