Riders like Gifting and Zanchi are missing on the entry list. If they have an injury I've must of missed the press release. De Wolf is still on it, but it's highly uncertain if he will line up.

It's pretty crazy how stacked the MXGP-class is. Febvre, Coenen, Gajser, Herlings, Vialle, Renaux, Jonass, De Wolf, Fernández, Vlaanderen, Seewer, Bonacorsi, Adamo, Horgmo, Bénistant, Van Doninck, Forato, Guadagnini, Pancar, Geerts, Elzinga, Gifting, Oliver, Brumann,... That's 24 regulars when everyone is fit. Second half of those riders could finish from sixth to sixteenth in any order. Imagine being a wildcard rider from Spain, Italy or France trying to score some points... Seems almost impossible.

The old venue was a bucket list track I'd always wanted to ride.

Sold for housing or development I think?

That's gotta be the most stacked 450 field since at least MXGP 2015.

By the way, is there any update on De Wolf, I guess he'll miss the first round for sure, right?

Last year it was at a new venue aswell, in Córdoba (which was more in central Argentina). This track is way closer to the original one, which was located at Villa La Angostura. That terrain isn't available anymore.

Yeah place is getting dismantled and used for Hotels or something like that. Super sad, I think that one and Matterlyn were the favorite tracks among riders.

Interesting fact, Bariloche is an area where a lot Nazis escaped to after the fall of the third reich. From what I’ve read, a lot of people speak German there & the buildings all have a German look about them.

I’m excited to see whether Simon can defend his title or if the others have stepped up especially Sacha. He’s definitely fast enough, but in the past he was on the ground far too often. If he’s improved his consistency I’m sure we’re in for a great championship battle.

Besides Sacha and Simon, do you think anyone else in the 250 class has a real shot at the title? Everts? McLellan?

It'll be between Simon, Liam, and Mathis this year...

I like Sacha this year.  He is such a good starter and has such good pace.  I think this is the year he cleans up the mistakes just enough, but still keeps the speed edge over the rest of the guys, like Lucas last year.  Might be the Coenen's last year in Europe from the sounds of it?

Gifting dislocated his shoulder a few weeks ago, it was decided shortly after that he’d miss the first GP. Hopefully back for the next one.

McLellan fighting for the title would be a huge surprise...

Attempted to follow mxgp closer last year but the streaming service was so bad at the beginning of the year that I was too far out of the loop by the time they got it fixed to bother. Hopefully it works out this year, always enjoy the races when I am able to watch.

Anyone not named Simon or Sacha would be imo. McLellan finished 5th in last years championship. If you exclude kay and adamo who both moved up, he was the next guy after simon and sacha. He showed some great flashes in certain races and was sometimes the fastest rider on track. Maybe hes taken another step forward this year which he’ll definitely need to do to have a shot. Who knows.

There are a lot of really great riders in MXGP this year. interesting to see Enzo Lopes listed, Hope he can get some top 10 finishes. It's going to be tough to podium with this group.

If Valin wants to challenge for a title he needs to do better in sand then he did at Lierop last weekend. Had a decent start in moto 2 in 7th and couldnt get past Heitink, Doensen and Fredsoe and finished in 5th. in Moto 1 he was in 3rd behind Smulders for 5+ laps and couldnt pass him and then crashed.

Obviously just 1 race but not a good look compared to Everts

True that! I thought the same seeing him race in Lierop, but he stated it himself on IG that it was a struggle racing a track like Lierop.

I think he can and will compensate that on the hardpack tracks, but I don't see him challenge Sacha, Simon, Liam (and perhaps Camden) for the title.

Don't forget about Farrés... He's more talented as McLellan.

But to be fair, the titlefight will be between Längenfelder, Coenen and Everts. Valin, Farrés, McLellan and Jānis Reišulis are the underdogs.

I´d still like to believe that Lata can put that red CRF250 on that top step eventually #hopium.

I'm interested to see how Tom Vialle does. Tough to say, he's a bit of an unknown quantity coming into this with a new bike and in a new class.

It will be very interesting indeed. Considering how good he was already in the pre-season races I wouldnt be surprised to see him as a podium threat right from the first race.
