IMG 4788 0.jpeg?VersionId=cRAThese seem to be making a comeback in a mega way! I know they help during sleep for sure!  Anyone a firm believer in them while training and riding?

I hate stuff touching my face and its extremely annoying if an edge lifts. So, no.

It's roost protection for his nose.

I used to use them for sleeping, but the normal store ones always fall off in the night and they end up stuck somewhere and leave a nasty residue...

That said, as far as I can tell they have been used in sports, two wheeled sports in particular, for over 20 years on and off. I don't particularly remember the specifics, but there was a mural of some legendary road racer and he had one on in the mural. Did a deep dive on this some time last year.

I'd love to try one of the sport specific ones, but I'm too much of a penny pincher. I'm more interested in the re-useable ones you stick UP your nose that don't have any disposable component.

Also, if you ever see someone wearing one of these while doing a podcast you can safely assume they are a well and true mouth breather in every other aspect.

I am (190-200 during race). In through nose out through mouth. Lower heart rate with 5-7bpm.

Cant do it without the strip, night and day difference.

There you go, they do work.

So ban them, it's an aid, just like smelling salts and IV,s on race day.

Some has genetics that allow them to breath through nose properly, some don't. So it's just evening the playing field.

It's been a game changer for me because I have nose issues from breaking it when I was a kid. The strips  make me feel normal. i only use them when riding.

Don't mention 'strips' and 'Deegan' in the same sentence - 971 will explode.

What brand do you use and where do you get them? My son is having the same type of issues.

They're interesting. I have always had a hard time breathing through my nose while riding and will use them from time to time. When they stay on, they're great, but they only stay on 1 out of 10 times using them in my experience. The minute I start sweating they come off.

Which ones are you using? I've tried different ones over the years (slight nasal passage blockage/deviation) and none i've tried have done shit for me. Looks like they use the magnetic ones.

I don’t care if people put stickers on their face. Understand how much they can help breathing, and there’s also room for a logo/endorsement check so it’s a double win.

They work - the main thing is cleaning off your face (or bridge of the nose) before you put them on and also making sure you place them in the right spot. Long as the skin isnt "oily" before you apply it they make a massive difference for me, even if I sweat after - but I have forgotten to wipe the area before and then they seem like a cheap gimmick and fall off.

I use them and have tried the Aiir and SLYD strips.  I think the SLYD ones stay on better for me. Like the post above mentioned the biggest thing is to make sure your nose is clean.  I have some single use alcohol wipes in the truck that do the trick perfectly.

Someone told me this is abnormal but I breathe through my mouth and nose simultaneously. Some kid told me it was impossible in 5th grade and i did it. I'll get some and report back lol.

Hostage tape ones don’t leave a residue or mess with my skin. I use nose strips and mouth tape. Sleep quality is much better.

I've been using the Intake Magnetic one recently.  Absolute game changer for me.  I am a full on mouth breather without it.  The first day I got it I wore it on a MTB ride on a loop I do regularly.  I watch my HR on this loop always on every ride so I'm very familiar with what my HR is at every spot on the route and relative to my exertion.  First ride with the Intake, HR was running about 5 to 15 BPM below normal.  Massive difference.

I've used the breathe-rite strips in the past and they were minimally effective and not very sweat resistant.  I haven't tried any of the newer ones like Deegs has which look more stout and likely effective.  But I think the Intake magnetic one is a better design, more sweat resistant, and actually pulls your nose open more.  I wear it a full day of moto in the AZ summer heat and it is still sticking strong at the end of the day.

My wife started making me wear them in my sleep, then I noticed everyone wearing them on the broadcast and tried wearing one during a workout, and it made a huge difference. I've never been able to breathe out of more than one nostril at a time, so I need all the airflow I can get.

I thought they were gimmicky, but decided to try them. Makes a huge difference for me. For whatever reason my right nostril always sounds and feels like I have a permanent cold on that side. This opened the nostrils up and I could finally breath normally. I only wear them during riding/racing and once in a blue moon during any planned hardcore cardio workouts. The magnetic ones are kind of pricey, but the nasal strips you'd use for sleeping fall off the second I start to sweat.

Power of your breath by Anders Olsson is a great read on nose breathing.

I’ve always struggled with nasal strips coming off from either sweat or my goggles rubbing, and I always thought maybe it’s the shape of my nose that caused it.

I tried out the SLYD strips right before Sx and they have been staying on even in the Texas summer. Same ones Deegs wears.

I have always had issues with allergies and most brands I would get at CVS wouldn’t stay in place for me and the SLYD ones do.

I use intake on big mtb rides/races using medical tape to hold the magnets on (i don't care how much they say they are sweatproof, they are not)

The Intake magnets have been rock solid for me.  I clean my nose with an alcohol wipe before sticking them on.  It might also help that I put them on in the AC of my truck when I pull into the track, before I step out and start sweating.
