What did you guys make of the discussion with the old factory pipe they’re going to offer? How do you buy it I don’t see it listed?

What is the talk?

What is the talk?

New RV-Spec pipe coming for the '05+ YZ250, similar to the RV-Spec pipe they released like 3 or so years ago for the '05-'21 YZ125 (which didn't replace the normal pipe, aka "rack pipe" that PC sells but rather was sold alongside it).

They have been holding this pipe back from the public for years. Allegedly, it’s the biggest performance gain you can get via an exhaust ever.

I haven't listened to pulp in nearly a year, so I'll need to check it out.

I've tried all of the American company pipes and the regular PC is the worst (FOR ME). All top end, loses a ton of bottom. It's hard to ride unless you like riding your 250 like a 125. I'm not that good.

FMF may as well be stock (which is good!). Maybe has a hint more bottom to mid.

Bill's is hands down the best. I could simply say "better everywhere", but it's probably just same bottom as stock, more mid, more top.

Hopefully this new PC (supposed old factory copy?) is an improvement.

Anyone think a specific brand would be best upgrade to a YZ250X pipe? Mostly ridden in the woods.

Same here. I preferred the stock pipe on my RM250 over the PC. There was a noticeable loss of bottom end power, smoother mid range transition, and crazy top end pull with the PC pipe. Certainly geared for a more experienced rider who can keep the bike screaming.

Does anyone have a time stamp on the pulp podcast?

Why would a company not have offered their best product available, dosent make sense. It's not as if they have their own YZ250 race team.

2:06:00 is the stamp on you tube when they bring it out and start talking it up, I would like to give it a try against the "rack pipe" just to see if it makes a real difference for slow old guys.

Interesting insight from Mitch about the pipe. Always cool to know what they were doing on those old factory bikes. I’d assume they would update the number on the pipe over the old one they were selling.

I had no idea the RV2 pipe became the rack pipe on the 22+ YZ125 until ML512 mentioned it in their YZ125 mod build.

RV said "7 HP"? That is a lot. Whoa. So who is going to test it first? And that is super weird that it hasn't been offered before.

I’m bitterly disappointed with my RM250 PC pipe.
All high rev power.

I borrowed a DEP- it was better.

Lets see regular PC pipe $ 300. Works RV pipe $ 550.

Pretty sure the 7hp was on his pc built personal bike, with engine work and jetted for MRX02... There's no way a pipe alone is giving you 7hp unless the stock one had a potato in the expansion chamber.

It’s 7hp difference once the others fall off.:.

Yeah, I was assuming they meant there is a 7 hp difference in the power curve somewhere

So... All top end still. I guess we'll see how this turns out.

I tried a PC on mine years ago. Lost a lot of bottom end grunt but gained it all on the top end. Nice midrange hit to let you know it was building. Stock pipe is actually pretty nice if you short shift it. It seems to fall off on top. I’m currently running a Factory Fatty and love the power delivery. Not as agressive off the bottom but has a nice mid range and top end. It’s a nice “in the middle” type of pipe. Less bottom then stock but less top end then PC.

Curious about this new pipe tho. Maybe I’ll have to snag one and see what it’s all about

I moved to a YZ250 from a 125 way back in 2006, so the PC pipe was great for me - more overrev and less arm-yanking bottom end. I'll probably get one for my new bike, too.

If my memory serves me right, I thought the reason for not releasing it was RV's bike had radical porting, an ignition, piston and super high end gas and the pipe by alone was kind of a dud.

Pro Circuit makes a great product but sometimes the stock pipes perform very well. I ran a stock pipe on my 06’ and 08’ YZ250. Tried FMF, but took it back off because it was all bottom end. I just threw an aftermarket silencer on and called it good. A fresh piston and ring makes a bigger difference than a pipe.

If you're a top end revver then PC is the go to, but DEP is the best pipe I've tried to date on the YZ250. FMF if you're a bush basher.

It's not often a pipe developed for an elite rider will fit the needs of the average Joe.

If you guys are looking for more information on what the new pipe will be like performance wise, watch Ping's Whiskey Throttle ride review of Roczen's straight rhythm bike. Ping talks about the pipe and its characteristics.

I saw a post, probably on pulps social media with the dyno overlay of the previous pc pipe, the new spec and the stock pipe.

The gains of the new spec appeared at the higher rpm range when the other pipes taper off.

Exactly what I thought when I bolted the PC pipe on my new 05 YZ250, wasn’t much longer before it got smashed and the stocker went back on, stock pipe was best for all around performance IMO…gearing and jetting way more critical….

I had a FMF fatty and a PC pipe for a YZ250 I built up. The PC pipe made the bike run so bad I put it in the trash - at the riding area I was at. I was shocked.... I did have good luck with PC pipes on a CR125 years ago. But that YZ250 pipe was not good at all IMO.

Hey guys, I have used a FMF Fatty/Powercore II and then paired with a Shorty, and now run a PC Works pipe/R304 silencer. You simply do not lose that much bottom end. Compared to a Bill's pipes with RAD Valve, my bike has more bottom end, and bit less top end. The guys that say the PC pipe loses all bottom might have some jetting problem, or want to ride it like a 4 stroke. I can corner without using the clutch, no problems, and I am not a pro rider. The stock pipe, even though is good, is all bottom end, you cannot stretch out the gears, which I don't like.
