Sadly Marc Rossi steps away from Racing.
Its a shame, kid has a ton of talent.
Yeah, real shame. Huge talent, one of the best since a very long time. Great kid, great family also. I'm guessing he'll do a very good enduro rider. Enduro was his passion when he was a kid, and it seems like he might go that way.

Maybe i am being stupid, but what makes you think he will be good to go for Enduro?
Dang, he was one of the top young guys what, 2 or 3 years ago? Crazy
Shame for Rossi he had some great rides in emx. What i get is that his injuries are still giving him problems and he is taking a break to heal completely.
Going by the list below they are no longer a registered team? Shame, I have always enjoyed their presence in the pits
It's his passion since he was a kid, he is a multi time French EnduroKid champion.
My point was more along the lines of ' if he is having to quit MX because of injuries ,what kind of injuries stop you racing MX but still let you be a top level enduro guy'.
Top level enduro , especially in France , has a lot of good Ex-MX guys , and if he can get a career in that , fair play.
I have been reading this with interest. Particularly the parts of the aging out, lack of rides, and lack of funds. Related to this is attendance and viewership. Do fans still come to these races and do viewers watch in numbers sufficiently?
Crowd attendance is huge in the popular countries. GP of Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Czech Republic, Sweden are really crowded. I probably forgot a few. But there are also a few fly away's with 1000 people max. It's not a lack of funds for the factory teams, it's the lack of funds for smaller teams. They basically ruined the semi-factory and privateer teams to do a full GP calendar
...attend any MXGP in France, the Netherlands, or Belgium.
You'll not be able to move anywhere around the track there are so many fans. It's like Red Bud and more.
MXGP in France is the craziest group of people I have ever seen at a moto event.
I followed the GPs fully in the 70s, I remember races in the eastern bloc nations would get 100,000+ spectators at that time.
Netherlands and Belgium isnt Red Bud numbers. Arnhem looks crowded because the track area is so small. In newspapers the spectator numbers were reported to be 6.500 in 2023 and 7.500 in 2024. Few years ago Lommel got a new permit for hosting mxgp up to 15.000 people.
French MX fans really do the job.
Yeah, imagine being there on the starting line seeing this massive crowd. What an insane experience that must be
Pit Row
Anyone knows why Jan Pancar is not picked up with any team?
Is he hard to work with?
I'm wondering as he has really decent results and with mechanical engineering degree might be valueable for bike testing and development.
I think it's a money / sponsor thing.
He isn't good enough to be picked up by the 'paid' teams (KTM/Husqvarna/Honda/Yamaha/Kawasaki/Ducati)
I guess he doesn't have the backup from bigger sponsors to 'buy' him a seat for the smaller teams like Fantic/Beta/Honda Motoblouz/Van Venrooy/SS24.
They probably sponsor enough for him to operate from his own camper and to get break-even or a small loss.
I think he is seeking for a factory contract only. I believe he got an offer or two from smaller teams but obviously chose his own, proven program.
Each year we see new, promising riders move from MX2 to MXGP because of the age rule, and they typically get opportunities with factory teams. It’s quite rare for someone to secure a factory seat in MXGP without having previously had that kind of opportunity in MX2 or even in the smaller classes. Unfortunately, because he would definitely deserve a shot.
Jan is a supernice guy, and they are living the dream with his dad by his side. They trust each other and they wouod only sign for a factory team cause that is the way. They have their own sponsor who are taking care of the registration fees. This guy is super friendly and 9bviously smart. He can figure out that there is no point of giving money to a smaller team just to be taken advantage of him as he is so easygoing and friendly and a good hearted person.
They know what a headache it is to work with a smaller or just a factory satellite team and know that the team he has around him right now works best. He was the best privateer last season and will be going for another "privateer title" this year. Why break up something that has been working so good for years? (He has been doing it since 2018). Why break a system that works just to aay you are in a team? No point. Jan go thru the flames and factories, him and Gifting are the guys to cheer for this year.
That is good and all, but I would think at his level he would want to make some money? Is he risking his life to basically break even right now? Seems crazy. He deserves better than that based on his performance the last few years.
Based on that I'll tell you this - Febre, Gaijser, Herlings make money, rest of them ride for pennies in heaven. The factory ride doesn't bring that huge paycheck. Langenfelder made money last year - not much but some money. I would think Fernandez, Vialle, Coenens, De Wolf, Renaux, Vlaanderen and the B-tier riders do not make huge amounts of money. The MXGP politics is so fucked up that a bronze medalist can not get a decent ride - decent money we are not talking about. Hoff has been in the circus for almost 20 years - and he started as a RedBull factory guy and has been basically under every team manager there is right now - hasn't made millions - but still can not get a ride.
There are plenty of guys like Hoff, Pancar and others - who can ride a dirtbike and could get better riders for just circulating in the series, but they have made it so prestigious that regular joe's do not want to waste any money for it. There is lot's and lot's of guys who could ride 15th to 35th every race, but they are better of riding Le Touquet and other races to earn a living
Pancar is doing allright. Yes it is a small setup with his father. But Pancar has sponsors who bring in a lot of money. And he has good support from KTM (don't know if anyone noticed but at MXoN Pancar was riding special materials).
He can continue with this setup for years, no reason to all leave that for a 1 year deal with a semi-factory team where he probably doesnt make more anyway and he would be 1 injury away to again setup his own team (after just chasing away his sponsors by ending his team).
100%
Both are The People's Champs!
Thanks for reply.
It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest that Jan is testing future KTM machinery in MXGP, so his deal might not be as bad as it looks from the outside.
Since Jan isn't in any ways in a contract with Bajaj auto, I can tell you that the Ss24 gabriels team, VanVenrooy are the teams doing the testing and have a contract with Bajaj - Their riders should be the testriders - i know they have Zanocs and some other juniors on board, they propably test the 2029 engines and maybe the 2028 suspension, might not be so sure as when Bajaj took over the R&D also got hit moneywise.
In 2019 #109 R.Edelbacher run a Husqvarna MX2 bije that had the 2023 engine package and 21 suspension
What happend with Edelbacher? Kid could ride and had some speed on hard packs. Remember him coming out off no where running top 10 speed at Loket in one off those seasons before covid 2018/19
I think that sort of KTM development role is more likely to fall in Mattia's lap...
