Not a Deegan bashing or praising thread, but I'm surprised......

I figured Deegan would get a moto win or more in the second half of the season. The Lawrence brothers are fast,  and their starts are something special.

Deegan not even leading a lap - and he's fast as f. Is Prado at Pala the only person to lead a lap besides the bro's?

Imagine if the Lawrence brothers never came to America.

Imagine if Bob Hannah never got older, and slower!

Not surprised he hasn't won a moto, I'm surprised he hasn't led even a lap. Not even one lap, cmon. There's always a time the rookie will get a start and lead for like 15- 20min, before finally getting passed cause he's all pumped up. He's got the misfortune of going up against a couple of complete breasts in the Lawrence's

Certainly no lack of power on his bike ,he made 2 impressive (that I saw) passes on that up hill section ,just flat out pulled them going up hill.

I'm surprised a grown man hasn't created yet another Deegan thread on Vital.  Oh wait..

I am seriously thinking many would be able to relate to Kotex sponsorship in moto.  For decades that would have sound unheard of and ridiculous, but here we are.   I don't even care about Deegan, but you guys are turning this place FB/IG childish septic..

Do this; before you post a Vital thread, picture yourself in public in an autograph line surrounded by moto junkies for example.  Imagine saying out loud to the crowd around you whatever you are about to say on Vital.  If you think "no, I will look like an idiot if I say that out loud!" for what you would say in public - you do look like that here.  I know you feel secure with internet anonymity, but it is lame (and getting old), no matter what.

I think people were saying HD is better outdoors than indoors, that said and if true, then it will be interesting to see how he goes next year

I can't remember exactly but it's reminding me of his first 250 year, where he was always sorta just a little off the leaders pace but really consistent then boom came Washougal and don't look now but maybe a boom coming again haha.. I won't be surprised

Too bad his antics, mouth and personality make it very difficult to like the kid. I’m VERY surprised he’s not a frequent crasher given how he rides. Kid has mad skills. I’d like to like him but it’s just not in the cards.  He could be a class act and America’s darling but half the fans of the sport can’t stomach his BS. He ought to go watch how Dungey handled himself.

I compare him to Argentina, got all the skills, but no class, which makes it hard to support him

I suspect, he will be mixing it up for a race win by the end of the season though

Yes. Only 3 riders lead laps this season

112 = Hunter

104 = Jett

16 = Jorge

Credit where it’s due, the kid absolutely ripped the entire first moto. Next weekend on arguably his best track should be interesting.

I expected him to have more for Hunter and his brother . When you watch the races though it's clear as day the Honda guys have a superior bike set up over everyone else on the track.

I couldn’t agree more. Those Honda’s are dialed and the Brothers and Team get credit for the work put in testing. Is the Honda a better bike than the Yamaha out of the box?  Probably not , but theres no denying that the Brothers have a few years head start on DangerBoy when it comes to testing on the 450 and it shows. At any rate, I’m not surprised that Danger hasn’t won a moto and has been getting gapped. The Brothers are flying. The thing I’m surprised about more than anything this season, is how Hunter stepped up his game and closed the gap on Jett.

Even I expected him to get a moto by now... but he looks slower this yr on a 450 than last yr on 250... and now it seems he's just fine settling for 3rd... I think today, when he tried to pass bam bam on the outside, knowing bam owed him one, that told me all I need to know... he's got the want, but not the brains, to win at the 450 level...

This is what's fun about vital.... we watched the same race and I totally disagree.  I see him as getting better,  slowly, as the season goes on, but he can't get a start to save his life.  He went last to 4th moto one, and looks great doing it... rode well second moto too.  How long was he behind barcia for... who can be a pain in the ass to get by if he wants to be.

He'd be beating the 250 guys by 30+ every moto and wrapping up said title 3 rounds early.  That mix of kids-vets are way too inconsistent.

Deegan's approach to his career has been well guided by his parents. Slowly build, example let this 450 season play itself out, learn a lot from 2 of the best to ever do it. Him being there every single week, finishing on the podium is a hell of a rookie season!

He's not stupid. (He may say dumb shit, but that doesn't bother me at all because I was 20 years old once)

He’s been right with the brothers on the start the last 3 races 🤷‍♂️

This narrative now that Deegan is on an inferior bike is silly. Him and the Lawrences are top level riders on two of the best teams in the sport. Deegan's bike looked like it was working very well when he was coming through the pack in moto 1. He's just has a step to take to win a moto straight up. He's not that far off.

He’ll close up the 15 ish seconds he’s behind when he stops over revving the shit out of his bike. Until he masters that he’ll be a 3rd/4th place guy.

I was mostly speaking to yesterday regarding the starts.  His riding was on point.

He’s got a couple good starts at southwick and a top 5 yesterday.

He had top 5 start and Jett had it to a 23 seconds until gap and when he fell Hunter had it at 19 seconds lol. But ok!

Someone has said that?! I haven't seen it but I'm also not on here a lot. If so, that's completely retarded to think the Yamaha is inferior. The bikes are so close nowadays that it comes down to settings as evidenced by Tomac yesterday. When guys are comfortable it shows because of how they ride the bike.

Deegan's bike is fine, I do think he is learning to ride it though. Sometimes it seems he is wringing the thing out! It sounds like he's choking a cat!

I also agree with you that he's not that far off. No one is pointing out that he is consistently making Prado, a former world champion, look very pedestrian.

Deegan is for real and will contend in the future, but Jett is generational. To expect the next guy up to be a Jett, RC or Stew is to have unreasonable expectations.

If I remember correctly everyone bitched about how boring Ryan was….everweek.
If Hayden wasn’t racing it be pretty dam boring racing. Those brothers are just so good and there starts are there every race where Hayden’s are not.
