Trigger finger, how to cure?

I tried Everything - the only solution ( for me) was 3 little cuts at the base of 3 fingers on each hand - so 6 done at the same time.

I just tried again to put up the pictures of both Paws, but, it just doesn't work - I think it's because they were taken in HEIC format ( buggered if I know what that is) instead of JPeg - but, no luck. 

I woke up through the surgery - happened too with my Carpal Tunnels - and made the 2 surgeons, ( and others ) working on me  laugh so hard ( I'm told I'm  quite the Comedian when under Sedation and The Knife -  while being a Dour Grump, normally) that the Theater Nurse came over to try to get me to shut up. Didn't work though! I get them done at the Sydney Hand / Eye Hospital on Macquarie St, with the 'Piggy' out front, where they do such simple Ops ' En Masse '.

Have you watched an Ultrasound of what goes on with the finger that's 'Triggering' ?

It's a crack up : you see a horizontal bubble form at the base of you finger / top of the palm, and then it 'Pops', and you finger 'clicks' it's release. 

It's just weird - seemingly, nothing to do with the joint where the clicking / jamming is. 

Our bodies are strange things, indeed!

I tried everything under the sun and had to have surgery for it. That was on my left middle finger. Now I have it developed it in the actual trigger finger on my right hand. Ibuprofen seems to help, but also frowned upon for daily use. 

I had it due to prolonged use of a pressure washer. After a few months of physio and rehab, nothing worked and had to get surgery, as much as I tried to avoid it. Based on some comments above, other stories and my own experience, nothing will fix it except surgery 

I've been taking Apple Cider Vinegar and Tumeric pills for a few years and my trigger finger has reduced significantly.  Or it could be that I retired and don't spin wrenches 8+ hours a day.  I don't fucking know.  Once I figured out that it really didn't "hurt" but is a freaky thing...I kinda just lived with it.

Easy answer-a cortisone shot. I had trigger finger in my right thumb and it hurt like a motherfucker. Had to unlock it every morning. It has been 2 years now and the relief happened within and few days in one week like it never happened. Do it. Find a good sport med doctor. Took all of 5 minutes.

Sounds like @bents has something to consider. I had it in both middle fingers which I had surgically repaired about 5 years ago once they got worse locking up (I just turned 63 for reference). I had to get the right one done a second time since it still locked up when i went in for a checkup. The scars are finally working away but were a bit annoying post surger. 

Had it done this morning so Will let you know in a couple days.

Had trigger finger across all fingers and had sheath surgery on the right hand in January. 

That one surgery fixed trigger fingers on both hands. Weird, but super happy with the result, as I have zero triggers or numbness anymore.

I had it on my left ring finger bad, was constantly locking up. Once I was able to get my wedding ring off it cleared up completely over the course of a few months. After thirty five years it had gotten way too tight!

 My wife had it and an cortison shot took care of it, it'  been a year and feeling good.  

i did the cortisone shot and it worked for awhile… now i just ignore it because last thing i need is another surgery! 

Cortisone shot cured mine. 

Lumpy I forgot to tell you in the Carpal Tunnel thread , when I came too after I had mine done my underwear was on inside out and backwards  !!

Glad it helped for you! When it gets bad enough, the cortisone won't be helping. It's a temporary fix. Also, cortisone has some bad side-effects for some people. 

I've had multiple cortisone injections, and although the very first one worked for 6-months or so the problem came back and was even worse than before. The following two injections I had were basically useless, as the issue never really went away only got a little less frequent. I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll have to have surgery for any kind of lasting "fix"...which I'm not especially excited about. 

Well that’s highly irregular. 

I was not put under they just injected something and I laid there and didn't feel anything but when it slowly wore off this shit hurts but tramadol and Tylenol is helping. Right now its Basically do very little with the hand for 2 days. 

Taking the Bandage off tomorrow then I can see the 4 places where he went in.

Cortisone Shots : I WISH they worked for me, for many of my ailments, But, they have NEVER done a damned thing for me.

I seem to have an immunity to the stuff - I guess I'm weird. Well, I Know I'm Weird. 🤪

You have a high pain tolerance.  You waited past the point where cortisone was effective!

Same with me.  Do the "fix" , get it behind you and get on with your life! It is a minor surgery.

Sorry to hear that it didn't work out the same way it did for me. My Dr also told me that getting more than one shot in my thumb (if necessary) is totally fine and does not cause any kind of long term damage. I also got a cortisone shot in my right should about 6 weeks ago-had pain 24-7 for 6 months. The whole shoulder was inflamed and i could not get it settled down. The cool thing now is that my doc uses a laser to guide the shot in exactly the right spot-no guessing. He can use it to see right into the joint. I got one shot in 3 locations-the top of the bicep tendon, the bursa, and into the joint itself. The first 2 shots were little more than a pinch, but the 3rd one into the joint got my attention. My shoulder feels brand fucking new, full movement, no pain. I guess I'm lucky to have this stuff work for me. 

Like many have said, cortisone shot I had it on my thumb. When that stopped working I had surgery.

2nd day pain has subsided and doing icing to keep swelling down.

I had a similar issue called "Mallet Finger", the end of my middle finger on my right hand the tendon snapped at the last joint.

Couldn't straighten my finger out, at first they tried a splint to hold it in place to see if it would heal but that was a no go.

Surgery got it back to almost straight.

Kinda scary because I am a bass player so having that on my left hand would have sucked.
