Triumph took less than an hour to turn down my buy back request on my 25 450 RC

Triumph's new slogan should be

"Making TM Moto looking like a reasonable purchase since 2024."

Seriously, this kind of grade school tantrum by the OP makes me want to get a Triumph.

A 10yr old stuck in an old man's body.

No wonder Triumph told you to pound sand. Surprised the dealer just isn't leaving your bike on the sidewalk for you to pick up whenever, but you are probably the type to sue too.

The OP is 61 years old acting like a 6 year old. The world isn’t fair. Sell the bike after the recall repairs have been made, take the hit, and buy another bike.

It’s not that difficult of a solution to come to

Triumph can do as they please... if they want to get a rep for great customer service, they cut the check and buy it back... seen that dozens of times in my life on various cars, trucks and bikes...

No... they defff aren't mandated to do it... absolutely not... you are correct there...

BUT.... is cutting a 15k check actually saving cash vs a thread like this that will run off dozens/hundreds of potential buyers???

Then there's just doing the right thing..... which of course, u think is unthinkable... Yet still exists in this world by some companies....

plus....

Triumph is loaded rn.... their sales have tripled worldwide since startin to sell those Bajaj 400s... they have the cash... they just run by people like you....

They are fixing the bike. Its not like they told him to just eat it.    He is being a bit over the top about it.

I can understand being a bit bummed about the issues. And it taking a while to get them fixed.  But that's not really a valid reason for the company to buy a bike back.

If I came across this thread and was considering buying a Triumph.  And I already knew about the recalls , this thread would have no impact on my choice to buy or not. In my opinion the OP is making themselves look worse than Triumph .

It wouldn't hurt for Triumph to offer their customers something for the time lost riding.  But its a bit unrealistic to expect them to buy the bike back because there is a recall and  a wait for parts.

Without all these posts on vital and Facebook I would have had a Triumph. Instead I bought 2027 SXF 450.

It turns out it was a vise decision, because of approximately 10 people around me, 8 have multiple problems. 2 has only had the 250 for 15h. 2 have ditched the bike where of one Triumph Pro rider.

It's a complete shit show, with multiple issues and they haven't fixed anything really. They just bandaid it.

It's also why there is no resell value on the bikes.

Yeah I almost bought 2 triumphs but actually ended up going with 2 Kawis instead and for the last year I’ve had zero issues and life has been great with them.

After seeing multiple people complain about issues with them (even though they look and sound cool) I just didn’t want the possible headache.

After seeing the post on here with the guy talking about splitting the cases and grinding then welding something in the transmission to fix it from coming out of gear, I was completely clocked out after reading that. Who wants to have to do that to a brand new bike? Why sell something with a faulty transmission?

Well , I still want a triumph at some point.

The factory bikes have already won a British MX & enduro championship, and they are currently 1st & 2nd in the MX2 world championship, so Triumph CAN build a good factory bike, they just need to sort the hit or miss quality control of these early production bikes.

Send another email to Sean, CC Satu and Mark. That'll help you get some traction.
(use the naming convention of Sean's email address to guess for Satu and Mark)

I have a 26 TF450. Also had a 24 TF250. For me it's been a great bike. My 250 I put 35hrs on, sold it to a kid that races locally and he still has it far as I know. My 450 has been solid. Yeah I read all the horror stories. Seems A LOT of the opinions were from people who did not own one or were just repeating what they read (from someone else that didn't have one). Read some of the guys who had them and they admitted they had no issues but were leery after reading all the bad press. I commend Triumph for stepping up and updating any flaws the bike might have. I'm sure it's real expensive. My 450 was at 40hrs and I hadn't had any serious issues with it but at Triumphs expense they updated it with a new head ($), shift star selector, clutch plates and other small pieces. Most other mfg's wouldn't do anything after 30 days. I've put on 2 hrs since the recall and the bike ran great. The shifting was improved by the new part. Hopefully in 27 they can get everything sorted out. Wont take much. Maybe spec a 50 tooth sprocket on it with a little spicier mapping so the bike can get the love it deserves from the magazines.

You mean people has made up horror stories about Triumph?

Just go to Facebook and check the posts, and then you have vital posts with picture, and then you have friends most likely. Every day pretty much someone posts on Triumph issues on Facebook, same things coming back. Transmission, leaking cylinders, total break downs, melting sprockets, electronic failures.

It's no end to it. And also then consider, Triumph has an insignificant market share. Still blowing up with people with issues.

Issues are fine, but come on, it's the third year with the same issue.

Don't have to make anything unfortunately.

"Without all these posts on vital and Facebook I would have had a Triumph"

Thanks for proving my point. The internet rules. Random strangers make up your mind. You have ZERO idea if what you're reading is true or false or just posted by someone wanting to participate. You have no idea if the guy blew up his bike cause he never changed the oil or lost a drain plug etc. Crappy maintenance will kill a bike too in short order.

