Yeah.. that was not a confidence inspiring interview.. at all, lol
Dan Fahie should go where all our best and brightest go: Congress
You’re right on the money
1 - Dan grew up racing moto, and is a moto guy through and through. Yes, he worked in road racing, but moto is his first obsession.
2 - The team is now openly discussing how they are testing motor, chassis and suspension options that they would not have otherwise used in the past - does this not seem like they are willing to make tough choices and veer outside of what used to be considered corporate guard rails?
He's in a tough spot, and most folks expected Chase to deliver, and hopefully for all involved, he will. It appears as though that the team is doing whatever they can to move the development of the machine to be more competetive, when in the past, many folks have said Kawi was too rigid to make changes outdside of their pre-defined corporate limits. Now they are, and still taking heat?
Maybe Chase has a little accountability here as well. Who knows, maybe the way he communicates back to the tuners might be flawed. Maybe actionable steps to improve performance and the directions taken, as a result of Chase's direct feedback has them going in the wrong direction.
Who knows, but it sure is fun to watch.

2. Does that not sound like far too little way too late?
It’s sad really. I was expecting Chase to come out swinging after that first win on the Kawi, and now here we are.
I want to see the Chase that goes from last to first again.
What an interview...the impression I got was that he was 'honest' in the way that he has no clue, they have no clue... the solution after testing 200 different settings is to test a few more... the answers he gave sounded like your 'typical manager who has lost touch with the business'. Those were answers I could give in an interview...wouldn't require any knowledge at all...
Hello I'm a doctor, patient went through 20 surgeries... is still sick... we have no idea... we'll put the patient through a few more surgeries....
One minor observation…this team was lost way before Chase got there…It is literally the team managers job to get a bike together that their riders can perform to their best abilities on….Do I think that Dan is 100% at fault….No that fully lands on his boss, Bruce…
To add to your point, Chase said in the pre-race interviews that they have a new engine package, but he actually has an issue with the bike's ability to turn, and they didn't work on this aspect of the bike. So, the patient had 20 surgeries on their legs even though they went in reporting issues with their hands.
I don't think Chase knew how good he had it at KTM and Honda.
Yeah it was a disaster of an interview from a direction standpoint, as well as a PR standpoint.
The largest issue being zero leadership to steer the team in a good direction. Testing until the cows come home without direction leads to frustration and waisted efforts. Chase no doubt is a part of that equation with his feedback.
Something needs to change
Kawi was a dumpster fire before Chase got there and yeah, Fahie sounds lost.
But we can’t sit and pretend like Chase isn’t a problem. Idk if it’s Kier or his agent or someone else…but whoever led him to believe the bike was the answer needs to be fired. Chase had such a good thing going at KTM. Such a boneheaded move by him in what seems to be a trend of boneheaded decisions.
I like Chase, he’s an unreal rider and seems like a cool dude. But man, when someone tells you who they are you gotta listen.
The race Chase won, it seemed like he was typical Chase, blistering speed but the bike had no ability to change lines and be raceable.
Is Feld requiring the team managers (or whatever Fahies, Pipes, Harrison etc job title is called) to do interviews now or do these guys all wanna be more like Lars?
I mean...Fahie wasn't taking much heat until he opened his mouth. 90% of it was falling on Prado and Sexton . He probably wishes he could step back into the shadows.
Chase and his dad are both completely nuts.
They'll be the same whatever team they're on...
I'm hoping things get better for Chase and Kawi. The sport is better off when all the top riders are on their game and healthy.
So I'm not putting a lot of stock in the last 2 SX races since he has no shot at the title. But Chase was the 2nd best qualifier and looked good getting 2nd in his heat. His start in the main was awful though. Hopefully they get his bike dialed in for the Nationals.
I don’t think Chase Sexton is nuts, I think he is a good hard-working, talented kid who needs better guidance and management.
The more moto dads I see over the years makes me realize that Darren Lawrence is really special…
The wrist he injured after coming back from his last injury? Maybe it’s not just the 450 that has problems, no one on their 250 can stay off the ground either…
Pit Row
Always nice when we can have Dan’s mom come in and explain the situation
LOL spit out my coffee on that one. Good stuff, this place never disappoints.
Different OEM at outdoors. It’s done.
He lied to Wiemer to get him to re sign. He ran off Reed when he tried making changes to the bike. He ran off Millsaps when he found out Eli was interested. He ran off Gilly whrn he was doing things with the bike for Eli that he didn’t understand. He ran off the KYB guys when they wanted to make changes to help out Eli. He made Adam run a shit shock because that’s what they ordered from Japan. Now that his house of cards is about to fall, and everyone is putting him under a microscope, he’s suddenly willing to do what it takes to make a rider happy? And you want to excuse him?
Romain Febvre is a beast who will win on anything or die trying,
Everyone else on that bike has struggled massively, mostly because they could not get what they needed to get it to work for them.
JA looked good his Kawi, and had numerous podiums in 24. Never really heard him complain much. This isn't all on the team. Chase is a part of the problem, it's been his mo. But I do think they'll figure it out. Chase is too good not to.
Right. That totally negates all the other stories you’re right.
Let’s not put all the blame on Dan…there is another culprit…
Not really what I was saying, but ok.
My point was the bike is capable of being up front. Even Chase has shown that this year at times. And JA rode pretty damn good on it.
Previous generation bike. Did not have anywhere near the same success on the current gen.
This would be crazy.
Yeah, Chase just needs a new OEM. That'll fix everything.
Yup, nothing custom about those Honda's (extra pieces welded to the frames...) or the KTMs (KYB suspension...). No one knows what they're doing and only Yamaha can save Chase now!
