The grates are to much
No braking bumps or ruts either, and you have a 50% chance of getting the holeshot
So how's Goofy doing?
From a fan's perspective, what's the argument for keeping all of the starting assists? You core moto guys really get off on a light telling you where to hold the throttle before the computer controls it and the front wheel being held down on a surface with guaranteed traction? Every single one of those things was designed to make it easier yet some of you want to act like getting rid of all of it is being soft when the opposite is true.

Peg to ass, needed stitches, says he's fine but still needs to get imaging of tailbone when he gets home.
I think outdoors should be capped at 20-25 riders and indoors 14-16 riders. There’s simply too many riders. The first laps are insanely dangerous and then the lappers interfere with so many races. There’s times it’s 4 wide with riders 10+ seconds off the pace clogging the whole track. No point.
Look at the lap time drop off from about 12-14th compared to 24th. Let alone 34th…
A right hander after long start straight doesn't help with riders not able to cover the rear brake. I get it, they are professionals but still...
change starts to the way desert races used to run in the old days. Either clutch hand on helmet until flag drops or standing next to bike 1 hand on the bars or most extreme: park all the bikes in a line with engine off. Riders line up maybe 10 paces away from bike line and at flag drop you had to run for your bike, get on and kick start it to go... Only difference now would be Estart instead of kick making it easier.
Just rename the first turn the second turn. You know howa lot of elevators don't have a 13th floor, and that makes them safer. Same thing.
But seriously , it would be nice to make it safer somehow. Advances in gear would be nice to see. Making gear that is protective that Pros will actually wear. My sisters husband rides adventure bikes and rides year round in NE. WInter, snow, etc. He always says he dresses for the crash not the ride. The new airbag systems are nice to see, but seems like a lot of the top guys are not dressing for the crash. With many riders wearing gear that is the least restrictive feeling . High end pant/jerseys are thin and made to be stretchy and comfortable and offer little protection from abrasion. Modified boots to offer flexibility over protection. The newer soft style chest protectors and padding may be able to provide protection and the freedom and mobility that most pros prioritize over protection.
30 Bikes on the gate. 40 Bikes are too many on any motocross track.
AP7 washed his front out all by himself. How can people blame the grate, holeshot device or the start mapping?
Come on, this is motocross at the elite level.
Take away all the holeshot gadgetary and you will find that riders will still crash in the first turn.
None of these elite riders are complaining about the start and all the gadgets....
Its only the Vitard cupcakes bitching and moaning about it. Come on lads...harden up...
If that chick had died where are we at with this? She wasn’t far from it. Bad enough concussion that she’s been in dark room with no screens for days…
…Back in the day, no one ever got hurt racing dirt bikes.
Everyone just rode around on their 20 HP Hodaka Combat Wombats, wearing their open face helmets with lit cigarettes in their mouth and laughing like “On any Sunday”
Four strokes and fast riders and technical advancements have ruined motocross.
if Bob Hurricane Hannah and Jody Wiesel ran this sport everything would be awesome.
🤡
This place has turned into the fucking old folks home.
Moto is supposed to be a savage sport.
GWS AP
How about instead of right turns, track have three lefts off the start?
Get rid of starting devices and start mapping. This will cause more separation in the first corner.
The problem is lots of fans want the drama of first turn pileups.
Always curious where guys like you draw the line? Helmets and boots have gotten much better over the years, does embracing that make you a pussy? Goggles? What is it about the sport that you love that you think would be taken away if they got rid of start maps? Are start maps and rpm lights on the fender savage? You think you'd miss those and long for the savage old days where the ECU helped more with the start?
Honest question, is this the first season of moto/supercoss you've followed? I don't want to make assumptions.
Honest question, it’s like 50% of first turns have a pile up. Injury aside, what’s the point of qualifying when you flip a coin if you’ll even get thru the first turn…
Pit Row
This person (not going to make assumptions) has moved beyond technology and wants to change the fabric of the sport.
So, yes?
Surely you recognize this as the sarcasm that it is
Negative grape.
Have the riders run to their bikes at the first turn . That should take care of the issue.
I truly have no idea if it is or isn't
I love the replies. I agree with the ideas behind it and think it would work.
How would works connection stay in business though? I promise AMA is more concerned with this question than safe racing.
Selling over priced master cylinder caps lol.
Even if 50% of first turns have a crash, 50% of the riders don’t go down. So it’s not a coin flip if you’ll make it through.
Maybe make the start straight 1/2-1/4 of the distance.
There's just no downside to removing the starting devices and starting maps. Remove all starting devices and you now force guys to improve throttle control and body position, both good things. It's very likely to create more space in the first turn.
Mapping and traction control off the start are really the antithesis of what I want to see in this sport. Starts now not only hinge on the technique of the rider, but also how good their traction control software is..... that sucks and adds nothing to the sport as a fan.
