Did something happen to Kris Keefer? I saw he had a DNS in moto 1 of the 40+ class.

Man I wish he would just race the 350 at LL. He talks about it every year. Sucks the TF broke.

I hope for Triumphs sake it isn’t the transmission like we have been hearing about … that would be a bad look!

That sucks, I thought he said he was going to ride the Yamaha?

I'm surprised that a rider with as many followers as Keefer has couldn't come up with a spare engine if that is what broke.  You'd think Triumph would have overnighted an engine if that's what it took to get him back out there.  Did anyone hear what happened?

Apparently he had a failure earlier in the week as well. I think it was while jumping cause I think he said he had to step through the bars.

He likely could have fixed it but decided it wasn’t worth the risk with 2 failures in a short amount of time.

With the reliability issues that are pretty well documented here, I'm surprised that Keefer would have chosen hinge his Loretta's results on a new bike with some obvious issues.  How soon before Loretta's is a rider forced to declare what bike he will be racing at the ranch?  Maybe he had to declare prior to the transmission issues being well known.

The Yamaha had the failures leading up to Loretta’s which is why he scrambled to get a Triumph with about an hour on it from a dealer.

Pretty sure keefer was involved with developing it, and he posted in the triumph transmission thread so he knew about that problem. No indication of what went wrong on his bikes though. You can ride whatever bike in LL up to when you sign up I believe and possibly even after?

Edit because post above had more info.

He said on his pod that his Yamaha was having electrical issues he could never get solved so the switch to the triumph was already very last minute and no time on that actual bike. Once he had an issue i think it was more a matter of OK that's enough trying to force this to happen this year.

He wouldn't really say what the triumph issue was though, so makes you wonder.....

I get not wanting to throw your employer under the bus but kinda goes against everything he usually stands for about being forthright and honest to not say what the Triumph issue was

He said he was going to race the triumph anyway but the morning of the race they couldn’t get the trailer out of the air bnb and could only get one bike in the truck they had.

Can you race a one brand one moto and another brand another moto or do you have to run the same bike?

I don’t think it was transmission on the triumph. He didn’t say, but he did say he could have easily fixed it if he had brought spares with him like he should have. I doubt he considers tearing into the transmission easy, but I could be wrong.

The family discussed their issues getting out of the AirBnB pretty in depth on their podcast, it seemed like a pretty hilarious while sucky situation.

Biggest race of the year I’m getting 4 bikes in a Honda ridge line, someone can go back and get extra gear or whatever

Yeah I could get two bikes in a Honda Fit for that.

I listened to the podcast, maybe i missed something but did he not even get the bike to the track?

So was it not getting bike to track, and/or bike wasn't working that stopped him from racing?

Maybe the race isnt that big of a deal for him. Maybe I'm remembering wrong but I feel like I remember him on Pulp talking about only racing it because of his son

He didn’t get the bike to the track. There was no room in the truck (Chevy Colorado) after they loaded up Aden’s bike, tools, etc.

From what I took from it, he was riding one bike, it broke twice, had a close call on one of the “breaks” and had a “saw Jesus” moment.

Got a different bike from a different OEM and then something broke on that bike not long before heading to LL.

At that point Keefer was like screw it it’s just not meant to be.

He rode practice Monday & bike had issues. He did originally hand the bike in the trailer but Tuesday when they got stuck they unloaded the trailer & we’re cutting it close on time so they left his bike. Idk man.

If he was planning on racing his Yamaha & was having electrical issues, why didn’t he go get a fresh Yamaha? Could have swapped suspension, exhaust, whatever other parts he wanted been good to go. Makes 0 sense to go get a triumph. But idk man he’s a pretty smart guy & always has reasons for his moves so maybe couldn’t find a Yamaha or something.
