It...

The track was cool, bit dry in the first laps. Lots of stones and hard edges, spectators were enthusiastic as usual! Overall a cool event, bit weird the red flag came only 3 laps in, and we had to redo the whole moto.. and yes Jeffrey was relaxed and fast! I made a little vlog from the weekend, here the Friday part.

My first year signing up for the package. I'm glad I did. That was some good racing. Track was fast but still fun looking. That step up triple and that big downhill launch were epic. Herlings was a little of a surprise based off the two preseason races he had but Vialle was way better than I expected. Adamo was fast but fell off the pace both motos. Simon should clean house in the MX2. Sascha did Sascha things but was the fastest. Hope he isn't hurt too bad. Everts looked good but will need a little more speed. I...

I think he is seeking for a factory contract only. I believe he got an offer or two from smaller teams but obviously chose his own, proven program. Each year we see new, promising riders move from MX2 to MXGP because of the age rule, and they typically get opportunities with factory teams. It’s quite rare for someone to secure a factory seat in MXGP without having previously had that kind of opportunity in MX2 or even in the smaller classes. Unfortunately, because he would definitely deserve a shot.

I think it's a money / sponsor thing. He isn't good enough to be picked up by the 'paid' teams (KTM/Husqvarna/Honda/Yamaha/Kawasaki/Ducati) I guess he doesn't have the backup from bigger sponsors to 'buy' him a seat for the smaller teams like Fantic/Beta/Honda Motoblouz/Van Venrooy/SS24. They probably sponsor enough for him to operate from his own camper and to get break-even...
it took 45 mins to get a beer so that says enough.

Don't forget about Farrés... He's more talented as McLellan. But to be fair, the titlefight will be between Längenfelder, Coenen and Everts. Valin, Farrés, McLellan and Jānis Reišulis are the underdogs.

True that! I thought the same seeing him race in Lierop, but he stated it himself on IG that it was a struggle racing a track like Lierop. I think he can and will compensate that on the hardpack tracks, but I don't see him challenge Sacha, Simon, Liam (and perhaps Camden) for the title.

It works just like an employment contract (basically it is). If you leave, you have a month of notice period and that period started Dec 1st if the contract expires Jan 1st.

He's training in Spain with John vd Berk on his KTM for now, so his Honda presentation will happen in the new year and not earlier.

Not much different for the American guys either. Tomac was announced in November and racing in January. Definitely worse for Herlings and Gajser though, announced in January and round 1 is Feb. 22nd. You would think contracts would be written to end closer to the final round, or after Nations.

Yeah that’s exactly why I asked the question. Herlings is riding at Hawkstone on the 15th February, that’s 6 weeks with a new bike & team.
