Can’t make this stuff up. Elon made his billions leaching off tax payers and then fired a bunch of government employees. Trump proposed to increase the deficit and Elon said he just undid everything they worked towards.  Then this massive shit show follows.

I really hope that getting a good look at these two hemorrhoids up close will cure a few people of their misplaced loyalties.

This doesn't have anything to do with the left, that conversation is just a "hey look over there!" technique. This is about a growing sentiment that thinks Trump often doesn't go far enough and now Musk is in that group, very well poised to be the leader and move us closer to our demise. This is a fight between Trump's Maga and the new Maga+ movement.

I voted for Obama and Trump.

Yet I don't think Trump went far enough as you say bc the Big Bill does in fact cut taxes but adds more debt so yeah Elon is correct here is saying Trump not going far enough.

If you're OK with you wife or husband not balancing the family budget yet adding more debt every year I don't know what to tell you.

I really dont understand how being fiscally responsible and trying to spend less than what you're taking in is considered the "demise" of said family?

Please explain

I'm definitely for fiscal responsibility, pretty hard not to be as you get older. Obviously you don't cut taxes if you're working on debt, but Musk = DOGE and DOGE is kinda garbage. Efficiency is the measure of one thing against another, but all they've done is cut. They've done none of the efficiency part where you figure out ways to maintain output with fewer resources. If all you do is cut and you don't bring anyone in to redesign the way these agencies operate, all you've done is worsen efficiency.

And this is what it's really about, crippling the Federal government so they're unable to go after big corps for the laws they break, the waste they dump, the cancer give people, and the accountability for any of it. Musk is even more corporate than Trump. This is a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario, but I think that more Maga is not the answer. And cuts don't always work how they seem at first, like cutting the program where we pay farmers to grow food for kids and seniors, not awesome and definitely not the "corners of your crops" we should be striving for, but guess what will happen next.....they're already talking about a bailout for farmers.

It's like if your gas budget for your car were cut to zero and you weren't able to make it to work. Sometimes you need to spend intelligently in order to make money. We're not doing a good job there and Trump and Musk had their opportunity.

Did the look at all the previous hemorrhoids that have held office in Washington DC for the last several decades do much about it?

Quit acting like these are "unprecedented times"!

The unprecedented times started when the plan to assassinate JFK were drawn up. It's only as the years have gone by that the reality has become more visible.

Acting like Trump is the only incompetent President is ignorance to the last several Presidents and their administrations.

If you haven't messaged or called EACH of your congresspersons by now, then get off your asses!!

If a bill passes that add to the federal debt, then vote out whomever the congressperson was. Whether they voted for it or not, hold YOUR congresspersons responsible for the actions of Congress. Don't let any of them get away with the blame game!

I go back to comments I made here many years ago. There was a time when I was a "loyal" Republican. That was back in the early 2000's. I finally got tired of sounding like an idiot, defending everything dubya did, so I quit. The overall feeling was like taking a huge dump or enjoying a really long fart. Very satisfying. I never looked back.

That was what my comment was about. Read the lyrics to "Hurt". It pretty much spells out what happens when you place too much faith in certain humans. Especially politicians.

Lots of word bro.

I get it... you see any cutting as inherently bad due to it not doing enough it terms of correct efficency.

How about you tell me anything either political party has ever done (either correctly or incorrectly) to increase government efficiency prior to what Trump and Elon tried with Doge?

Does this seem a little off to anyone else? Even by Trump and Musk standards, these two are hamming it up big time. There's also a huge portion of the population that both of them know will ignore pretty much everything in their life to sit back and watch the show. It feels like a distraction. Even if the nucleus of this fight is genuine, the shit slinging is way out of proportion.

For a couple of guys who have been painted as unrepentant pathological liars, why are we now believing them?

kbsci wrote:

Because they are saying things that we know are true instead of things we know are false.

Are they though? Trump's first salvo was an allegation that Musk was bitter about the bill dropping EV subsidies. But Musk has been consistent for years in asking the government to get rid of the subsidies because, as he saw it, Telsa was the market leader and the subsidies only helped competitors gain market share for EVs. Numerous interviews confirm this. I don't think Trump's statement is true, and I think he knows it's not true.

