Well, Dodgerboy just got another get-out-of-jail-free card..

What's the chances the Kardashians.. I mean Deegans... made Yamaha do that post as a get out of jail card, so it doesn't look like it was their decision

And then Cooper Webb UNO Reversed on them and says he's happy to go (he's still in contract during MXoN right?) I guess he'd fund it himself

I wouldnt go to a local race with just 1 bike unless it was all i had.

The thing is , WSX is a week later in the UK . Its a 500 mile drive from Ernee to Birmingham, you need 2 bikes, and 2 sets of suspension, and 2 spare engines to do one , or both.

The cost is putting them in boxes and sending them and people, and that is already happening.

But its no loss, TBH, means we wont have to put up with him on TV all weekend.

If cost and logistics were the real blockers for MXoN, our fanbase would have carried it.

A USA2MXON-style dropship store — 'Send the Stars to Ernée' tees, hoodies, the lot — and the trip would've been funded in a weekend, at zero cost to any rider. This fanbase has never once failed to open its wallet for its riders on the world stage. The money was never the problem, and everyone knows it.

Which makes the press release hard to swallow: the bikes are going to Europe anyway, a week later, for WSX. Freight, staff, logistics — all of it already in motion. WSX just pays for it, $25k a bike lease plus the crew. So the shipping and support costs cited as the reason for stepping back were always going to be paid for by someone. Just not by this event.

I respect the decision. I just don't respect the reason. The bike was already on the boat — the only thing that didn't get funded was the excuse.

Maybe Deegs developed a fear of flying after "MFers dove that thing" a few days ago. LOL!

On the bright side, Kay de Wolf is getting more fans. I'm here for it. Kay ain't scared.

When the rumor came out that Deegs was going I thought damn, I’m going to have to apologize for saying no way he goes. Then he saved me from doing that by having his team come out with this PR…thanks Deegs!

The Deegans are more worried about image. They don’t want to go to MXoN and get absolutely mopped. If Deegan was winning the outdoor title, I firmly believe he would’ve went. I believe Star approached them, and if Deegan really wanted to go; they would’ve sent him to race.

Fuck him. Haven’t been a fan, never will be. The whole “RIP Jett” and shit talk, but can’t back it up in the premier class already says he’s going to under-perform. I hate the whole “he’s learning” excuse. He has stated he was coming to the 450 class to make a splash and win races this summer, I love how it’s backfired in his face.

Sort of confused, the arguement the riders dont get paid, i get that...but.....with social media why could they not do a whole blog on the event, seems they would get a lot of attention and get the money thru that. Seems a big picture team or rider would look at it as an opportunity not a burden????

every year is the same old story......the money !!!!!

so my question is why AMA does not support the team ??

just a few week ago we could see an interview with Romain Febvre where he was explaining how well the french federation prepares for the race and how much they put on it to help the french racer to have the best chance to win.....all other national federations also do their best to send their best racers to represent their country......

so why in america there is a money problem to support the american pro team to race the world ??? AMA is the biggest moto federation, rulling the the biggest moto nation, with the biggest moto market, still they keep hiding behind the money excuse to not put up the best fight against much smaller teams....

some time ago, USA was the dream team, they won it all, they had everything they wanted, everybody would go, even family, never was the money a problem ....... only after 2011 the money started to be talked about and then used as the excuse not to go......

american honda races the same races as star, the same schedual, they also race to win......and never the money was the problem with them, the Lawrence bros dont go this year because they want to rest out the off season, not because of the money !!!!!!

team usa should just go out and show their best fight and pride like they used to do, insted of just running their mouth and hinding behind excuses like they do now........

I do feel bad for American fans. For the next ten years your best rider is going to be an absolute bitch. Even if Deegan somehow wins the outdoor series next year, he is absolutely NOT going to Assen. I'd bet my house on that.

I can't remember a more unlikable high profile rider .

It's a real shame that mxon isn't close to the place wsx is paying them to go to and star couldn't use that to their advantage to cover some of the mxon costs since their rider wanted so badly to go.....

We should call Star and tell them that the route to the next National is longer than between MXoN and WSX 😂

I love how people try to play down the importance of the mxdn. It’s always worse when it’s in Europe and suddenly becomes more important when it’s in the US. It’s the USA’s chance to pitch their best riders against the best of the rest, it’s not insignificant.

And let’s me clear. If money were an issue there are plenty of people that would step up and pay the bill. Probably forum members.

Why isn’t a dollar a ticket at every smx event allocated to the nations?

I believe a large number of teams and riders are frustrated with the money grab by MXGP. Enough money is made on the event to cover the expenses of riders and teams. Sure Haiden, Jett and Hunter have the money to attend by why should they perform for free while MXGP gouges fans, manufacturers, and riders. Oh they are supposed to represent their country out of patriotism? Why doesn't MXGP and Luongo show the same patriotism. This should not be a money making event and it won't be for long if the status quo continues. RIP MXDN. Why do most look elsewhere for money when the solution is obvious.

It’s so funny when people try to use this as a “gotcha”.

