You’ve got guys making $10 million a year busting out practice laps on the same track with kids on 60s and 80s… It’s just a matter of time until one of them is out for the year when some little turd crashes on the backside of a jump or moves over into the wrong line. I can’t believe this shit is actually real lol. There is not one single other professional sport….

Maybe the teams paying these guys tons of money should have a spot like STAR so their high paid guys aren’t on public track with little turds lol I don’t think you’ll see a quarterback from the NFL practicing at the local park getting ready for the season lol
Friday nights in full swing eh ?
Old news. We are onto bigger problems, like lappers, privateers, and photographers.
so facilities exist now.. (i just posted memes from this movie in three different threads...what a fking movie, i miss the 90s)

Yeah, sure until Prado breaks his leg on a Thursday before the nationals. Do you watch the YouTube videos?
It’s not a problem until it happens. This has always been the case. It wasn’t a problem for Husky until JA and Deano had catastrophes at GH. It won’t be a problem for the other teams until the same thing happens (and it’s only a matter of time). This industry isn’t the best at looking ahead (no pun intended).
If you want to, you can find plenty of NBA players participating in pickup games in the offseason and not always against other NBA players, but also against the average Joe. Especially if you hang around courts at college campuses. It’s not exactly the same thing, but it isn’t as completely different as you might think either.
They throw at high schools all the time. Don’t see why they couldn’t in a park.
I believe there is an interesting point made here….I just don’t know what it is.
Happened to my rider at Perris. We had just done Hangtown and were at Perris doing motos getting ready for Pala and some kid moved over and my dude had to go off the track to avoid him. A cracked wrist and knocking us out for six rounds was the
JA21 at mxon comes to mind. I felt like he was never the same after imho.
Imagine all the local circle tracks sending the sprint cars our for warm up laps while the kids in go-carts are also on the track.
He's referring to you being 10 beers deep.
Seems the problem lies more with the tracks than it does with the $10M / year riders. If GH knows every Thursday is pro practice day, why do they let minis/slow ams in? Why not just make it a requirement to have a pro card to be on the track?
It amazes me considering how litigious the USA is. Insane lawsuit waiting to happen.
I remember Luongo railing about this subject, after ( I think it was, but, perhaps it was another GP rider)) Herlings getting hurt practicing at a Belgian or Dutch track, while sharing the track with 'amateur' riders.
It happens everywhere, this mix of Hyper Fast riders, being out on the track with the average guy , and, even more frightening, kids.
The first time I got to Glen Helen (decades ago), after reading about it for years, I was stunned that such a 'storied' place, had riders of all ages / bike sizes, out there, with No Flaggers at all.
A place so often touted as being near on the greatest MX facility on Earth, was an absolute Zoo, with virtually no organization to it. When I got out on the track, I had eyes on the back of my head, and used my brain. Through being careful and courteous , I had only one 'moment', with a somewhat famous journalist, and that p**k came off second best.
This whole thing was never a problem till a few podcasters started whining about it. If they dont want to ride with amateurs, dont go to public tracks, its simple
Who is making 10 million a year?
Pit Row
The Coombs family, Luongo...
Even my local track here in Ohio doesn’t allow that. They split practices and have a/b riders, c riders, 85 and fast 65, 65 fast 50’s, and slower 50’s. Sucks to go as you sit around a lot, but at least helps keep more people safe.
Who is making 10 mill?
I’m not talking about Cam Newton 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Answer: $
You do know this is the riders choice, his team has a facility in FL that he can use but he has chosen not to….I’m hearing rumors that is changing in 27 and Prado will be in FL…This is more of a SoCal problem as the tracks allow it to happen where in other parts of the country it’s not so much a free for all as it is there.
So, who are you trying to blame? Those pros are choosing to practice at those tracks. They could be at a compound easily if they wanted to be.
Are you expecting an AMA rule that pros can't practice on public tracks?
I've never understood how the California tracks have open practice with insurance rates and everyone suing each other. On the east coast everything is split up. It takes one employee with a watch and a flag. Couldn't GH save some money on insurance if they could guarantee its always riders of similar skill and bike on the track together?
Golf….Golf is another sport where the top pros can be on a course with average joes…in fact just last week I was playing a round with friends and a top PGA player and his group came up behind us and and started hitting into us because we weren’t fast enough…kinda like Barcia coming up behind you on a Thursday at GH revving his bike at you going into a corner…Same same….
Yeah, you kinda conflated 2 totally different scenarios there. JA21 at Italy MXON was his own fault. He slow rolled after the finish while others behind him were still racing and coming over the line hot. Not relevant to this thread.
JA21 at GH after winning the 2018 SX championship and preparing for the Nationals is probably the incident you are thinking of. He was practicing on the track with the public and collided with an amateur rider and mangled his foot and missed most of the Outdoor series after that.
Isn’t there a pic from the late 90s of a top pro at the time practicing at GH, and there’s some goon on a Yamaha blaster in the same frame behind them?
Those “little turds” have far more business being on those tracks than the pros you seem to think everyone should stay out of the way for.
