However, if their estimates are correct for numbers they would have brought even more money in. There were 114 primary bikes used at the MXoN, so let's say there were 150 bikes shipped to the USA at a cost of $4,000 per bike. The total cost to ship those 150 bikes to the usa and back home would be roughly $1.2 million. There's still 9.7 million dollars of revenue left over not including the revenue from viewers online, additional income for vip passes, etc.

 

I still stand behind my comment. The event should help offset costs for teams and riders and then, assuming there is a profit, which I would imagine there would be, the rider's would get 10-20%. That is how I would run the event. If it is not profitable to do this then they should stop doing the event or do it every 4 yrs to lower the cost to teams.

Having it every year has cheapened it and makes it too regular. It should be a special race that you dont get many chances to go to in your career so the top guys want to go. With usa not wanting to go very much, australia sitting out this year, deegan always refusing to go and now wont go unless he gets paid the whole thing is ridiculous. Plus theyre making a ton of money off it. Every year needs to end.
