Most athlete contracts have personal conduct clauses. I'd think credible allegations of domestic abuse would violate a personal conduct clause. Thus the rider would have no viable claim of breach for getting bounced, if that's what happened.
Look at what happens when a MLB or NFL player is accused of hitting or hurting their spouse/girlfriend. Suspension, at the least, is quick to follow.

I didn't retaliate, I just prevented her from hitting me, which is very easy, they're about as strong as your average 12 year old boy, then left when the crazy didn't stop.