Trump also said he'd cancel the SpaceX contracts. The US doesn't really have any other options for orbital deliveries in the near term. Plus, a lot of SpaceX's work falls in the category of defense spending. Do you think there's any truth to the statement about cancelling those contracts? You want to spend two weeks struggling to make the TACO moniker stick and then argue "Trump is 100 percent cereal about this, guys," suit yourself. But I don't believe that threat.

And then for Elon, the Epstein comment. Trump's name on the Epstein files has been well reported for years. So the statement is true, but nothing really new. The implication is that there is some bombshell in there that hasn't been covered yet, but that's an allegation that we will probably never be able to verify. If they release the Epstein file and Trump isn't implicated, would you believe it? Could you be convinced that the file is complete? It's an empty claim that's nearly impossible to prove or disprove, and that's as good as a lie.

Also, Trump's internet trolling is a hallmark of his political career. In fact, his political career only got started because he trolled Obama so bad that he got a sitting president to release a birth certificate to prove his citizenship. For the better part of two decades, Trump has been relentlessly bullshitting on the internet. I'm not eager to assume that this isn't just another episode.

IMO   This is all a ruse bewtween these two to get the heat off of Musk.....I believe its all fake so the snowflakes stop hating Musk  and start buying teslas again....remember, both these men are successful businessmen and they know how to work the system.....This is Trumps way to help musk get his reputation back....Stamp it.  I bet they laugh at this circus when alone....Musk believes in Trump and isnt going to throw that away over a policy...........

Certain humans - as if politicians aren't a representation of all humans.

Some humans can be trusted to differing degrees, but faith is for a select few only.

Think about it…Comey and then Wray had access to every Epstein file in existence since before T45.  If they had any real damning evidence on Trump regarding Epstein, any Moran with half a brain knows the Democrats would have already played that card, even if it meant sacrificing a good portion of their own to take down the evil orange man.  If they could have “got Trump” with that, they would have done it long ago and not had to do some of the stupid shit they’ve done instead.

Yeah sorry, gotta head to twitter if you need character limits. But your question is a false premise, because DOGE is only making cuts with no reform, which worsens efficiency. Still, the answer is Clinton and Gingrich, last time we ran a surplus. They made cuts but were smart enough to include reform, which reform is where efficiency happens. Otherwise it's like trying to rebuild your bike with half the tools, efficiency goes down the tube.

Sorry man not trying to offend but you have a habit of being rather verbose ..

I guess this is where we agree to disagree.

Sometimes in life you have to make due with less and the mood of the American taxpayer is exactly that in regards to our bloated governmental agencies.

That is the reform for crying out loud!

You ever drive by a job site and there's 1 guy digging and 10 others standing around watching and "supervising " ?

That's a perfect metaphor for our government.

Time to cut some fat and figure it out.

If some stuff needs to added back to truly function so be it but it's high time we start somewhere and  I hope we can agree on that.

DOGE fired the guy doing the digging and a few of the guys watching and left the rest to stand there and get paid while accomplishing nothing and called it efficiency.

Incorrect Truck but nice try  at a swing and a miss.

Doge can't do squat besides make recommendations to department heads unless probationary status.

So in your example the one guy is still digging.

The other 10 workers standing around have been reduced to 6 only because the first 4 that were cut were new hires on probationary status.

Thus the one guy digging is still doing all the work.

A small win to address the waste, fraud and abuse in the government but in reality way more to go.

Frankly I would still be all for it if it was a Democrat doing it but we both know trimming the government would never happen under a Democrat or Republican so that's why Orange man Bad gets some credit here for doing anything about it.

You got issues about how's he's doing  it that's fine but what's your guy proposing besides the staus quo?

Don't forget we are talking about the government spending your and mine hard earned tax dollars

A new or different president won’t and can’t change things in any meaningful way. History proves this. We should stop putting collective faith in a new “leader” that will bring about the change we desire. The system is broken for 99.8% of the population. It will not be reformed.
