I’ve been a member for about a year I believe, but have been a long time lurker! I figured now was as good of time as any to make a first post.. so as the title says I spoke with my wallet! Picked up a left over 300sx and couldn’t be more excited to get some hours on it. I’ve been a diehard 2 stroke guy my entire life and I’m hoping this thing turns out to be all that I’m hoping for. I have had multiple 450’s and have just never been able to ride them well mostly because of a lack of skill 😂. I got so burnt out of being tired almost immediately that I actually quit riding for a while. Back in 2019 I bought a new yz250 and I loved that bike but the vibration was a killer for me so in 2023 I purchased a new yz250f hoping that it would fit the bill and it did in most ways. Definitely not too much power and overall was such a fun bike, but I came to the conclusion that I just don’t like 4 strokes. If you’ve read this far I’m sure you want me to “stfu noob” so I’ll get on with it.. here’s your pictures. I’m with you. I’ve tried all the 4 strokes. I can like them for a while. Hell, I’m a little better on them maybe. But I just have more fun on a 2 stroke. Congratulations on the new bike!

The best thing about speaking to your wallet is when it doesn’t talk back and tell you to sell the other bike first.

I hear that fully! My lap times would absolutely show that I can ride a 4 stroke faster most anywhere, especially as it gets later in the day and I’m tired. But I can also say for me that’s completely irrelevant because I’m just slow regardless.. so the smiles on the smokers are definitely worth it.

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t ride nearly enough! At this point in my life I’m sad to admit I almost enjoy tinkering/maintaining bikes as much as I enjoy riding them lol. I try my best to keep em’ looking good.. but I also have to admit that 250f only has 17 hours on it 😂 and maybe 15 minutes of putting around the house after a full makeover/plastics, etc. Thanks man, I appreciate it!

Will do! I try my best to keep up on maintenance on any bikes I’ve had. Sometimes it’s inevitable as we all know, but I hate broken shit.. especially if it’s because of something as busting out the spoke wrench. I’ve heard over the years that’s a more common “issue” on ktm’s, especially near the rim locks. Thanks for the advice man, I hope I love these things like you do!

By checking them frequently he means before your first ride, during your first ride check them every time you come off the track, and a bunch more during the next 5 rides. I learned this the hard way about 3 times.

Enjoy!  She’s beautiful, and the deep note of the 300 is just music to the ears.

Welcome to the two stroke side! I have always been a two stroke guy. I have test ridden many four strokes and tried to love them but I think they are not my cup of tea.

Much appreciated! I’m not new to them by any means.. I’ve been an avid 2 stroke guy for a majority of my time riding. I dabbled with some 450’s but always came back to a yz250 which has been my all time favorite bike. I only switched to the yz250f when I couldn’t deal with the vibration of the 2 stroke any longer. I have type 1 diabetes which can cause poor blood circulation, especially to the hands and feet. I tried every damn handlebar, grip, lever position, suspension valving, etc etc and it just got to the point that I gave up and switched because I realized I wasn’t going to get away from that issue. I could hack it for a 10-15 moto session but out play riding it just wasn’t working. I’ve missed that thing ever since and I’m really hopeful that this counterbalanced engine will allow me to enjoy 2 strokes once again!

Get the PHDS bar mounts and fill your bars with silicone. That should help with the vibrations. I have PHDS bar mounts on both of my KTMs, though they were made before the counterbalanced engine era

This is the real OG version of spoke with my wallet, buying a brand new 2-stroke and supporting the companies that still make them and develop them.

Good job!

Congrats! these 300 TBIs are really just amazing machines.

I've messed with gearing just a little to put 3rd gear exactly where I want it, and lower pegs and a higher seat for my tall ass and other than that its been air filters, tires and gas for 60 hours.

Congrats on the new ride—stunning bike! These new gen 300 TBI motors are straight-up amazing. My 2025 TX-300 with the TBI motor and new spring fork is hands-down the sweetest KTM/Husky 2-stroke I've ever had.

The new spring forks are awesome, mine is a 23 so I ended up with Raven cartridges in mine but my wife just got a 24 250 and ive ridden it and those forks are perfect out of the box in my opinion for 95% of people.

While I really like my 350 SXF, I will seriously be considering a 300 SX when it comes time to replace my 350. Top of my list for now.

The 300SX is so versatile…I ride mostly MX with some hare scrambles when I get the itch. An XC tank, FmF Gnarly pipe, bark busters, mellow map selection and you basically have an XC version, I actually like the SX transmission gear ratios better than the XC300”s I have had….just did a 2 hr FTR race few weeks ago, bike was flawless…Monday… swap it back to MX setup in little over an hr….I will note…they left alot on the table with stock mapping…..I have a remap from WMR out of Florida….absolute rocket with much longer top end pull vs stock, all on 93 pump gas. I”m sure Twisted Development can do similar….

Have you ridden the 300?  Curious why you would switch, I'm in the same boat.

I have not. Of course I would like to try one.

The ‘why’ would be I have always felt more comfortable on a 2T. Though the 350 is quite good, a 2T typically feels much lighter, less engine inertia, etc. Add in the simplicity of the button and FI and I see no downside.

The stock gearing seems to be a little goofy.. kinda high. I suppose it’s all relative to transmission ratios, but the 47 rear did catch me off guard. I’m excited to ride it and see what it’s all about.  What gearing have you settled on? The ergos seem good to me, but I’ve only sat on it while on the stand lol!  The bar bend seems low to what I’m used to.. but does feel fitting and comfortable. I’m a large midget at only 5”8 so the seat height feels tall to me, but all of my recent Yamahas have been lowered 1” which has been very comfortable for me, without being too low and worrying about catching the pegs in ruts.
