Motonews was also going to start charging for accounts, hence the mass exodus here in 2006.
Fresh top end's post in this thread are on point.
The motoboards started late 1990's. Motonews and Mikeep fresh dirt were the first boards I came across. Guy B posted on them. whatever drama went on with fresh dirt I don't care to dig up. GuyB started a message board called Motodrive, and everybody migrated over to his board. Many uses posted on both motodrive and motonews. TFS had the great idea to charge money to post on motonews and quite a few deleted their motonews accounts and just posted on Motocrive, Ironically, TFS loved to post on Guy B's board and we had a fun little fued; we called motonews "Bushwood" from caddy shac and TFS called us "Slackers" Guy B got a job with Vital and rolled motodrive into the new website. Not sure how the new guy took over
I have been here since the beginning. I used to post all the time on Mototalk and Motodrive but I mostly scroll now. Before that I was on the motocross madness sites.

Those that have been around for about 20 years will remember Alizee
Alphado will be around any moment.
It was already charging by 2000 when I joined, had been for a least a year then, and thriving - probably because it was a place you could as a fan interact with some riders and people leading the racing side of things. Really a product of the times. It thrived because of Bruhn, whether you liked him or not, and the content he brought, and died when he left.
Steve was a pretty good moderator on balance, but It was not in Steve's nature to take crap, which he did both from posters and from insiders who didn't like what some posters wrote on MT (or any board). Eventually he had his fill and stepped out, went to NASA, and trolled just about anyone in power stateside. Davey was the figurehead for that, but the people running SX really were hard on him and pissed when he went to Supercross.com because they resented that Lex had that domain. Not a great time for people who had friends on both sides of that. Regardless of how it ended he brought a lot to the sport and should be recognized for that, and missed.
HAHAHA.....Boobies
Where has all the time gone???
Aim and dial up internet. Hoping you’re parents aren’t waiting for a call so you don’t get your ass beat for tying up the line.
And don’t forget the free AOL trail disc.
@ML512
Anyway to make this possible? Or remove the infinite scroll?
There are so many lost discussions due to not being able to go back in time easily. Would love to be able to go back and read past topics.
Let us time travel! 🙏
Landed here in 2010 when I was looking for MXoN information about the Colorado race
Seen some awesome content early on, then it kinda took a dump with GuyB suspending anyone that didn't think like him.
Still has its issues but what forum doesn't
Miss OCScottie for sure, The SX discussion was rockin when he hosted them
My boys started racing in 2004 and as was always on the internet searching for stuff getting fully immersed in moto to help my boys racing efforts. Most of my time was on Georgia moto forums as that's were we were racing Dirtman1 (Kevin kelly) series.
I kept hearing people mention the pros and smart industry people on motodrive/mototalk so I found it in mid 2004 and been here ever since. Can't say there has been a single day that I haven't hopped on since.
When I'm bored, when I want news, when I stand in check out lines, when I take a shit, you name it, it's my default site. Lol
FREE RINGER!!!
Net Zero
This is what I'm remembering. It seemed like we had our motodrive start dates initially. So many of us lost some O.G. cred. 🤣
Pit Row
Compuserve was my starting point in the early 90's. Dialing in at 2400 baud & talking to MX fans on a BB.
I thought we reached peak fandom when Virtual Grandstand happened. Couldn't believe we could read what was happening at a Supercross in real time (refresh!refresh!). We still had to wait until Thursday at 1am to see it on ESPN2.
I still have my original AOL email as a burner...
I wonder what's more successful, financially and viewership wise, Vital MX or MTB?
MX is bigger.
That's interesting, and good to know. You'd think the MTB / Cycling scene would dwarf MX when it comes to online forums, etc.
I think I joined in the early 2000's on Mototalk when it wasn't uncommon for BobbyM to refer to people as "sperm-bearded cum guzzlers". Good times.
Paying member of Bushwood here. Was worth the price of admission after winning a set of Showa A-kit suspension from the Boo Koo team. Also won the Indy SX gas card from Racer-x which provided seats in the press box and a track walk...Thanks Davey for setting up that program...would be awesome to have another fan program like that again.
Here's an old page asking who was a member at moto talk back in the day. Davey and even TFS show up in this old thread from 2011.
mototalk remembered thread
I think you’ll find it was a “Cum-guzzling sperm beard”.
Correct, sir!
I wasn’t aware of the relationship to transworld or ride bmx. I had subscribed to transworld mx and ride bmx for many years in my younger days. Had any vhs that would come out as well. As a young kid in the middle of Wyoming that loved moto and bmx these were my only links to it. Just came full circle! Thanks for the info ML
And a "mouthbreather" insult somewhere in there...
The OG BobbyM just confirmed to me by email that the correct phrase was, “sperm-bearded cum chuggler”.
It’s think I can remember was TFS started taking off when he started posting live from all the SX races sitting up in the stands.
Kind of like is done here on Canada races.
