So on title 24 ricky introduced Mcgrath by calling him the king of smx… Isnt smx both moto and sx? Isnt it also the 3 round playoff? Youd think they have this figured out by now lol, the record books are kind of a shit show right now. Deegan is now already a 5 time champion and Mcgrath is a 7 time champion lol, which is crazy.
I dont think theres anything wrong with MC being the king of sx, hes a badass. No need to force him into the smx box imo. I also like smx and think its been a success overall, but we need to figure this whole records thing out and who qualifies for what. Saying RC is a 15 time smx champion but MC is the king of smx with only 7 championships…. makes no sense. If were trying to bring in new ppl to the sport we need to get this straightened out.

RC and JT both lean way too hard into the “it’s not called supercross or motocross anymore, it’s supermotocross”
Extremely eye rolling.
Isn't rc like a 52 time SMX champion???
🤣🤣🤣
They don't call it superstupidcross for nothing
On a related note, I crack up when they refer to Bob Hannah as a 3-time Monster Energy Supercross Champion.
I guess we’ll take their word for it that there’s so much growth and so many new eyes that it justifies pretending like 90% of fans haven’t watched for 20+ years.

Biggest eye roll of all was on Pulp when one of the Feld (I think) guys said "nobody even calls it supercross or motocross anymore, EVERYONE just calls it supermotocross"
Uh, no, no they don't. It's so forced. The races themselves are great, but this overselling/marketing nonsense is laughable.
7 SX titles and 72 SX wins. Unless they change his records to SMX its just kissing the ass of the promoters.
I have yet to hear a single person, out in the wild, familiar or unfamiliar with the sport, refer to it as supermotocross. Not a single fucking time, ever.
It's usually Supercross or outdoors that everyone I know says. In context, usually something like I can't wait until Supercross is over and we can watch the outdoors. On occasion, it's startocross or stupidcross.
JT might be the biggest corporate Yes-man i have encountered in a while. I listened to the Fly Moto 60 Show yesterday and the mental gymnastics to justify that whole stance should be regarded as impressive.
Don’t forget about Weege that tries to hype the shit out of SMX and every other nonsense in this sport.
Super fagot cross
My group of buddies will refer to it as death cross occasionally too. This is generally 1/3 to 1/2 through the season and the injury list is unacceptably high.

Did he say whether he considers it a real title? I was happy to hear Steve and Blair on their pod together dismiss it as a title. I've never heard a single person call it Supermotocross, either. I remember A1 in '23, the first year of SMX, the broadcast was calling RC a 15x SMX champ. Seriously, why?
Spray tans and steroids are expensive. Gotta keep the cash flow going to afford looking swoll.
the true is that this all SMX thing is just a reaction to WSX......it wasnt planed, it wasnt even wanted, it just had to be.....more and more top guys were going on sx only programs, and then WSX show up and its a chance for the middle guy to be sx only too, so usnationals were not looking any good in this all sx picture......strangely promotocross and feld finally get together copy a "finals series", call it world championship and, unfortunatly of course, had to drop a bit of the huge income they get from the sport.....
funny part in all this mess is that WSX was a mess itself, never being at the point of expectations and not really influencing us rider contracts has it once was expected to......still the reacting to it was done, the money bag to drop on it was known and even with all industry asking to reduce the number of races, SMX was on......it was a big bag, finally a big bag for the riders......so the reaction goes on and on
drop that money bag into a 12 race sx series, then a 10 race mx series so that it becames profitable to be a pro racer even without a factory contract, and since you are at it, drop a smaller bag into a real youth series of few races in pro tracks were kids have to actually manage races into a championship and learn to be a pro racer......i guess it will do a lot better to the growth of the sport all together, then focusing on reacting to something that didnt that end up not being the competitor that once was thought it could be.......
Just call the thing a world championship, give the top 20 MXGP guys a chance to qualify and hold it on real motocross tracks and they would really have something.
That’s not true. SMX was in the works before WSX was ever a thing. In fact, you could say WSX only exists because of the creation of SMX. SMX was created to get a better TV deal because NBC/Peacock wanted nearly a years worth of programming with a playoff format. Before SMX, why would Feld care if anyone raced Pro Motocross or not? They weren’t a part of that series and had the rights to the FIM World Supercross Championship title. You can read more about it from ML’s interview from the original announcement here:
https://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Moto-Related,20/Cliff-Notes-from-Feld-MX…
Planning this level of event series takes time and I think that itself played out right in front of our eyes. WSX made their public announcement first and the whole thing collapsed on itself before Rd. 1 even happened. Where as SMX released their public announcement at a later date and it went off without a hitch for the first 3 years and they just renewed it for another 5 more years. But because of that I see a lot of comments going “It’s just a reaction to WSX!”
Pit Row
SuperMotocross is a dumb name, but it was better than the alternative;
"Haiden Deegan's Indoor/Outdoor Dirt Biking tour Featuring Special guests, presented by Monster Energy"
Yeah that does make SuperMotocross sound like a much better option. I can’t say it in my head without sounding like Doofy from scary movie.
This made me laugh 😆
Yeah that was a very rough listen. Personally, I dont give a damn what the series is called HOWEVER, listening to Weege sit there and defend the stupid ass points structure of SMX (it makes no sense. Race 1 essentially worth nothing and race 3 is winner take all) and compare it to a 7 game series or the SUPERBOWL?....WTF are you talking about dude? If a series comes down to game 7 that means THE TEAMS ARE TIED AT 3-3...meaning each has won an EQUAL AMOUNT OF GAMES. Not a winner take all because the first 6 games were worth LESS.
Weege and JT are good guys but god they are so defensive of this series its embarassing at this point.
I agree that the forced use of SMX when it wasn't a thing is completely unnecessary and stupid. RC getting called the 15 time SMX champ was the dumbest thing I've heard in relation to the SMX series and former champions.
JUST STOP
I liked MC's opinion on Haiden.
Rick with the perennial "brought to you by Carls Jr." any chance he gets. prob wears a monster lapel pin to family funerals. sorry, poor taste, i know.
Superdupercross!
Moto content creators are becoming more insufferable by the day, I don’t think I’ve listened to a podcast or watched a YouTube video (that wasn’t a race) in about 6 months I just can’t stomach the regurgitation anymore
I know that comes across as pretty negative but it’s the truth for me. I do still enjoy the magazines, articles here and of course, the races.
All the ppl who downvoted my post lets hear your opinion. If ricky called MC the king of SMX with 7 championships then what does that make RC of SMX with 15 championships?
It makes Ricky a liar since SMX wasn't a thing when MC was racing...............
