The title says it all.
Yes, I know it's down for Assen that year.
But , seriously, to have that 1987 to 2027 tie in, would be wonderful.
That it would be in the USA within 2 years, well, I don't think many would bitch about it - I hope.
To have the event, at a significant time with regards to when it was last there, at one of THE Most Magnificent tracks in the World, well, how could anyone not want to see it?
I daresay the next US MXdN may be , again at Iron Man, but, I really hope that somehow, Luongo (yes I know it's Infront now, but The Luongos still are behind the 'curtain' pulling the strings) and DC, could see just how Historic, and, Massive ($$$$$$$$ for both sides of promotion) such a return to Unadilla, would be.
Spring Creek gets my vote for the next MXoN in the USA
Isn’t Unadilla like 3 hours from a major international airport? If so, it ain’t gonna happen when you have 2 great tracks (Crawfordsville and Red Bud) that are in the Coombs family’s back pocket and within an hour or two of a major airport. Not saying it wouldn’t be cool, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
Unadilla’s history is cool, but most MXoN fans flying in from Europe don’t care about nostalgia — they care about getting there. And Unadilla is a nightmare for travel, parking, and facilities. Even Google Maps won’t route me from Chicago. For MXoN scale, it’s just not practical compared to RedBud or Ironman.
I "wouldn't bet on it ", either.
It's just a thought for a bit of nostalgia / a direct line to the '87 event.
On, one of the Greatest Tracks in the World.
I'm old (and silly, I know), and can remember '87, and, we've just seen Unadilla last weekend. - it being at a track like that, as against a 'pop up' at Assen, well, there's a bit of difference there.
They had no problem with attendance in '87, even with the weather, nor it's lack of proximity to International Airports.
And, the only 2 year gap between MXdNs in the USA, would be of concern, and I'm not a fan of such a short time between this year and '27.
It Will Not Happen, of course, but I think it was a missed opportunity - that was, of course, missed some years ago, with planning / awarding the event line up timeframes.
PS : I have nothing, whatsoever, against Ironman, or Millville. I was a fan of John Martin, through his Enduro / Offroad exploits, well before his boys were born. Here he is arcing it up on his way to winning the ( what I think was ) '82 Coal Mountain National Enduro , the other pic I have listed as being from the '83 Loretta Lynne Enduro / GNCC:

Too remote, and the soil is ruined. We used to go to the USGPs there. Hannah vs Omara and all, it used to be great, could camp there too. But like the hot girl in high school who went throuh three marriages, this track isn't what it used to be. Too many amateur races, gncc, burned it out.
Nope Millville is a far better track than Unadilla. Unadilla is basically flat with almost zero jumps...lame. Spring Creek gets the biggest nod for the next new Des Nations track in USA.
Perhaps you are biased but I'm on board with Spring Creek, it's spectacular on all accounts.
Track is a business and gotta make money man. Can't be grass for the whole year. If Tim Ritchie got his hands on this track and applied his formula could maybe change the track soil. The layout is very good though, great features and rough. I'm good with the track being remote.
I completely understand, I own a business. I am all for making money, and it still a good track. It just isn't what it used to be. And in this day and age, it being remote, is a deal breaker for many in the industry internationally.
“Basically flat”
My calves hurt just as bad after both races. Millville has one big hill, Unadilla drops in and out of one hell of a valley. I bet Unadilla actually has more elevation per lap than Millville. Millville has a higher peak number in change of course, but total change per lap I think is owned by Unadilla.
Response to Spoonguy: I 100% agree that Unadilla isn't what it used to be, but it's still an amazing motocross track and facility. It wasn't wet enough and I don't think having practice on Friday helps it. If the track owner wishes to have "Open Practice" just do that Sunday and Monday afterwards. Maybe wait and do the AHRMA Vintage weekend in the fall so the Unadilla MX track COULD be grass again for the AMA National. (not my photo)
I got downvoted for saying High Point but that was strictly because it’s super close to home for me.
Realistically Unadilla or Spring Creek would be my favored tracks for MXdN. Unless Mad Mike decides to make Steel City great again, then that’s my vote.
I was at Unadilla for the 1987 MXoN and the place was PACKED so yes international can and will make the trip.
Bring back the original rough not SX track for this event.
Oh yeah definitely biased. But I mean just look at what Spring Creek offers as a track compared to Unadilla. Unadilla is fast, limited jumps and soft turns. Spring Creek has every type of turn, huge elevation changes, 3 types of dirt. Best spectator viewing out of all other tracks.. Spring Creek is a way better option.
That was almost fifty years ago, times have changed, the people running the sport has changed, the people sponsoring the sport has changed. The biggest town within an hour of the track is Syracuse.
bro, Unadilla would be so watered down, remove the skyshot, remove screw-u, add sand, add a wood section, add more vip viewing... no thanks
I think many if not most would agree that Spring Creek is an all around better facility, but when you say Unadilla is flat and lame you kind of blow your credibility and look, well, dumb.
Pit Row
Screw-U would definitely be renamed to "pardon me, I'm sorry"
Seems to be a lot of talk from the brothers lately about it makes me think it's on the table. It would be awesome.
Best track in the series.
MXoN needs to be on the West coast when it comes stateside again.
These should be our three top picks in no particular order
Millville
Glen Helen (flame away)
Thunder Valley
Forgot using Google; if you’re coming from Chicago then Professional will give you a much more interesting ride out to Dilla.
Having Screw U is a must. Remember it took Hannah 3 attempts to get up it in the mud MXoN and he still won the 125 class.
Now THAT would be a ride
You have obviously never been to Unadilla. You could call it the best track on the circuit. But it is smack dab right in the middle of nowheresville.
Unadilla would have to sell many over priced cups of bud lite to offset the cost of the event…based off what I seen last week….it’s possible they can do it…For a proper MXDN race, the track should be seeded in the spring, let grass grow until the event, let track develop, no grooming all day….I wonder how the riders feel about the track these days?
Millville for next MXDN.
I would put Budds, Lakewood, Red Bud, and GH above Unadilla.
all i know is, i dont want it back at red bud. dont think it's the best race track.
How many riders say Unadilla is their favorite track? I've NEVER heard 1 rider say so. Yet almost half the riders say Millville is their favorite.
Post a reply to: 2027 MXdN at Unadilla - what I think many would want.
