What would make this more meaningful is for it to say WHY Marchbanks is out. Kawi out on supporting it, he’s hurt, doesn’t want to go, etc
Racers race
Because Marchbanks needs to get back to SX training healthy for next year to secure his future in this sport. That's way more important than a random GP that happens every year.
None of these riders owe any of us a reason they don't want to go race for free in the off season when one mistake ruins your entire next year. See RJ at Ironman last year. He sent it into the ground for us last year and no one cared this year and he had to scramble to find a ride last minute. Had he raced SX and had some good results, he probably signs much faster and has more options than just Beta and Ducati.

PSA for people who aren’t familiar with Motocross of Nations. It can be pronounced many ways.
MXON = saying each letter
MXdN or MXDN = saying each letter
You can say all of the words = Motocross of Nations or if you’re a retro guy Motocross des Nations.
However you CAN NOT pronounce it as M X ‘on’. You will sound as dumb as the people who say they “got 4th on the Holeshot”. Haven’t heard it in the past but I’ve heard it multiple times from callers on podcasts recently. I think it’s coming from people who just read everything they know instead of talking with others.
Don’t sound dumb. Say it correctly.
Can't remember who conducted the interview earlier this year with Dan Fahei but he spelled out why Kawasaki USA does not support any MXdN outside the US. Something along the lines that they are here to sell bikes and promote the brand in the US not Europe.
Not sound logic to me , but ok, whatever dude.
Kawasaki Japan and Yamaha Japan should talk with them, this doesn't look good.
Webb racing a Husky would be interesting.
I've been saying this for years now. Deaf ears.
Not much more to be said really. 😉
well said...
I know we will never hear it, but would be nice to get the opinion of the Combs and Felds if they think the event is worth sponsoring and if they would be willing to be part of the solution. What we say moto media, can we get them on record to what they think? While we are at it let’s get the options of the major teams; KTM, Honda, Kawi, Star. Maybe even Hep and others. Should be able to ask this weekend for everyone except Hep and Feld, let’s hear it!
Combs and Felds don't make money from it, their opinion would be the same as their opinion on WSX.
Still would like to hear if they think it’s important for the sport or not, and if they think it is if they are willing to be part of the solution. I’m pretty sure Big Dave would’ve supported it.
Do they think WSX, a series they don't control, is important for the sport?
Tim Gajser is IN, he's gonna race a bike he doesn't like with a team that has almost no chance of winning. All for free 🙃.
Loading a bike in the back of a box van and traveling a few hundred kilometers is much different than taking an entire team across the ocean to compete at the MXoN. The days of two-strokes, box vans and small teams are over, and the logistics are astounding and much different. I'm surprised Rob doesn't see that.
While I respect what Rob did, It's unlikely he would have done the same in this day and age had he lived almost 6,000 kilometers away.
That makes sense…if they weren’t racingWSX the following weekend a box vans ride away.
Pit Row
They are? Where was this confirmed?
How old are you?You missed the meaning of Robs journey! If Dangerpussy wanted to go,he would be in Ernée.He could pay this trip from his pocket money.
Stop pretending like this is a Yamaha or even Star racing issue.
Deegandashian doesn’t want to go, so they are smokescreening for him. It’s that simple.
The difference between WSX and MXdN is vast. MXdN has history and prestige, WSX is a fledgling series that is trying to establish its self.
It would be interesting to hear Davey’s perspective, and to a lesser degree Feld’s. Luongo and Coombs have talked about a combined MXGP/US National race before. I’m sure they view Des Nations as an important race. They built the playoff schedule around it.
We've seen Strijbos make it happen without support from his own team in Assen, he got support there from Wilvo Yamaha. We've seen Tonus make it happen without much support from his original team back in Maggiora if memory serves me correctly. He was racing a Dixon Kawasaki with PC suspension.
So Feld and MX Sports help, and no mention of InFront? I'm all for paying the teams, but it should be all the teams - not just AMA. And it should be based on how far they're traveling.
But I bet if you compare the cost as a percentage of salary it would cost Degz less than what Rob spent to make it happen.
Why would the AMA sponsor/underwrite teams/riders cost to attend a for-profit event where the promoter is making millions in revenue and undisclosed profit? Infront puts the event on and profits from it. They've done an excellent, absolutely extraordinary, job over the decades in positioning this as an opportunity for riders and countries to compete on behalf of their home countries - when frankly what it is first is an opportunity for IF to bank millions over the years. It's a genius business model that accrues to them an inventory of riders and teams for free - off which they generate millions of revenue. I'm a businessman it can only dream that one day my inventory of goods for sale might be offered me for free. Gig is up. Time for IF to pick up team /rider cost.
Alternatively this ought to be structured as a non-for-profit event and any net earnings after reasonable expenses distributed back to the teams.
If I'm feeling retro, do I also get to call the 250 class Trophée des Nations?
And that probably still put a larger dent in his personal economy percentage wise compare to what it would do to Deegans…
Glad that Hymas and other riders that got some actual class raised their hands and said that they would race any bike size and pay for their own trip if they got the chance to ride.
It’s that kind of heart we want to see in this event.
@GrapeApe
I read your deleted post!Gajser will do the same in 2 years to race your prima donnas!
So go ride for free the weekend before and maybe crash out and miss the race that actually pays you like a career should? Or if you're star, take the chance you ship everything over, something happens, and you miss out on the show money you're promised to fund everything?
Again, this isn't on the riders or teams. This is on in front. It's the promoters job to make sure an event is the best it can be. Not anyone else's
