take the gum out of your mouth and 🖕 EKS
I’d still wear Scott 89s if they were available.. simple, comfortable and affordable..
Just bought new prospects for $29 from Rocky Mountain
https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/riding-gear/scott-prospect-amplifier…
On the bicycle side, the company is a dumpster fire. They had two CEOs for awhile. Not surprised

Scott goggles have always been good.
Bro they ARE available. They make some 89 Heritage model
I saw the post about when it was only Scott and Smith (and Oakley). Bet 'ya didnt know that the founder of EKS Rich Taylor's dad, Hook, used to run Smith back in the day....
They really fucked up the lens swapping system design with the Prospect. I really don't understand how they didn't invest in R&D and new molds to fix it.
It's a deal breaker for anyone that has been in contact with the competitions offerings.
Smith made a huge push in mountain bike helmets. They look terrible. Goggles are decent though.
I did not know that. You know of any vendors still selling any? Id like to snag a few pair before they go adios.
Too big for my face. 😒
Now, if Oakley made their original "O" Frames from the '80s, I'd be all over that.
Thanks, just bought 2 pairs, cheaper than just buying a replacement amplifier lens. For those that haven’t used the amplifier lens, give them a try they work great!
Scott Fury is the best value in the MX Goggle industry.
I loved my Prospects until I saw a lens change on a pair of 100% Armegas. Safe to say I only use Armegas and Airbrakes now
Even the ones in the early 2000s were good before the update. They were small enough to fit in your helmet and still gave good vision.
The 100% lens system is awesome. But the Prospect 2.0's just fit me great and have the hugest nose opening of about any goggle ever made. The Armega's are tall top to bottom with that extra lens design feature on the top that serves no purpose other than to make them push down on your nose. I'll take a fit that allows me to breathe over easy lens changes that I might do once a month or so.
You mean $60?
Pit Row
I still haven't gotten over Carrera getting out of the MX business. Give me a pair of Carrera 98's with an amber lens and I'm good. And based on what the old ones are selling for on Ebay, collectors haven't gotten over them either.🙄
Switched to Scott 89's in the late 70's along with everyone else. It will be a sad day if the name disappears.
I found some Heritage edition stuff, but it’s new goggles in old colors. Where are you seeing 89 heritage?
They were $29 as of yesterday.
Everyone clicking that link drove up the interest in their algorithm and jacked the price! 😅
Yessir, that was a really good brand. I asked The Man for the backstory on Baruffaldis at Rio years ago, because I noticed he wore them long ago and they were the first brand I ever wore. (got mine at a Hodaka dealership) He told me they were ski goggles and Euro MXers used them because they were readily available and the brand came across the pond when the racers did.
Scott already produces high end Mountain bikes and Road bikes. It is all under the Scott Sports brand. They are not expanding into anything, if anything they would be contracting and downsizing the bicycle side as the bicycle industry is in major turmoil at the moment with several large brands closing their doors this year including Nukeproof, GT Bicycles and others! And KTM learned the hard way with mountain bikes as well.
A YouTuber recently did a video explains a lot about the company. Check it out.
EDIT: I see someone also posted the same above. But still worth a watch if you want to understand the brand, don't miss this one.
Must have been some weekly deal as I definitely paid $29 as did someone above it appears.
They were $29 yesterday.
For whatever reason many of the high-end goggles don't sit right on my face and seal poorly. I got a pair of the Oakley kids goggles (small frame, simple, basic) They sit against my face and not on the helmet and I'm a happy camper!
this is great. their bikes are very cleverly designed in typical swiss fashion, but their aftersale support, parts supply, documentation, and warranty process are all abysmal. e.g. they recalled a popular mtb for a loose shock pivot bolt on an INTERNALLY housed shock and failed to post it anywhere outside of a nebulous tsb for their dealers. failure of the shock bolt results in destruction of the frame. rather than notify owners, they just YOLO'D because they didnt want to deal with the hassle of actually supporting customers. everything they make is awesome is theory but absolutely shit in practice/execution.
they really should just leave the US market rather than half-ass it like they have been for years.
****also, it was like pulling teeth just trying to get a light transmission chart for their moto goggle lenses. zero fucking documenation on what any of the tints actually do. i think they had to send me somethign from the snow side. just a delulu company****

feel like recently, things with Scott have just gotten worse. Everything from B2B communication, dealer support in general with replacement parts and warranties, and also just in general their manufacturing decisions, especially with the Sparks?
They recently had the whole product recall with the shock mounting bolt on the Spark, various design flaws in the frame, numerous electrical issues with eRides, really slow warranty process and a seriously lacking B2B support.
We've had two cross-country racers in their mid teens come in with cracked sparks that happened quite close to the recall, and Scott straight up wouldn't do anything for them because they decided they wouldn't warranty any cracked frames as a result of the bad shock mounting bolt. Not even send them a front triangle or offer them at crash replacement cost. Then we had another guy with a Spark RC who DID get a new front triangle more than a month after the recall, and after waiting nearly two months for it to arrive, they didn't even send the frame with the proper frame plugs or bearings. And why are they using plastic headset cups? It just doesn't make any sense.
We've had to wait more than a week at times to get responses on quite simple emails, almost taken close to two months for small replacement parts & warranties, and have noticed a massive lack of eRide support in regards to replacement parts, info and general response.
Are we talking about how the tabs that you must pry on to release the lens are incredibly small and hard to get proper leverage on with your fingers?
I'm always fearful that I'm going to rip a fingernail off trying to get the tab open.
That said, I believe they've updated the lens removal process with the Prospect 2.0, but I haven't tried them myself. I personally prefer the Fury to the Prospect but based on this thread I'm guessing no updates to the Fury are coming anytime soon.
I got in on the basement 😂