Funny thing is, in all the Magazine shootouts, and hundreds of combined hours that all those magazine bikes were put through, the only issue reported (that I saw) was the shifting. They even said if it wasn't for the shifting it would have rated up towards the top. Amazing they were not having all these reported issues.

Again. Kudos to Triumph for standing behind their bikes. I wouldn't want to fix some of these bikes either.

Track Cumulative Days Out of Service: If the dealer is backordered on the new cylinder heads or clutch components and holds your bike for over 30 days, this is often the easiest way to qualify for a lemon claim.

10 Days and Counting!!!

I'm not saying that I would buy one. Just that the way this guy is posting is making him look like a major dick instead of hurting Triumph more. There is enough info out there that points to them being a risky bike to buy and this thread  repeats some of the same info and then adds on a person who sounds super intitled and  insults other posters who are offering help.

I'm honestly in shock that he is as old as he is. I was expecting him to be a 16 year old kid  who has had his parents buy him everything.   I have to think that there is something else that is going wrong that he's unable to talk about and is  channeling all of that aggression into how he feels about the bike.  Anybody who is as old as he is that has been around the sport as long as he has, should know that  you risk exactly this happening when you buy a first year model  never mind a first year model in a new to the brand segment.

I'm not saying the bike or Triumph is great . I would hope that they actually fix the bikes. If the fix is truly a band aid and the issues come back right away, I may have more sympathy for somebody posting the way he has. But without knowing how the bike is after its fixed ,I think its a little early to be throwing fits.

I don't go to facebook for anything, and definitely not for any "facts" that would help when choosing a new dirtbike ! !

Do you believe everything on Facebook?

Facebook groups have more real world evidence and accounts of dirt bike mechanical issues than any official dirt bike publication. The sample size is dramatically bigger than just a couple bikes a magazine gets. So yes, going to FB for more insight into a dirt bike is a great idea. On the other end, you won't typically see someone with isn't having a problem posting on FB so it can skew it to a negative look.

i really want to buy a triumph street bike, but even the stories i hear on those are enough to deter me. and that model has been around in some form or fashion for 15 years. just poor parts availability and weird stuff that doesn't happen to japanese bikes really. im rooting for triumph as a brand, but they've gotta figure a few things.

Maybe you should "break out the clippings" and send them to Triumph

when they realise who they are dealing with , maybe they will immediately do the buy-back you want

( Please don't post the "clippings" here,  I don't think you will get many positive comments)

Don't agree. Moto mags are made up of people that actually ride and are paid to put the bike through their paces and report back. That's why mfg's give them bikes. Social media sites are for the most part a joke. For entertainment purposes only. Too many clowns posing as experts. No thanks.

Curious here too. It has been asked a couple times, but OP did you only give them the option to buy it back? kinda seeming like this might be a 2 sided story... Not that it makes Triumphs issues non-existent, and obviously they got big problems worthy of bitchin about, but maybe they were fine with warranty on the cylinder etc. If thats the case, then this is a bit misleading and you should just get it warrantied and sell it. I guarantee the manufacturer does not have a mechanism in place to buy their own used bikes back. It sucks, I realize you would still probably lose money, but thats a gamble many have taken with different things in the past and sometimes it doesn't work out.

I am so tempted to go grab one of the kawi 327's when they hit dealer floors, but I know it's probably better to wait and see if there are any of these types of threads popping up in regards to that bike over the next year.

They can fix it. It's currently at the shop but its not fixed so I can't race.  Therefore I want my money to buy a different bike pretty simple shit here!!

So they are fixing your bike under warranty/recall, but you started a thread about how they wont buy it back on Vital?

Yep. Pretty simple stuff, I agree. Can't believe you have it so wrong. I think you answered my curiosity. Thanks.

The Internet makes the world a small place, They should take a leaf out of Beta book, I remember seeing on the net when they had issues, and addressed the issues even with a bunch of hours on the bike, then people was saying how great they dealt with it.

Yep, Beta has always been awesome to deal with. Just had 50 hours on my 450RX and started to see brass flakes in my filter. Took it to my dealer and Beta sent me a complete engine free of charge. All the other teething issues I had were all taken care of as well. Ive bought two more since.

Wow. You never even rode a national hey. Nobody cares how fast you are, or where, on your dirt bike.

BTW this thread is now helping Triumph more than its hurting them.

Ok,  1.Fix it and ride it.  2. Fix it and sell it. 3. Sue and try to get a buy back.    Sounds like #1 is your best choice.  I would go with #2 and take the big $ hit. #3 is years and $$$. Not a smart move.  Good luck.  Ps. Nobody gives a rats ass about how fast you are.
