I believe the proper usage would be sideward, without the "s" at the end. Like toward, forward, or backward.
EDIT: Yes, it means "in the direction of." That's what the suffix "-ward" means. You can insert virtually any word that has a direction involved before it. Here are some I can think of: windward, leeward, toward, backward, forward, upward, downward, rearward, northward, southward...

Also, I'm not 100% convinced by the AI responses above about "comfortability." I don't see it in any of the dictionaries I use. "Comfort" or "comfortable" work just fine in any usage I can imagine for the term.

The data scraping source for the AI summary is probably VitalMX.

The team mechanics need to comfortize the bike in order to get comfortability. It's the only way to get well speed. (I seriously heard a NASCAR driver say that his car's speed is 'well' "

I keep telling myself that I need to watch every broadcast with Ricky in order to catalogue his slaughtered metaphors. He gives Yogi Berra a run for his money. I haven't done it, because I'm not sure I want to put myself through it again.

It's all well and good to have comfortability, in fact it's a must.

I wonder how long it was "sick" before it got "well". 🤔

The 2 most nauseating groups of people on Vital are the grammar police and the broadcast police.

And, not surprisingly,  there's a lot of overlap between the two of them.

Words like that are why I have a tough time making through a Keefer Tested podcast. Dude makes up so many words/phrases and it seems like it’s getting worse as he gets older.

With this in mind, can I ask Americans a question?

“Could care less”

When in fact you mean you “couldn’t care less”

Is that what happened? Someone said it once and now people copy it without correction??🤷‍♀️

I noticed that bird from the commentary team used the 'c-word' during the Hangtown broadcast. Nasty.

Also, while I'm here can everyone please please stop calling AP the cowboy? It's the phoniest most contrived nickname out there and has to stop. The worst offender is Leek Diffey but it's spreading.

That one drives me nuts.

There are plenty of those sayings that people get wrong.

Sad really.

‘Cowboy’ is better than ‘Dangerboy’!
He’s not 7 years old anymore.

And why would we applaud the ‘danger’ aspect of the sport anyway?? None of us want to think of the dangers of it- if we did, we wouldn’t do it!!

Yeah, Dangerboy is a stupid name as well but at least it's one of longstanding. The 'Cowboy' one seemed to be just suddenly produced. Nicknames are always better if they evolve naturally.  I'm not sure if Dangerboy came about in this way,  but being that the Princess is always interested in fakeness, it was probably made up by him for media purposes.

That's right. Same as "I can't thank" when the speaker really means "can't thank enough.

Yes, all his after dark adventures are bullshit. The guy acts like he was Warren Beatty.

The new trend I’m hearing lately is never using the word “good” and always replacing it with “well”. There are some occurrences when “well” should be used instead of “good”. Example “I am riding really well this week.” However, it’s like some speaking coach told these guys to replace good with well in all instances. “He looks really well on the bike.” “His finishes have been well lately.”

Sorry for my rant. I hear it on nearly every moto podcast and in a ton of interviews. Never hear it anywhere else.

Yeah, love having Ricky still around the sport and hearing his thoughts in the booth, although many seem to not like him in there, but he's a prime example of using "well" like this. It's cringe for sure. But he's a racer, not a writer or academic, so I cut him slack.

Might as well. They have the same a validity as comfortability 🤷‍♂️

Time to add "compliancy" to this list of nonsense. "Compliance" is the word to use in the exact same context.

Where has this new phrase "clutch" appeared from? "That was a clutch move" or "clutch statement".

Sounds like youth speak and there's nothing more nauseating then 40+ year old people using youth terminology.

Gary Bailey stated at every one of his schools to make your practice tracks so ridiculously hard that it made every track easy.

Your grasp of proper English usage is flawed.

There was an older phrase that my dad used: "Coming through in the clutch." I think it refers to "being in the grasp of your competitor," or "in the jaws of defeat." In other words, it looks like all is lost. If you can pull out a win in that scenario, you have done an impressive thing. Coming through in the clutch. The term, "he is clutch" means he's the kind of athlete who can perform in a clutch situation. A "clutch move" means the act or performance of coming through in the clutch.

The root word is the verb (To) Clutch- To grasp or hold tightly.

Thanks for that Falcon, but who is responsible for bringing "clutch" in this meaning into the commentary booth. It's a term I've never heard used until recently so something/somebody has brought it into the minds of the guys on the broadcast.

Yeah, it’s right up there with “FALSE NEUTRAL”.  False neutral has always puzzled me. There’s nothing FALSE about it, the damn thing goes into  NEUTRAL. It’s unintentional but not false….
