What’s with going silent and taking away the leaderboard during the commercial brakes?
I understand being on NBC is a big deal but what about those of us who watch it on peacock or SMX Video pass?
Just half assing with the drone and no leaderboard in silence kinda sux.
Silence was refreshing, but the leader board would have been nice
They should have Will filling the void...
Bad idea, there's no way she'd finish her story before commercials were done and they're ready to come back in with Weege and James.
I loved it. Not for the whole show, but those short interludes were terrific. Appreciate, though, that is a different strokes for different folks things.

Yes
Man...people cant catch any sarcassmmz
HaHa!
I don’t understand why they couldn’t/didn’t leave the full leaderboard up.
I'd watch the whole race that way. Just add the leader board.
Reminded me of the NASCAR Crank it Up segments. I like it, felt a little like being trackside.
They likely use those breaks to run to the bathroom and or grab a drink or snack, rest their voices etc. When my mom was doing radio and she heard one of those longer songs playing she would always say, Looks like somebody had to use the bathroom. Back then there might only be the DJ at the station late at night and they would play a longer song so they could go to the bathroom. Or so they could eat something or both.
Back then ( late 90's ) nothing was digital ( CD's for music but that's it) and they only had a few carts that could run while they took a break. The Carts were like an audio tape that was only a set amount of time 30 seconds, 60, etc whatever amount of time they sold. It rewound itself after playing . they had a cart for each add. and 2 or 3 , 4 at most cart machines. And had to physically load them and hit play. So playing a long song was the only way You could safely run to the bathroom. They could be fined for dead air. Not sure if that has changed or not, but they were required to have audio playing the entire time they were on air. The station could be fined if they had dead air for too long.
I have no issue with the broadcast crew, but the ad breaks are my favorite part. Just the sounds of dudes ripping dirt bikes should be part of the program a couple times per moto
FFS of all the things...
I love it. Always sigh a little when they come back. Still, so much better than supercross. Wish we just had an option to listen or mute the broadcast with the international smx pass. Would love to just hear the bikes.
Id pay double for a whole show this way. It really feels like I am sitting in the stands just watching.
It would be even cooler if we could change the cameras as we like and "follow" other points of the race.I really feel this will be a thing in the future. The user will be able to control the "production" or "point of interest" in their own way. There will always be a default to fall back on like the way it is now... but the user will have more choice in the future.
my worthless $0,02
I like it. Early 2000s when moto was on speed tv, there would be like 10 seconds of raw moto after a commercial break, then the announcers would come back on. Brings me back every time.
I loved it and wish there was more silence. Just need the leaderboard.
Pit Row
The best part of the entire broadcast were the moments of no talking heads during commercial breaks. I wish there was an App/option to turn off the talking heads and the shrill DEI pit reporter.
Vital never knows how to vote on sarcasm. 6 up vote? All being sarcastic with you. 4 down votes…being literal. All 10 votes……HELL NO!! (Literal…lol)
Living up to your name eh? Even my wife commented on how nice it was to not here Weege's over-excited delivery for a bit. And don't get me started on Screech
Holy Fk! The mute button was absolutely mandatory!! I really appreciate them giving us a warning each time she is about to flap. I use that short pause to snatch the remote and hit mute before she gets started.
Happy Pride month, Fucker
Do You remeber when they had the option to switch between 2 feeds? They had the main broadcast and then an optional camera.
It would be cool when they do the multiple boxes if You could click onto one and that would fill the screen instead of having to watch both. And then when it went back to a single main image it could just switch back.
It could work on computers, tablets and phones. Not sure if TV's would be able to work like that yet or not. But I would think its possible. The Youtube app on my TV allows me to select the next video , or subscribe, etc. when the end screens come up. That's kind of similar to what would need to happen.
It would also be cool to line the track with enough insta360 X5's or their Prograde cameras and stream those in 360 with just the local audio. And You could watch wearing virtual reality goggles , FPV goggles, etc. And be able to look around like You are there. I'm going to try doing this on a much smaller scale for my sisters wedding. She can send virtual invites to the people who can not make it, but would like to watch. And then they can look around if they want, and feel kind of like they are there.
They could sell VR tickets. Plug in the audio from the track announcers with options to have broadcast audio instead and adjust both the local to the camera audio levels and the announcer levels. It could double as a way to study how many people watch racing without the engine sounds, or without the people talking. It would be so cool !
They said they were on NBC, so it was tailored for that (450s going first), so it was centered around TV, not the streaming service. That's why it was different. They probably stay silent so they can come in on cue, without being mid thought/sentence, no distractions.
Breaks.
You could have had Wil narrating the commercial breaks.
Insert Ricky and Leigh in for the commercial breaks so we can figure out whether or not guys are going for it.
I use the opportunity to say:
"Red Honder"
"KawasakiMan"
"Blue YamaHARR!"
Yes….or the whole time…solo! …and maybe cut away from racing to the booth…a lot!!
i bet the booth crew enjoyed it too
