lol lil Lew has been a bit too big for his boots lately. Ive stopped listening to LvK and the Vital pods because of Lew. Hopefully some self reflection is on the cards for the aussie Journo. Mid season slump perhaps?
Big Lew rage baited Tomac and won 😳
He is the most arrogant and condescending person in our sport that laughably calls himself a journalist. Take a look at his Twitter feed it is filled with Tweet after Tweet making fun and being condescending towards one of the biggest legends of our sport. Imagine someone with the life achievements of Lewis Phillips constantly degrading and making fun publicly someone of Eli Tomac’s achievements 🤦♂️🤦♂️ And he even does it in Tomac’s country of birth meanwhile he is from GB! Ole Lew needs to pull his head in.
The first time I ever heard this “journalist” was a Herlings interview a few years ago that was so cringy and I was instantly convinced he’s a tool. Every time he’s on pulp I’m half tempted to just turn it off. Maybe he’s a great guy away from all of it but he certainly comes off like a pompous douche lately.
Not a good look for Eli’s confidence right now
I’m assuming Lewis didn’t just invent that take out of nowhere and it came from his talk with Carlos
Oh to have been a fly on the wall in the bus during that debriefing…
To be fair on Lewis Eli is a weirdo.
Lewis has a couple of options. 1. Spill the beans on who told him that Eli barely spoke to KTM. 2. Take this on the chin to try to salvage an amicable relationship with Eli. I say spill the beans. Who told you that Eli barely spoke to KTM, Lewis?
The full conversation may give that away.
Phillips comes across as a wanker sometimes. Reminds me some of the brit sterotype looking down his nose at us uncivilized Americans.
One reason I like Weege so much… fair, friendly, enthusiastic about the sport, courteous, still brings/ presents us with good info. Without a doubt the best moto has as far as guys that are not past champs in the booth or reporting.
After a few Vitards, another guy tired of the "best moto journalist in the world". Maybe it's starting a trend.
Pit Row
Weege told moto fans they were too stupid to figure out the MavTV app lol. They all have their moments.
Big Lew, you’re already a legend.
This makes me feel a little better after his rebuttal to my comment on the Roczen article.
If your Eli you can’t do bare minimum interviews, say absolutely NOTHING about horrible performances and freak out when people try to figure it out. Dudes way too much of a vet to not know it’s his fault rumors and discussions happen
Weege has a hard time not discussing his contempt for race fans, it slips out all the time, that he thought they were too dumb to figure out TV is just one example. I don't think Lewis shares the same contempt, but he is guilty of voicing assumptions quickly. I think one of the problems with the sport's "journalism" is it hasn't evolved with its audience. The average age of people involved in the sport has risen dramatically as has their financial wellbeing in the past few decades, many of us are very well educated and affluent, the audience is full of business owners, doctors, and professionals. Very accomplished people, more so than many of these reporters. That the "reporters" talk down, condescend, and insult the audience is a bad move and shows not knowing the audience well.
One of this sport’s most venerated stars just called one of this sport’s most prolific writers a “hack.” How often has this happened?
Exactly, be open about what’s been going on the last month or expect people to speculate on what’s going on and experience some “hack” reporting
Should’ve called him fake news, would’ve resonated better with more of the fans
Man, a ton of people here just don't get dry satirical humor and don't know how to take European bluntness.
Bingo. Im an Eli fan but you can’t play this “im not doing interviews and when I do I won’t say any details” routine and not expect the media to attempt at reading between the lines of what isn’t said. Lewis’ interview with Ian after the race was so professional. He respected Ian’s place by asking tough questions but not forcing him into a corner and I appreciated Ian’s honesty. Even though he felt comfortable on it and he was lightning fast in practice and the heat, Eli made a mistake picking the scoop tire for the main, plain and simple. In the words of Ian; “If Eli wants to run square wheels and feels he can win on them, we’re giving him square wheels.”
i'm genuinely confused. I thought Lewis' interview with Ian was damn solid. and Ian explained that they chatted pre/post race and all is good, despite a crummy day. I don't get why Eli is all bent. It reeks of defensiveness.
I like Big Lew but, yeah, he comes off like a tool sometimes. It always gets chalked up to, oh you just dont understand British sense of humor.
