Interesting stat: Jett hasn’t passed Eli on his way to any of his 6 wins, and Eli hasn’t passed Jett on the way to his 2 wins so far this series.
Who takes the first come from behind win? The heart says Eli, but the brain says Jett.
Either way.. Pretty dang cool we get to see these two legends battle it out.
I think a healthy, and also not locked up in politics, Chase Sexton would have the same results... Chase doesn't HS often but when he does, he usually locks it down. But, Jett has a big advantage over both Eli and Chase, he produces those top 1-3 starts like nobody's business.
We always said GP Prado was the best starter in the world, but Jett might just edge him on consistency.
Starts are more important than ever this year. And unfortunately for ET fans, Jett seems to have his starts more dialed than ET does. ET has never been a great starter to begin with, but he was always able to make beast mode work. I hope he can get his starts more consistent the rest of this year or we are going to seem more of the same as far as overall results go.
Et3 starts seemd terrible on the Kawi but seemed to improve on the Yami during the championship seasons. Im more of a Kawi fan than Yami but did notice this improvement.
Remember SMX?

Jett.
I'll say Eli. Only because Jett is likely to start ahead of him for... 12 of the remaining 14 Motos 😂
I reckon, from what I've seen so far, Hunter is the only one that might take a holey away from Jett....well, the Cowboy might surprise us. Ya never know.😉
Jett. He's a better passer than Eli. Would Jett ever get stuck behind JCoop for almost 10min on a dry track? Hell no
Well Southwick is up next. One of Eli’s best tracks. If Jett starts ahead of Eli it will likely be the first of many Eli passes on Jett or Jett’s defining moment against Eli.
I think people are overlooking how good Jett is in the sand. He spent a lot of time training in Belgium when he was younger.
Stats at Southwick
250/450 combined:
Jett has won 5/8 motos and 3/4 overalls at Southwick.
Eli has won 10/20 motos and 4/10 overalls.
450 only:
Jett 3/4 motos and 2/2 overalls
Eli 8/12 motos and 3/6 overalls.
I mean Sexton came 2nd 16 times in a row and there's still a whole lot of "He can Beat Jett!" chat so I guess the Tomac fans can be forgiven. Whats the point of these threads though? Can we just look at the points as they stand???? Much better sample set to use to derive an objective analyses of who is better other than anecdotal crap about who hasnt passed who and hypothetical 1lap speed...28 Points people, against the most badass outdoor rider I think there ever was, until Jett got on that 450. Nobody is as good as Jett and I know when Tomac retires and those words come from his own lips you'll have all been fans all along LOL
I'll watch post race reviews on YouTube every week and every week in the comments its the same thing. "Beast Mode is coming! He about to teach Jett what its all about!" Every week. After Pala moto 2. After winning the first at Hangtown. Every week. Meanwhile Jett hasnt dropped an overall, he's won 6 out of 8 motos, and has a 28pt lead. Jett is just better. If you want to put it all on the start, have at it
He was amazing on the previous gen bike when he first hopped on it. He was pulling holes on the regular. Then he seemed to regress on the updated bike. I don't know if that is it or not but the time frame seems to match up
Definitely. His starts improved dramatically on the '22 Yamaha. His current starts arent in the category they were on the Kawi. Those were abysmal. Thats where Beast Mode came from. He would be outside the top 10. Washougal '19 second moto he was back in 15th and marched to the front. That was Beast Mode!
Even Eli has openly commented that letting Jett start ahead of him has been his downfall. Hope he's been practicing starts during the week...because you can bet your ass Jett is.
Bench racing bro. Ever heard of it? If we only talked about points standings in this forum it would be quite boring around here.
I was just saying this same thing. Neither one of them have passed the other for the win yet. So far, Jett has proven he can be run down, but just edge out the pressuring competition for the win. Tomac has NOT been run down after getting the lead, so far.. Please moto Gods, just let these men stay healthy for an entire season.. We just want the show down.
There’s been multiple showdowns - Jett is better than Tomac it’s really quite simple.
Pit Row
I was clearly referring to the current outdoor season like the OP is speaking about...
Neither have passed each other, yet.
Hopefully Eli keeps the cable clutch for the rest of the season. 2019 on the kawasaki was terrible for his starts
So far, Jett has dominated. I'm curious, how do you see it? What showdown are you looking for? They're both lining up on the same gate and Jett has won every overall and 6 out of 8 motos. The showdown is happening right now and Jett is 28 points up
Until someone actually beats Jett for race wins (points), he is the man to beat. As a big Tomac fan that’s tough, but it’s the truth.
The sample size is too small.
As much as I admire Eli his bad days tend to come more often with greater points consequence than Jett, and those mistakes can happen fro, the front as well.
People do this with Chase too. We're going on 3 years of YouTube and Instagram comments saying "just wait until Chase feels comfortable, gets a good start, is on a hard pack track, etc. he's gonna smoke Jett" and when has it happened? Never, because Jett is a better rider. Chase has nothing for Jett and never will
Just one problem. Jett has never been passed (almost never). He gets out front and hits cruise control, pacing himself less than 10 seconds ahead of second place.
In other words, we still don’t know how fast this kid actually is. He has clearly learned the concept that winning with a 2 second margin is the same as 1 minute. It pays the same.
It’s going to be an exciting season. I hope Eli can throw the hammer down and beat Jett but I have my doubts.
Okay child, listen, if they both start together after the first couple turns that's a showdown. If 1 is buried in the pack and 1 gets the holeshot, obviously that's not a showdown.
In terms of showdowns, what about the moto at Pala? Or in SMX, the moto at Vegas where Jett scrubbed past Eli after sitting on him for half the race?
Jett is in a different league to anyone in the field, and actually anyone that has come before. You should except it and be glad you get to witness it.
They’ve been close enough times. There was both motos at Pala (moto 1 Eli was third after the first lap). Thunder Valley they started 5 and 8, after lap 5 they were 3 & 4 and Eli stayed behind Jett for the rest of the race.
I am a huge Kroc and Tomac fan and I love em both but for some reason it’s easier for me to just say it like it is when it comes to Jett. If you think Jett has somehow lucked into his 450 stats as they stand so early in his career then all good. Watch his 2023 race in Southwick so you understand what’s coming this weekend.
Cope harder. While you're at it, keep telling us how there's no way Star lets Eli go. Its a showdown when they both line up healthy on the gate for each moto. Eli can't start with Jett. Its a weakness in his game making Jett the superior rider. Making excuses because your favorite rider is getting beat, rather handily, makes one of us a child. If this was Chase getting the exact same results as Eli everyone would he ripping him apart. But because its Eli all we get is this spin, "well his starts aren't good."
