Those are some wise words for sure. Modern riders that don't work on their bikes should definitely learn more about bike setup. My dad used to do that to me without telling me like letting most of the air out of my tire or changing the sag to see if I would notice what he changed. I used to get so annoyed by it but it taught me a lot.
Greenie...you and I both know this is the first building block in learning to go fast. As soon as you start looking any where else...it's over. This only applies if you're trying to go wfo.
Grandpa said on his deathbed, "I spent all my money on whores and booz." The rest I wasted.....
I embraced this and ate shit over the bars harder than I ever had before. That's what you get when you match sound practice with a complete absence of talent.

Dad's life tips. Never time to do it right, always time to do it over.
Treat people the way you want to be treated. He said it differently, "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you"
Doesn't matter what you do, but whatever it is be the best at it.
“NEVER get into a fist fight with a man that’s uglier than you, he’s got nothing to lose….”
Don't ride over your head. No one knows who you are and no one is watching you, ride your own ride.
My best friends wife’s dad always say “bang em at their house so they don’t know where you live”.
At an AHRMA national Jeff Smith said that $5 award isn't going to pay your hospital bills. Race for fun and don't take it too serious.
"If you're going to do something at all, do it the best you can."
Live every moment as if it is your last.
While I was an average mid pack 125 C rider for 3 years a local B rider taught me how to speed shift and we rode together the rest of the week. Next race I was a top 5 racer and quickly moved up to B class.
Couple years later already move up to the A class taking a Gary Bailey class he taught clutch slipping coming out of turns.
No matter how hot she is, someone somewhere is sick of her shit

6/3/2025 Doctor, “Mr York maybe it’s time you give up riding your motorcycles, you have to realize your 57 now and I don’t know if I will have enough bone left to fix it again. Now let’s talk about your left knee”. Now ask me if I took his advise. Photos: top 7 months ago and bottom 3 days ago for context.

My doctor/ortho surgeon told me this more than once...I finally listened. "You like walking?...stop riding."
"Slower is faster"

You aren't going to win the race on the first turn, lap, etc., but you can sure lose it.
Another rule to live by, perhaps more for off road, don't look at what you don't want to hit - the bike will follow your eyes to it like a magnet.
Don't eat yellow snow.
the bitch is in the details
1st picture looks like somebody left a chain Master link in there. 😬
"There is no magic, there is only grind. Work looks like magic to those unwilling to do it."
two phrases that have been most relevant (to me) as of late are:
For Management: "Do for them what you wish was done for you."
For Racing: "... we're not here to fuck spiders."
If it flys, fucks, or floats….rent it.