The Lawrences won the Chamberlain trophy for their country back-to-back and came out almost a year in advance saying “we’ve been burning the wick from both ends and need to have a real off-season this year.” Just 3 days ago Deegan said “it’s looking pretty good” in reference to racing the MXoN for Team USA when asked by Lewis only for the team to cover his ass again today and say “we’re not going”. Where’s Haiden’s comment on this?

Gee, I wonder why the fans view these two completely different situations differently?

Got ya!

Hunter and Jett aren't going because they believe that racing SMX and MXGP is too much and they need a rest. I agree with them. They made the choice to race SMX instead of MXDN because of the money to be made at SMX. I would have done the same thing. Fill Luongo and MXGP's pockets or go fill my own. You can see what Haiden, Jett, and Hunter chose to do. Exactly what the rest of you would do.

Has nothing to do with it. Why should Deegan or any other rider pay MXGP to race. Shouldn't it be the other way arouind?

You seem to be under informed about the relationship of AMA Pro Racing and the SMX series. They are one and the same.

Not really. They award a supercross champion and a motocross champion with separate titles. They also award an SMX title. Riders during contract time can negotiate what races they will compete in. Especially Jett and Hunter who are such a big draw, they can almost write their own contract. You don't seem to be fully up to speed on how sports contracts work.

“Not really?” Sure, they’re separate titles, but they share a common points scheme that seeds them into the SMX series. It’s all related and the biggest payoff of all happens there.

It does seed them in, that's about it. My point is that at contract time the Lawrences could have opted out of SMX and rode MXDN instead. No one cares about a made up SMX title. The SMX title is joked about quite often on this very forum. The only 3 titles anyone cares about is MXGP champ, Supercross champ, and AMA motocross champ. SMX is all about the money. Unfortunately MXDN is also all about the money for Luongo and MXGP. I don't blame any of the riders for skipping MXDN.

TLDR so apologies if brought up already but do you think the latest Deegan drama of almost crashing their jet is a cover for not going, or did they really almost crash? Seems like political cover you see these days...

No, because they've gone every year they were selected up to now, and there wasn't "...again" on the end of the title, unlike Dodgerboy..

I said it before. MXON is a waste of money and the risk is too great for injury...for a race that has literally no meaning any longer. It's a fun race to watch, but the amount of races has exceeded the need for this event. Good on Yamaha for having a bit of common sense.

U.S. RIDERS AND TEAMS ONLY CARE ABOUT THE MXON WHEN IT IS ON HOME SOIL

There, I said it.

Stop lumping all US riders in with guys like Deegan. Webb, Hampshire, Plessinger, Tomac, Barcia, and many, many more would be there in a heartbeat.

Yup...I know you're being sarcastic, but the MXON is a waste. We already have international riders here in the states. We have MXON every weekend. So, to haul your ass and equipment to another country...spend god knows how much money...risk injury or just getting sick to show up at a race with no meaning and then not get paid. Eff that.

I gave you some really good advice, you could get help. No need to suffer, they have support groups for guys like you.

Deegan apologist.

Creepy guy who does nothing but shit on everything not named Jett Lawrence and spends free time making AI enhanced pictures of dudes.

I don't see any apologies from me. I do see a lot of creepy pictures from you though.

You guys act like pussies.

Risking their livelihood and also paying for the privilege to do it? I have a better idea. How about the promoter pay for the riders cost? I'm not even stating for the riders to turn a profit just that it doesn't cost them money to represent their country. They are already giving enough by risking their career to represent their country, isn't that enough? Let's also not make them pay for the privilege.

"we have international riders here in the states". Yes, and that's the issue - as soon as it's the other way round and the states is asked to go international, the cost and logistics are suddenly a problem..

Wild watching people crap on Deegan while the Lawerence’s backed out weeks ago and no one said a peep. No one should be mad at the riders when the promoter is making all the money and forcing riders to pay their own way. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze anymore and if MXoN wants a good race they should pay.

People need to lighten up on the patriotism deal. This is not the same race it was twenty years ago. To expect pro riders that are one injury away from losing their income stream to race for nothing in basically a fundraiser for the FIM and it's promoters is nuts. Plenty of racers in the past have chosen not to go as well as current riders and teams, they are entitled to their choices. Like everybody else I think the best riders involved would be cool, but if they choose not to, I respect their choices.

Racing is not a charity event. It costs a sh*t load to go international and race for a couple days for a race that means...nothing. Somebody is making money and if it's not the teams and riders...what's the effing point? This isn't the first time a team has decided not to go. It's a classic cost vs benefit.

That would make a great investigative reporting project for the moto media. Why can’t USA perform like the French federation? Should be easy for Pulp to look into this since one of their good friends heads up the fund raising for US. Seems like the template is there, the US just needs to execute it…

The NFL...MLB...soccer...NBA players...skiing, pick a pro sport...all get paid to go and play wherever they go 100% of the time. But, MX racers are supposed to just happily donate their time without pay, foot the transport costs and risk career ending injury for what?? lol. I'd tell MXON to pound sand too.
