What do we think is the reason behind Jett and Hunter’s seemingly down results amongst the pines?
There are so many tracks on the US circuit that look completely foreign dirt wise… but if I thought about typical Aussie moto tracks the Washougal dirt comes to mind…
And the boys are smooth. Their bikes are too supposedly… seems like it should be a match made in heaven!
Not the end of the world but does strike me as weird.
Jett and Hunter have been racing in Europe and the US for the last 9 years, Aussie dirt will be a distant memory.
Washougal has always been Hunter’s worst track, and today was no different going by his lap times. Also heard Jett say he doesn’t like it, so there’s definitely something to it.
From Southern Queensland!? 😆
Washougal nothing like where they were born or where they live currently.
Fast as hell hard pack clay...when it's wet on top it's ice...no matter the season...Shadows for days..Wasn't ripped to shit like usual today.
Jett knows the 'ice' feeling ...you can see it...they all do.
Sketchy first laps for all trying to push and but being aware of how slick it is....it doesn't feel like it looks.
I'll shut up because this is all irrelevant ..They absolutely shredded the place to pieces

Hunter’s result lies square on Matthes’ shoulders. He gooched the bike by losing the start contest to JT.
They are Douglas Fir trees, Not Pines you flatlander
It's very steep in real life, there isnt even a slight slope in Australia. Also with the 450s going first the track is very fast, Jett and Hunter prefer beat to shit technical tracks IMO.
Yeh nah for sure
Ummm Millville last week?
Jett and H have been saying since the early 250 days that they don't like Washougal.....
one lined , dangerous in places with the shadows etc. so i was not surprised to see jett and hunta go sub par,
especially with chase back and at one of his best tracks.
Millville is steep but more straight, at Washougal the bit out the back where you come down to the whoops is super tech. Watching Marvin Musquin do it in real life in the wet blew my mind. We couldnt even walk up or down that way.
Also the Lawernces rode great, just both Chase and Eli stepped it up big time
I've heard Hunter say he struggles with the shadows and that one second it's bright then like you're riding with your eyes closed, so I'd say with them usually being so precise they're not at all comfortable sending it not knowing exactly where their wheels are gonna be..
I feel like Washougal is never really ripped deep and the only “soft” spot is where they launch that jump going up the 2nd hill. I think if we saw some other guys getting starts like today we would be see different results at more races. Jett twice this year has crashed trying to get to the front. I know Jett went 18 to 1st at Redbud but I’m not sure he can do that every time on any track. His competition should be doing nothing but starts. He makes it so much easier on himself with good starts. The only way anyone is going to beat him more is with better starts.
😂😂😂😂
Dunno, but Roczen was a bit similar. Seemed like a track that should have suited him, but it's typically been his worst track. Strangely suits aggressive riders better
The shadows remind me of Echo Valley
As Jett said in the post race press conference, the track don’t get as rough and bumpy so the kind of riders that normally benefit from that kind of riding can’t use that to their advantage.
It’s a nice track to lay your eyes on while watching it on TV with the nice scenery, but it’s not a good racetrack compared to most of the other tracks on the schedule. It gets pretty one lined and all the shades don’t help.
The S turn with the split lane did not work out this year. Going inside-outside was clearly slower due to a bad hook in the rut. They should have worked on that between the motos since that is usually the best passing spot on this track.
I don't consider Hunter's result sub par. Tomac, Sexton and the boys were simply better on the day...I mean it ain't realistic to think Jett and Hunter can finish 1 and 2 for every race.
Hunter rode smart. He took his result without riding over his head and remains 2nd in the Championship.
Sexton had Jett covered forcing Jett to except that he was 2nd best on the day.
Pit Row
Hunter said in Lewis’s post race interview that he was happy to get the fuck out of Washougal, or words to that effect. Said he really struggles with vision in the shadows and it’s the first time in five years that he hasn’t crashed there. Straight out admitted top five was good because he wasn’t fast enough there.
Interesting tidbit about Sexton being faster than Jett through the whoops ; Chase said Jett asked him how he was doing it, turns out Chase was lugging through in 4th gear and getting drive, Jett was using 3rd.
Great interviews by the way Lewis.
Jett was fine, just off a tick. Hunter results has been elevated from Sextons absense/rust after returning, and Tomacs recent struggles. When they are their normal selves he is the 4th best guy as he was yesterday.
The weirdest thing with Hunter is how he rolls over for little bro, but fights like a pitbull with everyone else.
My big brother didn't let me get away with shit! Hunter, saw his front wheel off, indian sun burn, wet Willey on the podium, pull is underwear over his head... Something?!
They didn't have the scoop.
Chase said that in the Lewis interview? Interesting. I’ll have to check that out. I wouldn’t expect rivals would be so casual about telling each other where to pick up speed.
Race is over. That probably won't make a difference next year. Short talked about his 3rd gear starts in supercross and no one really stole his ideas.
In spite of them not liking the track Jett could have gone 1-1 had he not had his mistake, Chase and his bike looked brilliant, but Jett still had a little something on him, but he had to reach deep in his bag of tricks, and we've seen him fall off two weeks in a row. He's human after all. Hunter has been overachieving somewhat imho. His starts have been otherworldly, he's on a bike that seems to be the class of the field these days, and he trains with his brother who probably is the best guy in the world. It was hilarious on the broadcast when James and Weege alluded to Jett and Haiden not winning and we should start worrying lol.
And Chase could have gone on to beat Jett at Redbud at his first return race had he not tipped over before the rollers. C’mon man lol.
JS7 said the opposite of you guys during Moto 1 when it was CS4, JL18, ET3 running top 3. He said how great Washougal is for the top 3 guys.
Damn OP, you got this guy to post for the first time all year because you misgendered the trees.
😂😂
Did he roll over for him? Havent rewatched the moto but didn't Hunter pass him back? And Jett threaded the needle pretty good to repass Hunter. Wouldn't call that rolling over at all. He did seem to go extra hard fighting Chase when he clearly didnt have his pace,
Post a reply to: Any other Aussies confused with the Lawrence’s at Washougal?
