Can he? Certainly. Most people have the ability to forgive. Will he? Highly unlikely. His past has built up to this action. His support group/circle encourages this for their "Look at Me" mentality (Social Media). Like the apology he issued Saturday evening (There was none). I do not foresee it coming. While he is a fantastic dirt bike rider, he has failed as a human being. I am betting he does not see what he did was wrong. His move now.
He cant win back support he never had.
Nicely said.
i've said it forever, Deegs is gonna be JB51 2.0. He'll get some wins on good nights, but will mostly be known for pulling stupid shit like he did Saturday. As Barcia has aged, it seems he's regarded warmly as a "Love him or hate him - it's who he is" type attitude which is what I think Deegs will be seen as. Jett skipping past the legend of ET3 every weekend tells me Deegs won't have shit for him and will largely be a 3-5 place rider. And his frustration at this reality is gonna show itself frequently by just generally being a dipshit. That's my guess. Stamp it?

Time heals all. Short term...this will be discussed ad nauseum. Most can agree (even his most die hard supporters) that this weekend was a terrible look, and some fu*kery beyond ignorance. However, he'll be back. He'll be fast. What he does on the racetrack will demand discussion...good and bad.
Can we get another Deegan thread?
That's not even close to a correct statement. He was the most interesting and arguably had the biggest fan base of anybody
Very true barcia has mailed it in and accepted 8th place. . btw I really like barcia . But that's the way it goes.
The future of the sport is mouth-breathing tiktards who will never throw a leg over a dirtbike, deegan will be fine.
Barcia has done some HUGELY stupid shit (remember when he roosted the downed rider in the 250s?) but yes, he's aged and matured. I kinda like him as well as he seems genuine. What I mean is that with Deegs you can tell a lot of his stuff is "his act" just like his dad. You get what you get with Barcia and he's pretty unapologetic. Deegs is a traveling circus designed for clicks, which makes me dislike him even more.
Start by owning it and apologizing. Show some humility and stop mad dogging everyone. Doing that will clean it up a bit.
Thanks for your input there. On a subject I think is actually on the back of everybody's mind.
Just yanking your chain, man lol. At least your thread isn't another rage post.
Ok , fair enough, lol
it really is unfortunate. Kids used to be able to mow some yards and get an 80cc bike for $500. With the cost and injuries the sport IS dying and it sucks because, as you said, our fanbase will be people that have never experienced dirt bike riding...they'll just cheer for their fav IG celeb. Meh.
tough pill to swallow, getting owned by Joe, time after time, after taking the smoke to him...!! deegs made himself look like a complete idiot/cringe-master/lunatic!! and he not only lost, but hurt himself while doing so.... 0/10 night for deegs.. and the 450 class is just salivating waiting to get their chance to F his head up even more... LOLL
Hopefully he will be a bit more mature in his mid-late 20's. I don't really put much stock into him right now.
Winning cures all.
Pit Row
I think it comes down to what Monster decides to do. If they want to keep him, they’ll use the PR tools at their disposal and figure something out that will keep kids slapping that logo all over their gear. But if Monster decides to cut ties with the Deegans (highly unlikely), Haiden might be forced to go fully independent… and things will get even weirder.
I am not a Degan fan - but respect his skill.
But what degan did was common when it comes to wins and titles. Do you remember:
Osborne on Savagty - Tomac on Dungey - Villapoto on Allessi at Glen Helen - not for a title but bad blood) - Allessi on Tedesco - and lots more...
Did he go overboard - yeah. And I hope he learns from this. but give the kid a break.
But Barcia is a nice person off the track , Deegan not so much. Would anyone over the age of 25 want to spend more than 5 minutes with that kid?
The people that love folks like Deegan will love him no matter what. I doubt he lost a single fan over the weekend.
The folks that wanted to believe he was just immature and given time that things would change...might have changed their minds.
I wish him the best but can't see rootin' for him any time soon. I really wanted to.
Im going to have to disagree with you. First off I'm a huge degan fan. But I really believe this weekend was a huge turning point in his career. First , my wife and daughter can't even comprehend what he did even if I tried to explain it to them. Second, I have followed all sorts of racing for 40 years. I'm just not sure in this day of technology and social media if he will be able to recover. And I'll go so far as saying , I just hope he can keep his ride at .. Yamaha. Cause right now it it doesn't look so good
Absolutely, I remember it all. And reed taking out Stewart any time he had the chance! Loved it. , made racing to interesting, but its different today
You might be right. Time will tell.
Are you kidding? Do you even remember Barcia waiting at the Bercy SX to take out another rider and then scamper away? His career is just fine.
I wouldn't put much stock into the opinion of CTE riddled Strickland. Its called motocross, by the way, Sean. Dirt bike racing lol
He'll continue to get support from beta males in the industry. Ask yourself why this legitimate poll was moved this dumbgean.
Please explain how knock Jo out of the race would help Deegs win the championship...
We would have had to run to Hammkaer and took him out of the race as well...
I mean really. I was sad.
Had it been for the championship, like Osborn on Savatgy, different deal. This want that. It made no sense.
This. Time does heal all. There was a time Dean Wilson was a take out machine and known for riding super aggressive and now hes a fan fav. Anderson has always ridden like a tard but isnt hated by everyone.
