Airsoft or real, it's just plain dumb to treat a gun like it's a prop. I guarantee that he really overestimates his ability to handle a gun, and that's almost always when stupid shit happens (Plaxico Burress is a prime example).

I’m old so I’m not supposed to get it. But I was young once and if I’d have acted like that I’d have kicked my own ass.

I’ve been thinking about this as I was doing some lawn work and even if HE is using a fake gun or whatever, he knows the majority of his followers are younger kids. I know there’s the whole “parents should parent their kids” but I’m sure a lot of young kids idolize him and I just kinda find this type of stuff kinda bad. Sure maybe he’s using a plastic gun but maybe a kid wants to mimic this and they find their parents pistol or something. He is an “influencer” at the end of the day so maybe he should think twice about what he’s posting. 

Maybe I’m just being too woke or whatever but too many kids have accidentally killed themselves or their friends/siblings by fucking around with a gun. 

Sean Strickland was going viral a couple days ago while carrying a gun in a gym during training. Why do I think Deegan literally just copies the "famous" people he follows and then does whatever they do aswell to get any attention? 

Imagine not realising that being able to ride a dirt bike on his level already makes you one of the coolest dudes on the planet, meanwhile when he takes his helmet off the does everything to nullify that status..

I can’t believe the over reaction to this. Oh well everyone is entitled to their own opinion. By the logic of some on this , Danger shouldn’t have jumped  Larocco’s Leap on a 250, because now young kids are going to get hurt trying to do huge jumps.

This is the only post I will make in reference to Haiden outside of racing. I’ve watched the family’s YouTube channel since he was still very young. He has put in a lot of work to get where he is currently, when he could have very easily decided to live off his father’s established wealth. 

Haiden’s social media is becoming what I can’t stand about today’s teenagers/young adults. It’s mostly phony, unauthentic, and full of clout chasing. It’s reminiscent of a group of friends I went to college with. They embraced that type of stuff and it made them very unlikable. If you say anything that is in disagreement or of the contrary, don’t blindly love everything about them, or critique them in anyway, you are labeled as a “hater.” It reeks of arrogance. 

With Haiden, I’m not sure if it is all an act or if this is truly the kind of person he is turning into. Although anecdotal, several podcasts have mentioned people who are around him have made statements that Haiden is a good kid. I hope this is still the case. The kind of stuff he is posting is getting eyes on him whether it is for better or for worse, those who are fans or not. It sells and the newer generation embraces this shit for some reason. I’m 32 now, so while I am not considered young anymore, I am technically a millennial which is a generation that really started to bring this kind of content to fruition. 

This kind of stuff makes me appreciate riders like Ryan Dungey more. While he came off as “boring,” he is one of the best ambassadors our sport has ever had. Haiden works very hard and is one of the most talented riders in the world. I admire his desires to be the best in the world and his work ethic. He has a huge following, a lot out of the industry as well, and definitely influences younger riders. I hope is able to find a balance between being entertaining without becoming reprehensible. 

If I have to choose between a sport where a guy gets suspended for flashing a gun and the people in charge use words like "problematic" when talking about it, or one where the stars can say gay and retarded and post dumb videos like this with zero consequences, I'm taking this sport 100 times out of 100, but that doesn't mean that it isn't dumb for an influencer with a bunch of kids as followers to post a video handling a gun like it's a toy.
