Tomac hurt?

3/29/2026 9:28am

His body positioning on the bike has changed the last couple of weeks and its clear he isn't driving through rhythms and corner. He is purposefully try to flow as smoothly as possible. Just like you would if you were nursing an an injury where pushing through the face of a jump/landing causes pain/has the potential to worsen the injury. This isn't a setup issue, especially after seeing him let JCoop just cruise by. Wouldn't be surprised if he aggravated his achilles.

Actually i just rewatched it myself. Its his right wrist he's looking at. He was fastest qualifier and looked awesome before that. Then was way off the rest of the night and all of this weekend.

Kind of seems like a lack of intensity. Possibly from overreaching/training? Remember, Eli didn’t have much of an off season. Maybe he peaked earlier this season and it’s starting to catch up? The older you get, the more rest you need. Idk man.

You guys need to get on OwenJakes program. No reason you can’t peak athletically in your mid-30s if you’re on the right “stuff”

I’m gear free.

So weird that you guys think the greatest athletes in the world are on the same program you all are on.

I eatched it as well. Not too gnarly but def can see him looking down at his right side, hand butbthen they interview him and hes smiling using his hand to hold the drink and takes a drink etc and it doesnt look like anything is wrong.

Its really weird because he was 6 tenths faster than everyone including Kenny and then gets yarded in the night show. Something happened it would seem.

That steel frame is showing signs of fatigue. All that flex is robbing the beast from his mode.

Kinda obvious that something is wrong, so obvious that it's ridiculous to hide it. Fucking sucks, lets hope it's not something that will bother him for weeks or months.

It definitely could be nothing, but thats the moment that stands out to me when stuff really changed and he does mention he wishes he could have that lap back whether he meant it was just a really good lap, or just referencing that mistake knowing something was hurting some. I dont think he aggravated his leg break area or Achilles because im pretty sure those were both left side.

WTH is going on with Eli? You don't go from being the fastest guy the first 8-9 rounds, winning 4 races and then just drop off the pace this far without something being wrong. This is where our sport sucks. You will never hear the why. No way he just lost his speed and desire lol. This is going to suck if Hunter just runs away with this championship. Sure would be great to know what the F he is struggling with.

He may be starting to show his age. Then RC made a good point that Eli has done this before earlier in his career . He started his 450 career in 2013 , didn’t win a championship till 2020 has almost 60 wins yet just 2 championships. He’s let some SX championships slip through his fingers.

I just talked to my cousin who is good friends with someone close to Tomac (not to name drop) and said that he’s nursing an undisclosed knee injury from a practice crash. I think he’ll be alright.

Even in his championship seasons he's had the slump.it's an annual thing.

I watched him close at the end of the race.  Once Webb started showing him a wheel after catching him from way back in the pack something changed.  Tomac really turned it up on the last 2 laps and was the fastest guy on the track.  Should not have got passed by Justin Cooper earlier but almost caught him back at the end.  Expect him to be disgusted with this result and motivated.

It's a weird trait we see from Tomac every now and then. He backs it off too far when he's not feeling it. It definitely wasnt an impressive 4th finish. You could say Webb had the better ride finishing 5th.

IMO this is not a slump. He was not right. Just last week, he was #1 in qualifying by a good margin and all smiles. He was fast and aggressive in the heat race until he tangled with JCoop. Something changed by the Main as he just rode around. No aggression at all.

And this last race was even more so...he just rode around and then actually pulled over and looked while JCoop passed him. Something is wrong. Either sick or hurt. But he was able to wick it up to hold off Webb. Hmmm...one thing we do know is he probably will never tell us.

Somebody slip some stem cells into his Wheaties.

The Tomac camp has always been and will always be reserved. It’s possible he has a nagging injury, but IMO the bike has been off for a month now. Even when he was winning and standing on the box. That’s a bold statement to make, but I don’t think he’s as comfortable as he wants to be.

Hey I've never thought about that. Are athletes prohibited at all from getting those treatments?

lol all this talk and watch Eli come out and blow the doors off everyone next weekend putting to bed any fears of him being injured, age taking over, over-training, etc. Eli is weird...he can suddenly look like shit for a couple weekends then come out and gap everyone like RC outdoors circa 2002.

I hope thats the case! Really rooting for him after he was robbed in Denver. Nothing against Hunta but he has lots of years to use his Ryan Dungey style of champuonship racing against even the like of his bro and Deegs.... be aewsome yo see Eli or even Kenny get this one!

Hunter needs to take advantage of the time he has now before little bro comes back. Not taking anything away from Hunter, I genuinely think he's getting better and better, but Jett is still the better/faster rider.

I for one like the fact he is not blaming being hurt or the bike.

He never does. Even his  arm pump issues took many years to come out.

Did Tomac actually comment after the race? I have not seen it. Of course, Eli being an old school racer...why would he tell anyone if he was hurt? Just works against you.

That is pretty cool.  He just owns it.  Could be bike issues, but I suspect some nagging injury from a practice crash or something like that.  I hope it's something he recovers from quickly.  I'm a massive Tomac fan, but even with him at his best KR and Hunter are real threats for this title.  I hope we get to see all 3 at their best.  Doesn't happen often due all the injuries and stuff.

Side note: KR and ET are such opposites.  ET doesn't tell you much where as KR tells you everything and they both get criticized for it.  They can't win with the peanut gallery.
