I’m a big fan of chase and hes always seemed like a pretty stand up guy. Thats why the way he has been leaving teams at the end of his contracts lately has me scratching my head because it seems to be out of character.
Honda- crashes out at last smx race, storms off and just packs up his shit and leaves. Doesnt say bye or thanks to anyone, just takes off. After a few days go by to cool off Lars the team Honda manager sends chase a text asking him if he wants to go out to dinner as a farewell and a thank you. Chase never responds. Lars says on a podcast he hasnt talked to him since.
KTM- has been acting funny towards ktm this year, not wanting to race at times and just generally abrasive relationship with the team. Crashes out at the last smx and now he just unfollows ktm on ig and thats the end of the relationship… No thank you message, no farewell, just unfollow on ig and its over.
What do u guys think this is all about? By all accounts hes a pretty nice guy, but for whatever reason when it comes to his teams once hes decided to leave youre all dead to him. Seems like hes burning a loot of bridges that dont even need to be burnt. A quick “thanks for the times” lost on ig would suffice in most cases. I dont get it.

He’s like me once he doesn’t like a bike, man he really doesn’t like the bike. The next bike is gonna be the fix for me and Chase alike 👌 I just know it!!
It is odd behavior to me.
Chase seems like a pretty stand up guy…but he also seems like a crybaby. Someone should slap one of those old “No Snivelers” stickers on his helmet.
With the turn into October, his contract may be up, and his new one requires him not to follow other manufacturers. This instant may be a strictly professional move. I am not an insider so all I can do is speculate.

Ok, with Honda I can kind of understand. Chase was cast to the side a little with the Lawrence brothers occupying the same tent. Very classy of Lars to offer to take him to dinner as a farewell. With KTM who knows but it seems that relationship has been over for some time, and hey he could be acting like Prado so it could be worse! 🤣
I don’t think it’s the best way to handle a departure. If I’m changing jobs, I try to tie up any loose ends that I can, leave notes in files with outstanding issues, and be civil and cordial on the way out. I’ve left a job that I since returned to. I couldn’t have done that if I hadn’t left on good terms. Burning bridges is generally a bad idea. But it’s more than Just that for me. It’s a matter of basic respect. Maybe I’m old fashioned, but unless I’ve been seriously mistreated I feel the employer is owed a certain amount of respect. Had KTM or Honda seriously mistreated Chase?
I'd consider myself a fairly diehard Team Green fan, and ever since Tomac, it's been a pretty rough go. Early on I was hopeful with AC, but unfortunately the arm(s) situation didn't allow for him to rise to his potential. As far as El Hombre goes, it was a decent effort, there were definitely some highlights, but I was hoping for more from the guy. And don't even get me started on Princess Prado. Now with Chase's track record of chasing set ups and trying to get comfortable with the bike, I'll be interested to see how that works between him and Kawasaki, who have a history of only allowing a rider so much leeway with the bike. Who knows, maybe he gels with the bike, and we get to see Team Green back on top, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Honestly at this point, I'd love to see Marchbanks get a chance on the KX450SR, even if he was only a 5-10 place guy, at least you could take home the fact that he'd be trying his ass off and he'd be grateful for the opportunity.
Fast racers are like hot girls, they'll always get chances no matter how many bridges they burn because this time it'll be different.
Big difference is...with hot girls, no matter how psycho they are...there is an endless stream of guys who think they are the answer. The problem with fast racers who burn bridges...there are only so many teams in the stream.
I like Chase and as a team green homer I’m excited but he flirts with the line, on occasion, of what I deem professional. Compared to prado he is a model employee though.
I don't see an issue with Chase. I do see an issue with 👆 these guys though.
Lars was very bummed about the way things went down with Chase. He considered him a good friend and wanted to keep him on the team. Dealing with Chase's dad is another story...
I think maybe he gets to the point where he just needs a Snickers.
I didn't know about the way he left Honda. Quite surprising.
As others have mentioned, it's basic respect at the end of the day.
Chase is gonna get a lot of 3rd place finishes the next couple years, sure it will be he is not comfortable etc...would think he retires after this next contract., of course it is just speculation, i have no facts.
Yeah, I could see that happening. He's gonna run out of bikes to race at some point isn't he.
Agreed. Chase didnt have to go to dinner with lars or do any of that stuff, he doesnt owe them that. What I do think he owes them though is at least a thanks and a hand shake, in person.
For what it’s worth, Nobody gets more criticism than Chase from the media and fans, nobody.
Pit Row
Valid point.
Lots of 3rds is lots of money. He won’t be happy but he should be. Jett’s just unreal.
It’s crazy because the reason he gets so much Crap is everyone thinks he is the only person on earth who can run with Jett in sx. Pretty unfair to chase with how good Jett is but I do think Chase is the only person who can beat Jett straight up more than once in a season. A few could on a good night.
until JO gets on a 450 then he'll be getting 4ths
Seems like Chase said thanks to Honda to me. Not that it went down perfectly as nothing ever does. I am sure Honda had their own issues too that caused plenty of it. Remember there are always two sides to any story and the truth typically lies somewhere in the middle.
I've always liked Chase, and as a Team green guy, I'm rooting for his success. He always rides hard, and he's not the first rider to talk about set up issues. KR, ET, CW and other fast riders have all done the same. Set up problems are not rare in pro mx, it's how you handle them.
Note: Not like Prado did!
Maybe Kawasaki just made CS a better offer? Isn't that why most pro atheltes move on to other teams?
I expect Chase will do similar as he leaves KTM. I don't begrudge him for switching teams in a businesslike manner, at the end of his contract or even within it as long as it's professional.
All he needed was a Pepsi...
I truly wish Sexton the best. I hope his transition back to aluminum frames doesn't come with the front end tuck. I remember riding a buddy's Kawi 450 and the engine braking was so bad it would lunge me forward when the bike is already set up front heavy when stock. Nowadays they can get rid of engine braking a lot easier with tuning, but I still think the Kawi might be as rigid as that damn Honda was. Time will tell and I hope he gels well with the bike and team. Its been 25 years since Factory Kawasaki had a #4 on their bike. Should be pretty special to see.
Shhh, don't sa the "tuck" word.
And he did say in an interview this year that the Honda was actually better than he was saying it was, takes balls to admit that.
Funny how everyone else can win on the same bikes that Chase has had. It is not the bike. Same rider, same results, different color bike next year.
