I have said it before and I’ll say it again. No factory bike is so bad that you can’t win on it.
At some point you have to work around the problems as a rider. You might not be 100% on it but you should still be able to podium/top 5 on bad days if you are as good as Prado is.
Both Prado and Sexton clearly dig them self a deep hole when it’s not perfect while other riders work around it to their best abilities.
I don’t want to hear another word how slow Prados bike is while he races Guillod on a stock bike with an exhaust system.
Yeah there's not really a valid excuse for Prados performance. Also he picked Kawi and it's on him to set up the bike to his liking.
Strangely somehow riders that move over full time struggle more than riders that do a one-off race (Desalle, Herlings, de reuver, Simpson, etc). Not sure why that is.
Vialle for me is less of a surprise (in terms of his outdoor results since coming over to America) because truthfully though the top MX2 guys are no slouches, I do believe that overall the AMA 250s are a bit faster - particularly stateside on their tracks. At heart I still expected Tom to be a bit better outdoors if I'm honest since coming over (and certainly better than he's been lately...) i.e almost always on the podium etc. But Deegan in comparison is a generational type talent and would get the better of just about any 250 rider currently imo.
Prado is different. You'd expect him to be as bit off but not this far off... I mean he's not really in it... And when then they do follow him around you can see why. He doesn't look anything like his former self at all. He looks like a rider winning a moto with a 40 second lead on the last lap, cruising round, waving to the crowd here and there, perhaps throwing some whips (I mean in terms of energy) etc on the way to victory. When you see the guys at the front they look as you'd expect; mental. Like there's a t-rex snapping at their heels. They can't fly down those hills and through those braking bumps etc fast enough.
Not wishing to sound mean against Jorge - I'm sure he'd agree that he's way off. It'd be an unintentional insult to suggest otherwise. I want to see him do well and ultimately add to the series for all of us.
It feels like a panic button situation, but Prado is an intelligent, experienced - multi time world champion. Lots of new, coming off injury, I didn’t expect it to be this rough, but it’s still early. Last week in interviews, his demeanour was cool, calm and confident. I feel like his comments about the engine were clipped to sound negative, he was also positive about the bike. He also understood he was far off, but didn’t seem too stressed about it. He is definitely one guy who only likes to win, so he will be very motivated to turn things around. But it’s still a learning year.
Once his demeanour changes, it’s bad…

When i was watching the first practice, I was like "Prado should crush this" as it looked very Euro conditions. Was shocked he wasnt in qualifying contention till the end.
Yup the Euro's only race the GP's and dont also race all the various countries National series also. We're so superior. Its why we win the MXdN every year..........
I agree the stock KX450 is a good bike. Having said that, between the recall on the ‘25 and the pretty terrible results between Prado and Ando, it’s not a good look and I’d bet sales are suffering. Kawi bosses are probably not happy at all.
The US or Australia win it this year….
And here we go with the excuses. Jett has been unhappy with his setup, but he overcomes it because that's what champions do. The bIke can drop you from 1st to 3rd. But it's not taking you from 1st to barely in the top 10.
Jorge lost his confidence in SX. Then he got hurt and lost his prep time. This was completely predictable, which is why Kawi told him not to push it in SX, stay healthy, learn, and be ready for outdoors. But his ego got the best of him.
is "uncomfortable" Spanish for "kind of slow"?
Herlings looked like a shell of himself for 4-5 races. Now he is back dominating the last couple rounds. Hopefully Prado is just not 100% yet and can make a herlings style come back the second half of the season.
You are a wack job man. Calm your tits down it is round three
Vital,s pre race show was good. Prado,s attitude is surprisingly good. Considering the bike is not raceable . Sounds like a lot of problems with the bike. He even said I didn’t race anybody yet . That has to be flustrating. He is here to race.
Dude, its not worth your time explaining this.
90% that read these posts are normal dudes.
The other 10% I truly believe just enjoy getting reactions out of people.
I fall for it occasionally to try to explain.
I realize too, Someone could post “Happy Indelendence Day” on the 4th of July and it will get downvoted. Always 1 guy on here that no matter what you post will down vote. It would be fun to learn what national he may attend this year. Id like to buy him a turkey leg.
The guy is broken mentally and probably second guessing his decision to come over. He was the man in europe making a shitload of money, big fan base. And like the saying goes " if it aint broke dont fix it."
Good point and very true. Lets not throw in the towel yet. Not so much change for JH though.
Its kind of weird, tom looks like hes gotten slower in both mx and sx since last year, but he still backed up his sx championship. Its still working, but doesnt look like its going in the right direction, esp right before hes about to go to 450s. I do feel like with more power in the 450 class and his smooth style theres a chance it works out pretty good, hanpshire is right around top 5 so far. Idk well see.
I will say both Prado and Anderson got solid starts in moto 2 making the power argument slightly less of an issue. Not saying he won’t like more, but power is not the main issue right now. Prado ran 5th for a lap or so then fell to 8th/9th, then was gone. No idea what happened.

Pit Row
Put the pipe down
Prado should ride a season on the pc250
Another one fooled by the green monster 😂. Boxhead’s story will be the same. The shitty frame and “fading” wp shock on the Indian/Austrian bikes looking pretty good now. A fkn balding red neck gave Jett and “Beast Mode” all they could handle while the mxgp champ is struggling to tread water.
I think so too. He always looks in control but looks uncomfortable pushing the 250 as hard as the other goes do and just isn't aggressive at all. He might surprise us on the 450.
Prado will most likely try and stick it out. It’s unfortunate that he’s in this situation but he’ll adjust somewhat. Hopefully he can get the bike to work similar to Febvre, but look how long that’s taken. People will start to forget about him after awhile.
Febvre took to the bike quickly.
Does Star give Eli a bike for the MXdN this year? Wonder how will shake out. We need Eli
The truth hurts. 😭😭😭
For the most part outside of vital American race race fans don’t know about the MXdN. It’s an expensive event that only makes the promoter money. I know you won’t agree with this. It’s because you don’t get it. And that’s ok……….
Okay, so I guess your point is that Prado has no excuses?
I agree…… it’s hilarious that people say his bike is slow. It’s a 450 with a factory build on it. A stock 450 isn’t even slow…😂 The kid is a World Champion, if the bike is not to his liking, then he needs to get it together, put the work in testing and get it to his liking. No excuses! That said…. he’s coming off injury , the tracks are new and he made the move stateside. I think he’ll get it all figured out before seasons end.
Anderson is going to be a monster once he gets on a club bike with some HP, he’s up there on that turd Kawi
