Just remember that compared to the US, New Zealand is tiny. We have a population of just over 4 million so for someone like Ben to go over to and race against the world's best and win a moto its a big achievement. I mean Josh was riding an Aprilia... enough said...

The only problem I have with Ben is ne cried and whinned when Alessi took him out in a slow corner at the USGP and his move on Short was far worse! I hate when guy's can Dish it out and not take it! Short showed me today,that he is twice the man BT is! BT would have never raced the 2nd moto after a hit like that! Not a US against them deal, just be a man next time you get taken out BT.

IMO MC was a much better champion than RC ever was because it's much harder to pass clean than to just clean somebody out.... i hope MC knows there are at least a few fans out there that appreciate that..... i hope Dungey knows that too, and doesn't drag himself down to the RV and BT levels in the battles ahead...

he didnt get hit so we dont know what would have happened,
its racing,maybe it was intentional,or maybe he saw the red mist and went in a bit too hot.

at the end of the day it didnt affect the results,short was okay and the USA won again, so dont stress yourself over it.

Yes, I think you are on to something.

I saw all of the euro teams get together under a big white tent just before the first motos. The Germans, the French (they brought the bread and cheese), the British, the Spaniards, the Swiss, the Swedes, and the rest. The Aussies and the Kiwis were there too. There were some protests, but the British said that they were ok, and as good as euros. The Brazilians showed and since they spoke Portuguese, they were as good as euros too.

Yes, they were all very jealous of the Americans. I couldn't hear well, but I think it was because of our quality of life and the Nationals prize money.

Anyway, Townely started chanting, "Take out Short...Take out Short...Take out Short". Then Mr. Giuseppe Luongo came in and told everyone to keep it down and told them "that they knew what to do."

I couldn't believe my ears. I asked this dude name Geoff that was coming out of the tent, and he said, "nothing to see here, move on."

Short flat out said on Sundays podcast that it was a dirty take out. Busted up from his eyes to his feet. What else do you want? There is a video, first hand accounts, and pictures. It was cheap shit to do on the 2nd lap. I know some of you think all forms of racing should be to the death, but thank god most people dont think like you. Most of us want aggressive racing where the best man wins. Not just the last man standing.

I saw Ricky and James get pretty aggressive numerous times. James and Chad too. Chad and Ricky too. It's a part of racing man. If you're a second faster a lap on a track that is hard to pass on you can't just blow the doors off someone in a different line to make the pass. You gain that second over an entire lap, not just a corner. Sometimes you have to just pull the pin and hope for the best. It worked that time. It didn't work for Jay Marmont when he tried to squeeze to the inside of Canard and fell. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, end of story.

Short wasn't OK, he was injured he said it him self. And like I said before it was a questionable move by a guy who cried when he was taken out in a slow corner as the USGP. My point is if your going to ride that way,don't cry when you get taken out. BT called Aleesi move at the USGP a dirty move,what would he call his? I'm just saying he sounds pretty 2-faced.

I was at that race and RC just about got booed out of the stadium when he punted boy wonder. Was that Anaheim 1 in 03 or 04.


I also heard that the tectonic plates that Nz is sitting on are shifting rapidly toward Europe. Must be how Townley was mistaken as a Euro rider.

I just hope Ben Townley's whole career isn't going to be judged on one tough pass. The guy is a legend, former world MX2 Champion and one of a very few guys to beat RC straight up in an MXDN race at Ernee in 2005. He's come back from being out with serious injury for 2 years, to once again run at the front of the pack and you have to admire him for it. He definately has heart! Compared to Barcia's blatent t-bone of Dean Wilson at Unadilla, the pass at Lakewood was just a little love tap. Let's face it, young Ken Roczen had just ridden rings around the pair of them and I guess BT didn't want Shorty holding him up for the next couple of laps so Ken could gap them! It was almost a mirror image of the Webber/Hamilton shunt in Singapore F1 Grand Prix, which resulted in no action bt the stewards, despite Hamilton being forced out of race.
Some clown even had the afront to say because NZ weren't in with a chance of winning the overall, he shouldn't have got near Shorty!

Barcia's pass of wilson at Unadilla was text book. The ONLY difference from that incident to the pass by Poucel a few laps earlier, was that Wilson let off for Poucel and didnt when Barcia passed him......Amazing... Canards pass of Wilson at Red Bud was way more aggressive than Barcias, but whose counting....

On the other hand, it's hypocritical for Ben to sit Mike Alessi down and tell him that everyone hates him because he rides dirty.

Short was way off the pace and Townley took the inside, Short didn´t let off - it´s racing. The guy was just passed by a 250f too so he was definitely off the pace

i still dont think it was intentional,but in all these situations some people will say it was a dirty take out and others will say it was a racing accident,and just to make you happy,short was hurt but not badly as he still rode and helped the usa win
